Thank you for this. I have both a 2014 and a 1954 and the glowing difference is that one's very "green" and the other one has been played the sh... out of lol But they are different guitars from birth, the older one having true acoustic and electric voices, as the newer one being just an excellent "tool" to do really well what it's supposed to do. Both incredible guitars, making a comparison is a grand idea, useful for just any L-5 fans out there. And you play beautifully, thanks again!
I slightly prefer the sound of the 1953 - it seems to have just a bit more open sound. But both guitars sound beautiful because of the playing. This is real proof that the guitarist's sound is in his fingers, and you have an excellent sound.
The L5 with the alnico feels like I'm listening to the strings, the L5 humbicker feels like I'm listening to the pick ups. The alnico has a more Spanish flavor to it.
the 1953 L5 sounds more acoustic - kinda like an L5 Acoustic with a floating pickup. The 2008 is gorgeous and luminous. Apples and oranges. Love them both! Peace. Your playing is nice!

the 08 sounds nice enough
the 1953 sounds divine, that's on another level.

Both very nice sounding instruments. But your playing is exelent too !!!!
nice..and thank you .in this case i prefer the L5 from 2008.(nice playing too)
very nice playing, great demo.
Very nice. Both are beautiful guitars. To my ears, I like the '57 classic pickups better.
Thinking about getting an L5. Do you find the size of the body comfortable to hold?
totally comfortable. Dont hesitate. THey are THE jazz guitar.
Beautiful. What's the name of the song you play? It sounds very familiar, but I can't remember the name.
"These Foolish Things"
callaham bridge with abs, nylon, & titanium saddles/earvana shelf nut or sound offset spacer-necessary imho
Both sound beautiful; the '53 is more beautifuller.
