  • Kesong Puti seems so simple, but sometimes that simplest things can be the tastiest. As long as care, great cratsmanship and passion are applied, it can create the best result. Erwan drives off to Laguna, where they have been creating some of the best cheese in the Philippines for centuries, in his Lexus RX in search for the best Kesong Puti he has tried, to create his next dish.

    I get my Kesong Puti from the Philippine Carabao Center. The problem is that being a government agency, they don't market their goods at all. You can basically only buy their products directly from them (which are only available in limited areas in the country). I want them to be available in stores nationwide. I want them to be as common as cheddar. It's our cultural heritage after all.

      We have PH Carabao Center in Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija. But even us from south of Nueva Ecija doesn't get to taste our very own products.

    I think kesong should be branded and standardized like what european countries are doing with their cheeses. It should be marketed properly to gain more attention.

    • @cmicklus
      @cmicklus 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah. As a Filipino living in New York City for over 25 years, I've always wanted to have more of our food and culture readily available in as many places as possible. As much as we want recognition for who we are, there's some serious downsides to branding and standardization. An increase in industry leads to a growth in commercial farming, which leads to habitat loss (deforestation), more pollution, which leads to less wildlife. Bucolic parts of the world need to be left as is, simple living should be simple.

    thank you Erwan and staff for editing this better. this has more cohesion than the last one. at least here, though the car is still prominently featured (pardon the pun), it was just a vehicle to get to the objective.
    there was actual interaction with the locals and details/info on how to order kesong puti should the viewers find themselves interested in buying some. the other did not.
    (as of writing, i checked that video again and yes. no mention of how to order the local tamales. only the chef's restaurants were listed- which is unfair as they were the ones that made the product)
    hoping for more videos like these (featuring Filipino products) in your succeeding content. advance Merry Christmas

    • @halleluia2025
      @halleluia2025 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Local tamales are available in all public markets, most local restaurants and delis offer them too

    • @mosesjeromelazaro2841
      @mosesjeromelazaro2841 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@halleluia2025 true. however, the partnership was also to showcase the vehicle. if it can be bought anywhere, then why go to that place? if that was the thinking then that omits the necessity of the vehicle to travel far.
      they need that shot - interior, exterior, the vehicle moving etc.
      showing the process entices the viewer to want to try the product coming from that area.
      just my thoughts.

    Simula nang bata ako, isa sa lagi naming kanakain ay kesong puti mula sa Laguna. Inihahalo namin ito sa kanin o pinapalaman sa mainit-init na tinapay na parang mozzarella. Ngayon ko lang nalaman na ito pala'y malinamnam kung mula sa Magdelana. Sa susunod na luluwas ako sa probinsya, pipilitin ko na dumaan sa Magdalena para matikman ang kanilang kesong puti.
    Maraming salamat sa paglaki ng aking kaalaman sa kultura at produkto na ito.

    I think we have to globalize both KESONG PUTI AND QUEZO DE BOLA like European cheeses such as Halloumi, mozzarella and brie. They need to find a way to make kesong puti stay fresh for ONE MONTH or at least three months.

    How do you actually make kesong puti? They don't sell this type of cheese where I'm from... Nada. Zipo. Zilch. I did, however, manage to find a company in the East Coast that does sell water buffalo milk, so I'm somewhat one step closer to getting my hands on this cheese... sorta...??
    My two cents, I think kesong puti tastes better with banana leaves.
