Words cannot express how much I love JH’s playing and how much I want to emulate it. He is the penultimate jazz drummer; a product of decades of study, history, listening, dedication and just damn hard swinging. Bravo.
Yeah, that cat is a school, a legend really. He's carried Thigpen's fly statters torch on to the following generations with flying colors. That "very last one" as Pat would say. Great trio. That kind of video that goes to "Watch Later" (again). There should be a button to like it twice. Bravo!!!
Ain’t it funny. Jeff has played with the great names of jazz bass… yet Hamar is IMO by far the best match. Man does this trio sound like one collective musical mind. Outstanding playing by all three, superb listening to each other by all three, fantastic natural tone on all the instruments, and a perfect recorded mix.
I’ve been lucky to have seen the JH trio at least 6 times, and to have seen Tamir Hendelman with local bass / drummer twice. He has a very distinctive style and is widely respected in the world of jazz. There’s a reason he’s been playing with JH for over a decade; he swings really hard, he’s a good listener, and his technique is flawless. He has a trio of his own, and was called upon by Barbara Streisand to lead the orchestra for her first live performance in years. I’ve seen some great pianists (Gene Harris, Oscan Peterson, George Shearing) and Tamir Hendelman ranks right up there with the best!
Jeff HAMILTON est le batteur au sommet de son art , son écoute attentive du jeu de ses partenaires confine à l'unisson du trio . Pour l'auditeur c'est un chaleureux bien être d'écouter ces musiciens. Encore merci 🇨🇵.
Hey Key! The images may have gotten mixed up, the performance you are looking for is most likely from his 2019 set here: th-cam.com/video/BUaBJ_uNmRA/w-d-xo.html

why penultimate
Yeah, loud ain't it. Timing, taste and enhance the music, don't dominate it.

Agree! Thanks for watching John, subscribe for more!
Tamir is fantastic but he doesn’t come close to Oscar Peterson man. That cat is on a different level than everyone
The sound is so good. Refined and elegant. Pure joy.
Very tight and boy, they swing hard.

Клёво интонирует ! Респект ! Я про бас .
It seems the audio was mixed too quietly!
Like silk
i bet jeff could even make even a remo set sound good. 😉
Tamir Hendelman's TH-cam channel is like a ghost town. Depends on gigs and playing with other people to get exposure.
Amazing player though
It's up to us that like their music to spread the word about it.
why the dfferent thumb nail pic. I wanted to see that other drumset with the really small bass drum

Это , конечно , заготовка , но всё-равно здорово !
is jeff playing a sonor?
AFAIK, he’s a Mapex endorser. We saw him with the B3 trio in Nashville before Covid and a Mapex rep made an announcement/introduction to that effect.
Does music get any better than this?
Technicznie bardzo dobrze, ale sama muzyka - donikąd...
I certainly don't have your fine understanding of music, but as a tone deaf layman I had lots of joy reading those guys.

W pełni zgadzam się z Pana opinią. Wykonawcy to zawodowcy, ale ich muzyka nie przemawia do duszy. Pachnie jakimś bliżej nieokreślonym kłamstwem.
…
very ugly Tomholder ....
unbelievably boring.
Bit boring but at least the prices of peanuts went up
