Another wonderful lesson.
Glad you think so!
Loved your lesson as usual!! One quote I remember clearly from studying poetry at university is from a poem by Robert Burns in which he advises his young friend “An atheist’s scorn is poor exchange for Deity offended”. This has always stuck with me! I translate it in my head as ‘man’s scorn is poor reward for Deity offended’ - it reminds me that it’s not always atheists that can easily offend God, but each one of us in our speech and actions. 💖
Great thought!
Wow, I am so amazed at this wonderful presentation Sis Wilson. I love your slides, they are so helpful. I love what you said about wind and how the Greeks refer to it as the spirit. I think that is quite a beautiful way to frame it. I didnt know that at all, I love learning these amazing things from CFM.
It doesnt surprised me to learn that the healed man ended up in prison with Peter and John just for being healed and for speaking his truth. I have often thought about the Pharisees and the Sadducees and their role in the suffering of the Saviour and his apostles/followers.
I have often looked at them as proucts of centuries of filtered doctrine. They are a combination of all the oppressive pagan practices put on them, along with the teachings of the scriptures rolled into one.
I think anyone whose ever been in a situation where conflicting messages are normalised and accepted can quite easily carry on in life thinking it's totally fine.
I am also speaking from experience with this point and not from an observatory perspective.
I have tried not to be too
judgemental and say words like 'Oh Really?' 'You mean you guys missed the point?' with this group.
As easy as it is for me at times to call them all kinds of bad names, which they deserve, I also know how extremely hard it is to change incorrect mindsets and behaviours without support.
I have seen what happens to individuals today when the light of Christ enters into their hearts and minds. I have seen the change when confusion and false teachings have been lifted. It really is a removing of misunderstandings and a freeing from the incorrect mental and emotional narratives of others to the
enlightening teachings of the spirit.
I know one day the Pharisees and Saducees will understand. I think of the Saviour and of all the conversations he had with them, and even though the discussions were heated at times, he still used those opportunities to teach them. I think in some ways they were alot like children who didnt know/understand. I think at the core of them they would have loved the Saviour. This is my take on it.
Sorry for the long comment. Thank you Sis Wilson and thank you to the amazing team at SC, you guys are always the best ❤.

My prayers for your healing.
God does NOT wait for us, the church, to be ready. We make ourselves ready. He comes when the cup of iniquity is full.
Time stamp 8:12
You're right, it's important for us to take responsibility for our own spiritual preparedness. As we strive to develop our faith, repent of our sins, and be obedient to God's commandments, we are better prepared to meet the challenges life may bring and to face the eventual return of the Lord. The scriptures teach us that we should "watch and pray" (Matthew 26:41) and "be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh" (Matthew 24:44).
Although God is patient and merciful, He has also established a plan and a timeline for His purposes. The Lord has taught that "lowliness, meekness, and long-suffering" are important components of our discipleship (Alma 13:28), but He also expects us to do our part in becoming spiritually ready and keeping His commandments. By doing so, we can better prepare for the day when the Lord will come again and find us "doing" and "becoming" as He has asked. 😊
❤❤❤
Thanks for the video! I found the extra prologue for Acts interesting, do we know which ancient manuscript or inscription it came from? I hadn't heard about it before this video, but I'd be interested in learning more about the ancient source it came from (if possible). Have a good day!
🙏😇
Why is the number forty so significant in the Scriptures
Great question! The number 40 appears in various contexts throughout the scriptures, and it has taken on symbolic significance. Often, the number 40 is associated with periods of trial, testing, or preparation. Here are some examples:
Noah's Flood - It rained for 40 days and 40 nights (Genesis 7:4, 12).
Moses' Experiences - Moses spent 40 days on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments (Exodus 34:28) and had several other 40-day experiences in his life.
Israelite Wanderings - The Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years before entering the promised land (Numbers 14:33-34).
Jonah - Jonah warned the people of Nineveh that they had 40 days to repent (Jonah 3:4).
Jesus - Jesus fasted and was tempted in the wilderness for 40 days (Matthew 4:1-2).
It's important to note that the number 40 might not always be taken literally in these cases. Instead, it can be seen as emphasizing an extended period of time, wherein individuals or groups underwent significant spiritual trials, testing, or growth. Ultimately, the key takeaway is the message of perseverance and the Lord's faithfulness during times of difficulty or transformation.
Thank you that will help a lot in my studying. The Bible versus you gave me was why I was wondering what the hidden meaning was behind them because nothing happens on accident in the scriptures everything has a deeper meaning to it
My understanding of the reading is that The resurrected Lord, before the Pentecost in John 20v22 breathed the Holy Ghost on to the apostles.
The power of the Holy Ghost that they had already received was then manifested by the gift of tongues as the wind filled the house as recorded in Acts 2.
I haven't seen the study pages for the lastvthree lessons. Will they be available soon?
We are working on trying to make that more readily available.
I think in Acts it tells us he ascends into heaven and how he does so, then in the Book of Mormon chronologically, he descends after that to inhabitants of ancient america. THEN he tells them, basically he has other people he needs to go visit, and ascends yet again... where does he go after us?
You are referring to Jesus Christ's ascension in Acts 1 and His appearance to the people in the Book of Mormon in 3 Nephi 11-28. It's true that Christ visited various peoples after His Resurrection. In 3 Nephi 16: 1-3, Jesus said He would visit other sheep that were not understood by the people in Jerusalem:
1 And verily, verily, I say unto you that I have other sheep, which are not of this land, neither of the land of Jerusalem, neither in any parts of that land round about whither I have been to minister. 2 For they of whom I speak are they who have not as yet heard my voice; neither have I at any time manifested myself unto them. 3 But I have received a commandment of the Father that I shall go unto them, and that they shall hear my voice, and shall be numbered among my sheep, that there may be one fold and one shepherd; therefore I go to show myself unto them.
As for where Christ went after visiting the people in the Americas, we don't have a recorded account of which other peoples He visited, but we can trust that He fulfilled His mission to visit "other sheep" as He said, teaching and ministering to them. The important takeaway here is that Jesus loves all of His children and works to bring us together as one fold under Him as the Good Shepherd.
The disciples already had the gift of the Holy Ghost from the Savior (John 20:21-22). What they received on the day of Pentecost was the baptism of the Holy Ghost, or the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost. John the Baptist promised this great gift to all who are baptized (Mathew 3:11). This is a key step in the Doctrine of Christ (2 Nephi 31:17,18). After this mighty change and conversion, Peter and the other apostles were never the same. They preached and healed and cast out devils and did not care about threats and imprisonment from the rulers (Acts 5:12-16). I am not sure why no one teaches about this any more in the church. We should all be seeking for this great event after our baptism, but most members have no idea that it exists, despite the clear teachings in the scriptures. Why not mention casting out devils? Why not hope that we have both the power to cast out devils and the power to heal the sick. These go hand in hand "the sick AND the afflicted"; he afflicted are those with devils and unclean spirits. This is the first gift that Christ gave to his disciples when he sent them out (Luke 9:1). Sadly, another topic not mentioned in the modern church, but one that could have powerful effect on the members.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insights. 😊 It's true that the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost played a significant role in the lives of the early apostles, empowering them to perform miracles, heal the sick, and cast out devils.
While the Church may not currently focus on these specific manifestations as much in regular teachings, the power and influence of the Holy Ghost are still vital to our spiritual growth and understanding. The Church emphasizes seeking the guidance of the Holy Ghost, developing a personal relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and following the modern prophets who continue to receive revelation for the Church.
It's important to remember that spiritual manifestations can vary from person to person, and some may be more subtle than others. The gifts of the Spirit and the workings of the Holy Ghost are still present in the Church today.
As for casting out devils, it's important to acknowledge that it's a spiritual gift, and not everyone may have this specific gift or calling. But the Church does encourage us to seek an increased understanding of how the Holy Ghost can work in our lives, as well as to study and pray about the gifts of the Spirit, so we can more effectively serve and bless others.
If you feel a personal connection to these topics, we encourage you to continue studying and seeking additional insight through prayer and personal revelation. It's also helpful to discuss your thoughts with your local Church leaders and fellow members, so that together, you can support and inspire one another in your understanding of the gospel and spiritual growth. 😊
@@scripturecentralofficial I would like to discuss this with my local church leaders, but they have no idea what to say on these topics. Since the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost is not taught in the church today (it is part of the Doctrine of Christ, yet no one bothers to mention it), and since the casting out of devils and unclean spirits is virtually unknown in the church, they have nothing to tell me. It would be nice if some of you smart podcasters would start teaching about these true doctrines like the brethren use to teach in the church, so that the members could be educated on this.
Great feedback. Thanks!
