All I can say is Maggie Kirkpatrick is an excelllent actress - Joan Ferguson might be her most 'famous' role - however - if you have seen her theatre work, you'd know there is more to her than just Joan!! For someone who'd never done TV before the Joan Ferguson role came about, you'd never have known. One of Aussie TV's best, alongside Queen Bea, Val Lehman. They don't make them like this anymore.
She was back 3 times and one of her demands was that she wanted to kill the Freak. They had a big feud when they were both in it but the last time they asked her in 1984 they thought the Freak was their best character.
She died in a fire off-screen a year prior to this episode. I know Prisoner had continuity issues and unrealistic plots but Bea's ghost delivering her meal would've been too much lol.
Instead of them killing bea off they could have said she's escaped and she's been on the run and they could have recaptured her and brought her too Wentworth and she could have stood with Rita and Alice and gave her the tray herself with rita and Alice standing in the background smiling and bea could have given ferguson that grin as she hands her the tray wish they did that , would have been much better old and new friends and officers reunited too get mrs fergusson once and for all
Thanks for taking the trouble to do this - excellent edit. I wish they had done something like this in the original, bringing back some of the old faces for one last time. I wish they have never killed Bea's character off completely, and after some of her battles as top dog against The Freak, could have had a hand in her final downfall.
theytrebel I agree, I would have loved to have seen Bea, Lizzie, Doreen and Myra etc who she either battled or bullied back in the day present for this glorious moment. It would have been sweet. :)
This is a fantastic piece of work, well done. Just gonna watch it again now. Thanks for all the PCBH stuff you put online as well. Just recently have had a renewed appetite for seeing Prisoner and most of the stuff I've watched has been from your channel.

Joan disposed of some of them and never gave them a moments thought. Even though characters like Bea and Myra were huge enemies of Joan's, the key to the end of the series is that to tackle someone like the freak you need to stick together as a team and not tackle them on your own. Excellent conclusion to such a great show

Meg put up with a lot from Joan. I would have at least like to have seen SOME reference to past goings on with Joan included in the last episode. This would have been great.

Where is kath maxwell in the final scene? Also they were always saying they were short staffed. What was it 9 prisoners to 4/5 officers 😂 No hate just saying👍

Because it was probably the closest women's prison. And she was only being held there temporarily in isolation. She wasn't in any danger. She wasn't mixing with the other women.
Would have loved to have seen a scene where Joan on remand is sent to the new prison,only to find Bob Moran as Governor and Marie Winter and Margot Gaffney as inmates,loved to have seen Joan's Face Two of the Women who hated her are now her cellmates,and out to get her! And make her life the living hell she inflicted on prisoners in Wentworth!

They did take her to the Police station after she was arrested. Have you not seen the final episode of Prisoner? She's taken straight there, they get her fingerprints and all that, and then she's taken to Wentworth and put straight into isolation.

Should have had Bea Return to set Ferguson up get her imprisoned,turned out Bea Never Died and was still alive,Could Have been outside Prison in a limo smiling while Ferguson got into police Car,The Series Could have ended with Ferguson in police car driven away and Bea laughing and saying "I told you I'd get you Joanie,didn't I"!
I think they should have done anything to get Val Lehman back for a final scene as the last episode have the cell door open instead of the last Top dog its the first one standing there who says something memorable then shoots the freak who then wakes up in a terrified state. As final episodes go it was a disappointment I was expecting something like episode 326.
raw Agree.it would have been a fabulous touch to bring back Wentworth so number one top dog Queen Bea just for the final episode!I too thought that the final episode was abit of a fizzer and a cheap copout.Noway would have the freak been so stupid as to do a deal with a prisoner so as to put herself at such risk.It was completely out of character for her.Cheers.
