Awesome K5LLA compilation, one of my personal favorite horns! I love those Round Tag K5LLA's with the two-piece 1L bell featured on early SD70ACe's and SD70M-2's for their almost K5LA-like nostalgic sounds (they basically are K5LA's minus the #5 bell plus the #1L). But I also love the Raised Letter K5LLA for it's loud and commanding sound. Super nice!
@@IceFoxTrainSpotting it's a heritage unit painted by Norfolk Southern for their 30th anniversary back in 2012. It's one of 20 heritage units that they have.
Norfolk7130 Yes it would. I just really like these horns because they rattle your ears when its blown. Also, they can be heard at least a couple of blocks to a mile away since they are so loud.
The sound of K5LLA's are pretty common in Sacramento, CA nowadays with all those recent GE Evolution and EMD SD70ACe locomotives going through town....
slenderman7676 Rblx yes VIA rail uses a canadian tuned variant of the K5LLA for their F40PH-3Ds and P42DCs. The F40PH-3Ds use a split manifold version of the horn known as a K5CA-LS and are mounted on the roof of the F40s above the engineers and secondmans side of the cab; One manifold contains 2 bells while the other contains 3 bells. The P42DC uses a single manifold mounted version of the horn known as a K5LL-CA. They are mounted on top of the P42s just above the engineers side of the cab. However the regular horns for these locomotives are the horns mostly used in mainline operation. So for the P42DCs the standerd horns are Early 90s K5LAs, or Hybrid K5LAs. They are mounted on the P42DC in a horn slit in the middle of the locomotive usually seen on the right hand side. The F40PH-3Ds use Canadian tuned K3Ls they are mounted on the top of the locomotive right behind the exhaust port. So for both locomotives the K5LLA horns are only used for emergency or if the standerd horn becomes fouled.
They're normally on SD70M-2 and almost all SD70A variant. CSX only has a handful so not surprised they would put K5LA's on all of them and BNSF has Ace's and they have them
Basically, GEVO's have K5HL's for the most part, SD70ACe and SD70M-2's have K5LLA's and everything else depends on what the company chooses to put on the loco, anything not a GEVO or SD70 on BNSF has a K3LA same for UP, NS and CSX are the same except the have K5LA's on everything else

do VIA rail use K5LLAs as the emergency horn fittings on their F40PH fleet?
Im not completely sure. I know that they're two horns on them one being a K3L and the other looks like a 2 chime horn so I have no idea.
