I've noticed that alot with some of my favorites when they do a special on Netflix. Sometimes I'll just skip em because I know they're too scripted and better off the cuff. It takes balls to get up there and do that!

I'm amazed that nobody in this comment section has commented on how fk'd up that dudes living situation was/is. Imagine living in a house with a man who makes you uncomfortable by licking your underwear while aggressively staring at you, but your cool with it because he gave you a job. I'd be surprised to hear that dusty is still alive.
some people have seen the world for what it is: a fucked up place. to me that story is not surprising at all, bunch of weirdos out there! not everybody is privileged enough to pick and choose what their living situation is gonna be. sometimes you just have to eat shit and hope its gonna get better.

The first 20-30 episodes they had this guy Jeff Crabtree in a full iron patriot suit as “head of security”. He thought he was too big for the show and he quit, said he was irreplaceable. And in response to that. Tony had randoms or even guest comics play the role of iron patriot to show how replaceable he was.
P.S- if you wanna go down a strange rabbit hole look up iron patriot and see what he’s up to nowadays
That is the legendary Brody Stevens, who commited suicide. He was often on the panel aswell, and if you bring him up on Tony nowadays, Tony gets sad and melancholy.
The bit used to be to have an Iron Man themed bodyguard next to the stage, but the first guy who played the American version "Iron Patriot" was mentally unwell. (Episodes 1-29)
Episodes 30-180 they continued with the theme, without the suit, just the gloves.

I haven't seen that guy in a long time. He is representative of old school Kill Tony versus new school KT-- real comics who were working hard back in the day versus failed actors and hot young ladies of all professions who just want to get noticed these days.
They definitely still have real wannabe comics who are grinding but they do have a lot of clout chasers and bucket listers but it’s a good mix I think back in the day it seemed very chaotic.
@@adam12671 It’s good NOW imo. When they moved to TX they ditched the narcissistic actors and musicians who didn’t even care about comedy. You still see them from time to time, but nearly at the same L.A. rate

So for the people who don’t understand comedy, the reason they keep “interrupting” Dusty is because they are asking questions that will have the story be interesting and funny. When comedians tell stories they have smaller jokes the are precursors to the stories punchline which keep the crowd laughing and engaged. Also his stories are very jagged and don’t seem to have a consistent stream of consciousness.

This show is cool cause it gives new comics a chance they may otherwise not have but Tony's approach and overall tone as a critic on a panel of comedians is so foolish at times. He can drive narratives throughout the show to control what gets laughs. It's kind of defeating the purpose of the show. I love seeing him get roasted that's really the draw lol

They didn’t actually want him to finish the story they just wanted to riff off of everything he said. Shits painful to see, especially since nowadays Tony is hyper focused on getting the interviewees to answer his questions. (And even gets frustrated when they don’t) Glad the show has come a long way. They couldn’t have grown to where they are now doing this as often as they used to.

I honestly liked this show. But I do notice that even if you are good and a decent comic and actually kill, Tony will still try to shit all over you if he doesn't like you or thinks you're not going to play by their rules. *Which fair enough it's his show he can shit on the floor if he wants*. If there is any chance of a clever newer comic looking like they are getting the upper hand Tony will interrupt the living shit out of them during the interview with Redband's shitty stock stream deck sfx. Tony will not allow them to "Unless you're a select few" roast him or his rich famous comic friends. So, all that bullshit about helping newer comics get their time to shine is really just Tony making sure that only the 1% "His friends or brown-nosing wannabe comics" get to be part of their little club. I'm not sure how many comics can really get a crowd going in a minute unless you're an absolute genius like Mitch Hedberg. It feels like a bunch of rich L.A. 1%ers making sure no one else gets a piece of the pie unless they say so. I don't think anyone would know who Redband or Tony was if it wasn't for Joe Rogan. Every time Joe was on you could see how uncomfortable he was at shitting on people that tried and bombed. He knows how long it takes to master that craft. Obviously that mentality changed later because it was kind of making Tony look like a cunt. I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen Tony say some retarded ass shit that nobody laughed at, and his buddies had to swoop in and save him. Also seems like Redband has some prewritten jokes pulled up on his computer that Tony looks at on occasion when he's really fucking up. Also noticed how creepy Redband is. Dude is a fucking weirdo. I agree. Redban is a nobody and tbh Tony would be too if not for Joe. There’s reasons Joe cut ties with Redban, Tony is a bit whiny at times too. I’ve noticed they have no issue making others uncomfortable or put on the verge of suicide but as soon as someone get Tony in that position his ball lickers come to save the day for him and start defending him and turning the crowd against them. KT is a great show especially nowadays, but even nowadays I’m listening to episodes and find myself feeling bad for someone, feeling Tony’s ego come through my speaker, or hearing Redban say some sus shit under the guise of “comedy”. I didn't read the whole 3 part book series you wrote, but I agree with the first part about Tony over-controlling the dialog. However, the last few months he seems to have completely changed that. I'd give the newer episodes another try. I would never have listened to KT if it was still like that, but now it's pretty good.
He does say some cruel sh¡t but i think in the comedy realm you are supposed to be able get thru and take some ridicule/busting your chops... I have never seen anyone give the handicapped such a huge platform and handle it with patience
