- This is a full and complete review of the "New" Stoeger XM1 PCP rifle. This is a .22 caliber in a "Realtree" finish. We examine the gun, show you the performance, and provide an unbiased opinion. I actually, shot this rifle about 250 times, I cleaned the barrel, I tried the scope mounted just on the breech, then I tried using the front sight mount to see if it would make a difference, both positions gave me the same results. I also tried three different scopes. Regardless of the accuracy, the shot count, velocity, and the trigger will not change but I wanted to give Stoeger the benefit of the doubt. This was a lemon and we can’t judge them all by this poor performance. I appreciate you tuning in!

Hello Mr. João, I already know that I am always repeating myself, but a great criticism as always, I have seen this Stoeger xm1 pcp on other channels, with a good rating, but I also saw Videos of individuals who bought it, and this is the performance, I’ve never seen a criticism have to stay in the middle, let’s see if this Stoeger has a new opportunity, Airgun detectives always, health.
Luis, I actually, shot this rifle about 250 times, I cleaned the barrel, I tried the scope mounted just on the breech, then I tried using the front sight mount to see if it would make a difference, both positions gave me the same results. I also tried three different scopes. The shot count and the accuracy was just not there. I believe I just received a defective rifle and I am absolutely open to retest the rifle. I appreciate your comments as always.
@@AirgunDetectives Mister John, I didn’t express myself well, what I meant is that you don’t work miracles, but honest realities, so the test was half done, and good, you tried very hard, these weapons are very inaccurate , but it may also be defective, it happened to Gamo Swarm Bone Collector, there is the doubt, Mr. John is the person to find out where the truth is, health.

Maybe you got a lemon or factory second because the one I have is awesome. Never owned a pcp before so I really have no experience to compare it to, but I have owned many pellet guns in my day and this one is by far the best I have owned. No problem with scope that came with it, hit bullseye after bullseye 25 to 30 yards and notice very little drop off after about 25 shots using .22 cal 14 grain pointed tip pellets. The trigger pull is as good if not better than some of my bullet firing rifles. Like you said.......the feel of the gun is very good also. The gun is made in China so they could have issues with quality . Very happy with mine so far. Well worth the money.
Yeah youre right. This gun is actually a nail driver. All these followers not leaders are as stupid as hell. They want to say something buy it themselfs not just listen to a guy that used the wrong amo. Well said brother!

I definitely got a lemon. For that price point I think you can do much better. Can you access the Xisico 705 Sentry Deluxe in Canada? That's a lot of rifle for the price and it is frugal on air. It's really easy to work on.

This is odd, as far as accuracy, just watched a video from a Brit, TGO outdoors I believe, and this guy is always a nit picker, he shot a few rounds on paper, just about same distance, very accurate! Watched your review next...... Wow what a difference! Night and day. Wanted to purchase at first, but had to hit the brakes after your review. Glad your out here doing what you do brother.

Dang bro! Way to lay it down! Thanks for the review! I can't stand crappy guns! Stay away from AEA Precision Airguns. They sent me 3 guns and the first one had a crooked scope rail, the second, the stock wouldn't latch shut ($800-$1300 guns!!) ...I didn't even open the 3rd package. Sent them all back! ...I guess I will order a .177 now and test it. Thanks for the Detective work! I'll check out the website. -Nate
I had quite the adventure with that one. I mounted that scope every where just to see if I could overcome the barrel droop. But regardless, the accuracy, the shot count and the trigger is what it is. I appreciate you watching and thanks for the kind comments. 👍😉

Part of the problem is that at $229, corners have to be cut, and the barrel is, well, similar to all of the budget $50 break-barrel and pneumatic guns out there, like the Crossman pumpers we all grew up with. Yes, I'm watching this a year later, but thanks for the honest review. If it sucks, that's great info as well, as it forces the manufacturer to fix things. I suspect that quality control is the real issue, since no two seem to be exactly the same out of the box.

i just bought one with black stock, non shrouded . i cleaned the barrel, Tightend the 3 screw that hold the barrel. in 10 meters with air arms falcon pellets its one hole . check the rifling in the muzzle end, some barrel has crowning pilot tool damage. my first pp700sa pcp pistol has the rifling damage, shooting all over the paper. then returned got another one shoots amazing accurate. bought a used qb chief .177 same thing happend, i have to short the barrel about half inch and recrown with brass screw.
I have no doubt I got a defective model. Glad yours worked out👍

I wanted to ask if you've done a review of the 177CAL and 22CAL American Classic Crossman 10pump handgun?
For the price that Airgun can be beat plus it can't be modified to the point of shooting over a 1,000 FPS!
I have a stoeger xm1.
The dealer checked the gun before I received it.
Possibly the silencer/ moderator is interfering with the pellets.
Another dealer told me he had a sighting problem with the xm1.
My dealer said that the mounting for the UK version maybe loose/not straight.
Worth looking at before testing the gun.
Hi John, I just think I may have gotten a bad one. I have been getting some comments on the scope mounting. I failed to explain in the video I actually mounted the scope just on the breech like it is intended, then I tried moving the front scope mount to the Front sight location to see if it would improve. Unfortunately, the same results. Regardless of manufacturers I have always experienced a bad rifle here and there. Thanks for tuning in and I appreciate you leaving comments.
@@AirgunDetectives Did Stoeger ever send you a new one to test? I am so disappointed, I am a recent right leg amputee with other health issues that had me hospitalized 43 times in less than 3yrs. Im 48 and now financially poor due to my health. I really want a nice accurate pcp that I could hunt with and just plink to clear my head once in awhile.

That's a weird air rifle the shots were going where they wanted to go that air rifle reminds me of the Diana Storm Rider so much I don't think I want that now.. thank God we have you to review these air rifles and let us know what they are all about thank you Air gun detective,👍

Hopefully, the manufacturer will contact you and work with you to correct the issues. You and your followers could help them improve this product and possibly help them with future ones.
We are fortunate to have so many well known manufacturers, but there is also room for new manufacturers. I would be willing to give lesser known manufacturers a try when they provide good products and support.

Thank you! I was interested in this rifle, but not anymore. I'll save my $$ and get an S4000E. Stoeger has some very pretty looking polymer airguns but they have to shoot straight to hang on my wall
The thing with Crosman pellets is there so dirty if you wash and lube them you will see a huge increase in accuracy I do in my Artemis pp700 and the groups are night and day cause that gun gives me a spread with Crosman h points only ones I will shoot

gosh I put the site that came with my stoeger xm1 on and it shoots down by 2 inches and that is with the 'up' adjust as high as it will go. Do they not test these items out?
That was a interesting review. I bought a Hatsan bullboss in 22 that was shooting about the same group as that gun. I lapped the crown of the barrel a few minutes. Turned out to be a straight shooter after the lapping. Thank you !
I really believed I got a bad rifle regarding the accuracy. But saying that being said...the shot count, the velocity and the trigger weight will not change.
One things for me is price point this pcp is a great price for me i know i will get way better if i spend another 300 but that is another 300 plus equipment, question did you consider that in your review with the 2.5. side note liked the review best review ive seen so far

I wonder if the 50 shot claim is for the sub 12fpe variant? Shame about the lies on the box. But many makers seem to do the same. Barrel droop sounds bad. I’d have sent it back tbh.

Just a question for ya, what do you fill the tank up with?
Scuba Tank or a hand pump.
Did you clean the barrel first??
Also you may need to season the barrel with a tin of pellets to tighten groups. Great starter rifle, but a little slow fps. Liked your review.
I actually, shot about 250 rounds through it, cleaned the barrel, put the scope in the standard breech mount position, then tried using the front sight mount. I also tried 3 different scopes and still ended up with these results. I truly believe this was just a lemon. I hope to retest another in the future.😉

The Dyana magazines are exactly the same so i agree with it being a dyana design.
Mine also has a terrible barrel drop. The scope is trash.
Hi John! Thanks so much for doing the review of the Stoeger. I had no idea Benelli / Stoeger contracted for a re-branded regulated Diana Stormrider/ Mrodair Air Max with a different stock. I guess the quality control at Snowpeak is like 50 to 65 percent! One bad rifle in every two or three produced. This Snowpeak product represents the Chinese quality we have grown accustom too! Junk! For $200 the Beeman Chief II is a much better multi-shot PCP air rifle!! An email was sent to Stoeger to view your review! If the second one is junk I would ask for my money back!!

Stoeger,, from most honest reviews has had a hard time hitting the mark with their air rifles. I as always was pleased with your honest assessment of this rifle & before you even spoke a word i kind've knew in my gut this was a bust. Thank You Sir. Funny, i had that POI problem with a break barrel, drifting to the left..Stock screws were loose..LMBO.
Barrel droop is much more common in the break barrels. But this thing was a joke. I appreciate you tuning in 😉👍
The barrel droop is from incorrect scope mounting. The front installation point is for the front sight not the front scope ring. Bring the front scope mount back to the point just in front of the breach.

it is a great dressed up Diana Stormrider with a body kit and shroud. It needs a barrel band in the front and to be tuned. i took mine apart and tweeked it out. great gun but needs work. But you cant expect to much from a 200 dollar gun stock.After i put about 175 dollars into it yeah it was good. im turning mine into a 350cc bottle gun . but that has yet to be seen . Waiting on the bottle . I made a bottle adapter for it. but great review

I fired around 60 pellets (one tank of air) from this rifle. Without suppressor and without optics. Cheapest pellets, 16 grains. 10m distance. I fired three different pellets, with two of them had groups smaller than 1cm. Five pellets in one group. Made three rounds, every time same results. I cannot imagine how can I be more precise or some other rifle. My results are almost perfect. Also, I have little experience in shooting pellet rifle. I don't have anything against this video just want to write this down for a people how are thinking buying this rifle. You shouldn't stop the test after accuracy shooting because you are here not to judge but to the test and your viewers will do the judging for themselves. This way look completely biased. Also worth of mention is that i had same precision with full and almost empty tank. Maybe not the same speed but precision exactly the same. Cheers

Jay, there are many options out there for this price point or a bit more. Look at the Barra 1100 or the Gamo Arrow. Happy Shooting!
@@AirgunDetectives I've really had my eye on that air venturi avenger gun & pump , what might be your opinion on that rifle kit. It seems to be a lower priced rifle kit Compared to the extreme higher dollar models. Which I'm not that into. But that one just seems to grab me a bit. , coming with a hand pump. ,,fitting. & 2 gauges. ..I read all the info on it. ,, seems to be very good deal. But I have no real experience with pcp,s but I do want one & I know it's a part of the game. but I really dont want to make a bad purchase ... im . Not going to be happy with at all.... have yu had any experience with that particular rifle yet ???.
You had th scope mount’s on the wrong rails it needs to be on the back rail I did the same thing when I got mine and had the same problem
I wanted to ask if you've done a review of the American Classic Crossman 177CAL or The AMERICAN CLASSIC 22CAL Crossman Handgun this airgun can't be beat for the price and with a little modification it'll shoot over 1,000 FPS.
I have a .22 caliber I put a longer barrel on and the stock to turn it into a carbine. I will have to showcase that one day.👍😉

Hi there in the uk we're I'm from we stay away from stogers the tigers are the worst anyone that can get any kind of grouping is very rare

Sorry sounds like you have that Lemon, I have a Stoeger xm1. I am based in the UK. Mine came with a different mod and scope to yours and works great. I easily get that 50 shots before they start to drop. Maybe they have made some adjustments?? Here in the UK I paid £499.00 for gun, slip, mod, scope, 5ltr air bottle and tin of pellets. A Bargain.

Hey JC, I made an "IMPULSE" Buy on this one... just cause it looked cool. Sadly I had not watched your video first, every thing you said is SPOT ON. So I'm guessing we either both got lemons or that's just the way it is. Oh well, live & learn, it's fine for a kids gun, kinda reminds me of my first Daisy Pump BB Gun and it has just about as much power :(:(:( but I need to refill it every 2 mags. I was thinking you could probably get 50 shots at 20ft. Haha :)

I have the xm1 1.77 it's accurate and provides 4 magazines plus per fill, and I must say your review sounds nothing like the rifle I have! As you say maybe you got a lemon? I would suggest a second review with a new rifle maybe result in a better outcome

Funny how the specs differ on each side of the box. And the manual might even have something to say.. But, we do have seen info switch from place to place before.
Damn! That barrel droop was just horrible!! I were wondering how you skipped the plinking.. But it came quite fast pretty clear.
That stock did seem pretty cool with it's extra grip and cheek piece. The color scheme did seem somewhat familiar. I think my crossbow's stock look pretty much like that in coloring.
Dunno about those extra o-rings and what they are for.. but it is always good to get extra whatever. I would love to always get extra seals with every airpistol I buy at least - even you would not ever need them..
I think I got a lemon regarding the barrel however, the shot count is low, the trigger is average and that will not change even with a good barrel. That is the "Realtree" finish on the stock which is pretty common. If Stoeger would like to provide me with another rifle I would be happy to do an updated review, however for $250 us I can't justify it in my collection. BTW...good job on that intro👍😉

14 good shots aint much. But probably okay for the design and price of a well workikg one. Might even pump one of those by hand. 😁
@@brorjordas1979 yes...It has a small tank 100cc so it is perfect for a hand pump. Overall it might not be bad for an entry level PCP rifle.
Thank you for the video. You've confirmed my results. I'm getting about 10 shots at about 830 fps then it starts dropping off quickly. I think a claim of 50 shots is more realistic if you're looking at the UK/European spec gun as it is limited to just under 12 ft-lb. Even that might be a stretch. The velocity numbers all seem to be misleading as it always assumes a lightweight alloy pellet.
I had no issue with the factory provided 4x scope getting zeroed. I don't know if there was some cant engineered into the rings. However, the rings and the rail aren't the same dovetail. Rail is 13mm and rings are 11mm. It looks rather half you know what. When using a 13mm to weaver rail adapter and another scope and ring combo, I was running out of adjustable on the scope same as you.
As for accuracy with the Air Arms Diabolo Field 16 gr I was about 5/8" at 25 yards.
For $225 I'm not sure really how much more can be expected. A little more would always be nice though.
I think I just received a lemon. For just over $200 it's not bad. Your results are much more consistent with what I think it should normally perform. I would be happy to review it again if Stoeger would like to send me one.😉👍
Good honest review. I have a Discovery that has a 135cc tank 177 cal and it will give at most 20 to 25 usable shots . I also doubt that the Stoger has a regulator .

I have to say, this is why I appreciate your reviews. You give a lot of insight to the mechanics of the guns. The result is a strong review of whether your money should be spent or not. I sometimes disagree with your overall ratings, but I may be slightly more critical and find that perfection is somewhat unattainable in the mechanical sense.
I like my air guns, I enjoy using them to maintain my breathing and accuracy, I love them as a tool to hunt small game.
If I were to get into an inexpensive pcp rifle I think I would lean towards the Umerex Gauntlet in .22 cal.
Stoeger needs to reevaluate their product.

You are NOT supposed to put the scope ring on the rear sight position! Might be a good idea to install the scope correctly, and try again. Also, cleaning the barrel might help. I am not saying your rifle is not a lemon, but I have the same gun with black syn stock. It is surprisingly accurate at 40 meters, actually. I have not shot at longer distances.
You are absolutely Correct! I actually, tried the scope in both positions just to see if it would make a difference. I should have clarified that in the video, my mistake. I also clean every barrel of any of the rifles before I test them. Unfortunately, the accuracy was sub-par. I really believe I just got a defective rifle (lemon) Thank you for tuning in and I am absolutely open to retest the rifle.
Pretty sure this is aimed at the buget end for the UK market. SUB 12 ft/lbs ~
I also made the mistake of buying one of these. Mine has barrel droop and with the scope turned to the lowest point the rifle still shoots over a 18 inches low from line of sight. With 3 shims it still shoots a foot low at 50 yards. The company now has had the rifle for 12 weeks. That is longer then I had it and in a call to them they said it would be 2 more months before they sent me a new one. My advice is stay away from any gun that has the name Stoeger, Bretta, or Benelli on it. When I get mine back it will be up for sale before I even open the box. That company knew of the problem and chose to do nothing about it but sell the entire lot of bad guns hoping no one would return them.

I would not rule this out. I think the barrel droop and the accuracy is the result of a defective rifle. As more reviews come out we may get more information. The shot count, the velocity and the trigger will not change, so if you are happy with those I would give it a try. If it lacks in accuracy you can always return it. I think the one I tested was simply defective.
And why would I trust them if they were unable to get their advertising right?
I just don't one to judge all the models by this one rifle...In my experience, regardless of the manufacturer, you do get an occasional lemon. I hope to retest another model at some point.
hello the problem with that gun is the weak barrel and shroud at it . its the same gun as the diana stormrider artemis snowpeak pr 900) the stock is held with 3 bolts , if you remove the shroud and get the barrel band to the front , a silencer adapter can be added ), , the hole where the stock bolt was in the band , .put a piece of o ring in, and a scrubscrew , that prevents rotation of the band . and some times the crown is shit ,correct that , and then its shoots accurat , the number of shots is depending on the setting , in gemany its 7,5 joule ,in uk 16 ,sweden 10 and so on , at full power i get 325 ms in 177 and 295 METERS SECOND in 22 only 10 shots ,at reg , theN it falls , . most are so called gen 2 that means a reg is on board , the triggers are also adjustable in gen 2 and 3 I saw it as a challence , and the low price made some work it worth the reg is best at 140 bar for power, barrelbands are also available
Bought a 1.77 brake barrel stoeger brand new lasted 15 shots and wouldn't cock then nearly shot me, went off on it's own (beware)
Thanks for the warning. Think I will stick with the line of Airforces tack Driving powerhouses. They have proven themselves highly with me. Very accurate and very powerful light weight hunting air rifles. Worth every penny. I absolutely love my Airforce Condor SS .25. The SS models are pretty quiet as well. Will keep mine in the family for generations to come. If you have never shot an Airforce air rifle you are definitely missing out on something great. For what you get you can not beat the price. In general it is very accurate - have a look at some of the other videos on TH-cam. There is one of a guy shooting a business card in two. I have one and am happy. Obviously it is not a $1000 rifle. The magazine is a bit difficult to use.

I have a stoeger xm1..in 0.22
The gun shop checked it out before selling it to me.
Apparently the silencer,/ moderator attachment can be slightlyloose causing inaccurate shots.
This doesn't happen with my Xm1.
Shoots fine.. using H&N field target trophy pellets. Hits marble sized targets at 30yards every time.. using a rest. The pellets were weighed and examined before use.
It's possible that the model tested was clipping the moderator/silencer.
Try lots of pellets .. this is a good PCP.
The barrel may also be a bit loose, you can tighten it up with the three allen key screws near the loader.
If it doesn't hit where you aim why bother shooting it, much less buy? I do have a Stoeger Mod. X20 break barrel in .177 (the only .177 caliber I own) and it performs flawlessly. Quality is excellent and the price is right. It actually competes with my PCP Air Force Escape in .22 that costs three times as much. Quiet, accurate backyard friendly air guns are worth their weight for two main reasons - maintaining your skill set and for hunting when it really counts. Besides that they're fun-- when they shoot straight.
If it doesn't aim right...why didn't you return it.
Please look at the box.....you fixed the Scope in the wrong position. The fixing in the front must be fixed back to the systembox.This failure is responsible for the bad precision.Sorry for my bad english. ZT
Very good observation!! You are absolutely Correct! I actually, tried the scope in both positions just to see if it would make a difference. I should have clarified that in the video, my mistake. Because the accuracy was very inconsistent, I believe I just received a defective rifle and I am absolutely open to retest the rifle. I appreciate your comments and thanks for tuning in.
After fighting with the last "greatest" air rifle from Stoeger, their ATAC Suppressed for over a year I am not surprised at your findings. The best that my ATAC could do was 1 inch at 10 yards or 4 inches at 30 yards. No help from Stoeger either.
The Umarex Gauntlet and the Gamo Urban are the standard for entry-level pcps. Come on Stoeger. You got to do better than that.
This thing was designed for a child. $250 there are many better options. I was thoroughly disappointed.
You know Benelli owns Stoeger right. Stoeger is there budget line of guns.
You have your scope mounted wrong
The XM1 is much, much better with .177, more accurate, harder hitting, further shooting. Had none of your negative points whatsoever. Stoeger is made by Beretta.

Two and a half Stars? For what the stock. if a rifle can't shoot straight it is worth 0 Stars I don't care how nice the stock is. And that's not accounting for the barrel droop cuz you can have Barrel droop and it still Shoot Straight
I actually, shot this rifle about 250 times, I cleaned the barrel, I tried the scope mounted just on the breech, then I tried using the front sight mount to see if it would make a difference, both positions gave me the same results. I also tried three different scopes. Regardless of the accuracy, the shot count, velocity, and the trigger will not change but I wanted to give Stoeger the benefit of the doubt. This was a lemon and we can’t judge them all by this poor performance. I appreciate you tuning in!
agd is 100 percent correct..this gun is horrible with accuracy ..do not buy this gun..i plan on returning mine

I am hoping to try another one in all fairness. In my experience, regardless of the manufacturer, there is always a bad one that pops up here and there, but I wouldn't judge all the models based on one bad one.
