When I compare synths I usually look at the features and controls, assuming oscillators themselves are all equal. I’ll have to start paying more attention to the actual sounds since they really are all programmed differently

I use Keys Step Pro to control and sequence some digital synthesizers installed in Ableton, including Dune 3, Arturia Pigment, etc.. I create music which is composed of several Synthesizer Presets. When I'm playing the song live, and I need to change from one Preset to another, I go into the Sound Bank of the respective Synthesizer and select the Preset to change. I ask: Is there a way in Ableton itself, or a Plugin, that I can select the Presets of each Synthesizer and from this selection/mapping I can activate the preset that I will use? As if it were a screen that showed the Tracks for each Synthesizer, with their respective pre-selected presets. Is there a more practical and agile way to do this?

I Put Dune 3 on PRESET 050 LD FOLD THE RIVER ST and played Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock 69 Stars and Stripes OMG SERIOUSLY I've just blown the house to bits with it, PURE AWESOMENESS !! I'm using Dune in Ableton, and using a MIDI controller to play it. When I touch the controller the MIDI indicator light on Dune 3 blinks. I'm clicking on Dune's MIDI Button to access MIDI Learn and I'm not getting it. Could you give me some guidelines. Thanks.
Right-click on any knob to assign a MIDI controller. The MIDI indicator light just shows you there is MIDI data incoming, it is not related to the MIDI Learn function directly.
You skipped or barely touched on the dual arppegiators which is one of the main features added in dune 3. Are there an videos that touch on this functionality?

Check the Voices section on the right, which gives you control over presets using multiple layers. Use the Solo buttons to enable or disable specific sounds.

@@Heleno. The installer only replaces DUNE 3 and stock content (i.e. factory skins and factory presets). Projects containing DUNE 3 are saved by your DAW and reside in different folders, so they are not affected by the installation process. So yes simply install on top of your existing installation. Note you can always back up your current Synapse Audio/DUNE 3 folder if you wish, but it should not be necessary.
I downloaded the demo, and I'm confused as to what's being demonstrated? It appears to be the full vst? I don't get any white noise , or anything that would indicate I'm in demo mode? What gives?
Whenever I render my songs in FL Studio all my DUNE 3 synths sound different each time. It's the only synth that does it and I think it has to do with the LFO's. Any ideas? Thanks!
Lock the LFOs to your host by enabling "Host Sync" under the Settings tab. That may do the trick. If not, we need to know more details about what exactly changes and in which patch, in order to look more closely into it. Note that if the LFOs are unsync'ed, then it is both normal and desired that the sound changes each time you press a key. One more thing you could check is your MIDI setup. If a MIDI keyboard is sending controller data, this could change sound parameters. If this is the issue, right-click on a knob and choose "Clear MIDI Map".

I am not using a MIDI keyboard, just regular PC keyboard so I believe nothing on the MIDI side should cause any problems. To me, this problem happens to anything that has LFO it seems. @@Spiriax Thank you for the video. That Pulse patch is supposed to sound this way though. It would sound very dull if every keypress sounded exactly the same, more like a ROMpler than a synthesizer. That said, you can make it perfectly static if you want, by setting the LFO phase to zero on each keypress. This can be done by adding the following line into the modulation matrix: "Const" "0" "LFO Init Phase 1". Additionally you can click Reset on the oscillators, so they are no longer in free run mode and always reset as well. Lastly you can turn off the Phaser in the FX section, or sync it to the host as well by pressing the SYNC switch (maybe this is what you meant in the first place? I'm not sure, that particular patch happens to have quite a lot going on!) FWIW yet another approach you could take is to simply freeze or bounce the track. This has the additional benefit that the track is no longer taking any CPU resources.

DUNE 3 has the ability to self-modulate its modulation matrix via the MM Amount destinations, and some factory patches take advantage of this, since it allows for great flexibility and very deep/complex modulation setups. For a simple task like adding Vibrato, it is much easier to just use LFO*MW, however.

The same thing also happened to me. I have a specific folder called Cakewalk VSTs which is the folder where I usually store all of my VST plugins and whenever I tried to reinstall DUNE 3 I kept getting the same message and it was very annoying.
So here's a beginner's question: how do you control Dune 3 patches from within Cubase? Let's say I want to use three different sounds of this VST, each on a separate track. And I end up having the same sound on all three.
Click on the patch name in the middle to choose a different patch for a DUNE 3 instance. Another way to select a patch is to use the new patch browser added in version 3.5.
Thank you for your swift response. It seems I've been misuderstood. Clicking a patch name in the dropdown within DUNE itself is as obvious as it could possibly be. But having Cubase remember that selection is another thing - hence the expression "control from within Cubase". Let's forget about multiple tracks and multiple patches at a time I asked about and assume there's just one track with DUNE hooked up as output. I pick - say - patch #021, then save the project, shut everything down and go to bed. The next day I reload the project and boom - the patch has reset to #001 Adrenaline KS. And I don't remember which patch it was. :) That's the basic problem that makes me disbelieve it could be such a glaring functional shortcoming rather than me being a helpless rookie.
Disable the Arp1 and/or Arp2 buttons in the Common section on the right. Furthermore, make sure the voice selector is set to ALL voices in case the preset uses multiple layers.
still having gui problems with getting the bottom effects where the keyboard is to fully show on my screen on fl 20 even after i changed the skin to the smallest possible. any ideas?

Note if you want the best possible preset browsing, in our opinion using NKS is the best way, this not only allows you to browse/tag the DUNE 3 factory banks and our expansions, but you can search across all your installed plugins simultaneously (which a native browser cannot do).

Such an amazing synths but going through the wavetables(and presets) is a joke. 100's of wavetables in one vertical dropdown menu without possibility to preview? This really criplling the synths usability and is major pain in the ass.
You can preview the Wavetables in realtime, or draw your own waveform shapes - everything is updated in realtime. Regarding presets, use Dune 3 with NKS, this will give you previews for all patches (and much more...)
@@gabenght9316Just use the mouse wheel, you don't need to open the dropdown menu. And btw DUNE 3 comes with about 50 wavetables, not hundreds. Perhaps you installed many third party wavetables from elsewhere?
@@synapseaudio2488 I don't have an NI controller and using a second piece of software to augment the flaws of another piece of software isnt any less cumbersome than my current preset management workarounds for Dune 3.

There is two possible ways, change the Semi knobs in the oscillator section or use the mod matrix to pitch everything up (destination "Common/Semi").

The trial version expires after 30 days, contains only a limited amount of presets, and save/recall is disabled.

Open the piano roll in FL Studio and adjust the note length there. It is the host that starts/stops notes, not Dune 3.

Click on the patch name in the middle to choose a different patch for a DUNE 3 instance. Another way to select a patch is to use the new patch browser added in version 3.5.

It seems I've been misuderstood. Clicking a patch name in the dropdown within DUNE itself is as obvious as it could possibly be. But having Cubase remember that selection is another thing - hence the expression "control from within Cubase".
Let's forget about multiple tracks and multiple patches at a time I asked about and assume there's just one track with DUNE hooked up as output. I pick - say - patch #021, then save the project, shut everything down and go to bed. The next day I reload the project and boom - the patch has reset to #001 Adrenaline KS. And I don't remember which patch it was. :)
That's the basic problem that makes me disbelieve it could be such a glaring functional shortcoming rather than me being a helpless rookie.
@@maciejb166You must be using the free demo version, which indeed does not recall patches.
How can I turn off the arp on presets
Disable the Arp1 and/or Arp2 buttons in the Common section on the right. Furthermore, make sure the voice selector is set to ALL voices in case the preset uses multiple layers.
still having gui problems with getting the bottom effects where the keyboard is to fully show on my screen on fl 20 even after i changed the skin to the smallest possible. any ideas?

@@ohnostorm Another way is to detach the window in FLStudio (top/left icon in the plugin window). This way it works like in other hosts, i.e. the plugin has access to the full screen.
Does Dune 3 have resizable GUI? cant find anything on the one i use.
Yes. Click on "Skin" in the middle. You can choose between different sizes ranging from small to huge, as well as between a dark and light theme. For Mac users, high-res Retina screens are supported as well.

Dune 3 is a plug-in for Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs). It comes in VST, Audio Unit and AAX formats. Common DAWs that host Dune 3 include software packages like Cubase, FLStudio, Logic, Live or ProTools, amongst others.

You can use the new "Favorites" feature introduced in DUNE 3.5. Alternatively create a subfolder and place your patches there.

you'd regret that statement 6 years down the track as my left kidney was removed 6 years ago and it's caused overload on my remaining one and no end of issues. I love Dune 3 but it could do with an overhaul to access the presets, something like Pigments would be better. IMHO.

Note if you want the best possible preset browsing, in our opinion using NKS is the best way, this not only allows you to browse/tag the DUNE 3 factory banks and our expansions, but you can search across all your installed plugins simultaneously (which a native browser cannot do).

Such an amazing synths but going through the wavetables(and presets) is a joke. 100's of wavetables in one vertical dropdown menu without possibility to preview? This really criplling the synths usability and is major pain in the ass.
You can preview the Wavetables in realtime, or draw your own waveform shapes - everything is updated in realtime. Regarding presets, use Dune 3 with NKS, this will give you previews for all patches (and much more...)

@@gabenght9316Just use the mouse wheel, you don't need to open the dropdown menu. And btw DUNE 3 comes with about 50 wavetables, not hundreds. Perhaps you installed many third party wavetables from elsewhere?

Needs some level of preset management badly given its high price.
Use NKS, which is fully supported by DUNE 3 - it is the best preset management out there.
@@synapseaudio2488 I don't have an NI controller and using a second piece of software to augment the flaws of another piece of software isnt any less cumbersome than my current preset management workarounds for Dune 3.
PLEASE hire another guy next time. He does tutorials like these for so many other companies already, I really don't see the point why you allow him to have a monopoly on this kind of stuff ...... And yes, I personally can't stand him as well.
