We let Sunday funday get the best of us and book a last minute flight to VEGAS! We spend our days off touring Vegas during a pandemic, but mostly...we nap. I talk about how I finally realized and accepted that working in healthcare during COVID has finally taken its toll on me and my mental health. Forever grateful for my amazing support system!
I am a traveling Respiratory Therapist. Follow along as I begin an 8 week California Crisis Float Pool assignment with my boyfriend. Our assignment as respiratory therapists can deploy us to any area in California. We could be working in hospitals, stadiums, LTACHs, and wherever our agency finds placement for us. If you're interested on taking the leap as a traveler, be sure to SUBSCRIBE + turn on those notifications to follow along on my RT travel journey!

Welcome to my channel! I wanted to create a space that I could collect my video diaries as I travel around working as a respiratory therapist. I've been a travel therapist since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 and couldn't imagine ever going back! I'll show you the pros and cons of travel life. I'll also try to share some tips on what I've learned along the way for anyone considering a career in respiratory or taking that step to become a travel therapist. If you've ever wondered what it's like to travel as a respiratory therapist, follow along!
I also wanted to make this space a place where I can share different pieces of my life. So, let me take you along on the mini journeys that come along with this lifestyle. Why, TheRachelProject? Because life is a constant work in progress and I love watching where the ups and downs take me!

Do you still work at your Dallas hospital or are you strictly traveling for now on? I’m almost done with my second semester of RT school and I’ve always wanted to travel, but I want to gain more experience by working in a hospital 1st. Is it possible to take time off from your hospital job (after working there a couple years) during summer time to travel and return to the hospital the following fall and still have a job at the hospital ?

Hi! I left my perm position in Dallas in June of last year. I would DEFINITELY recommend working in a perm position before traveling to get more experience. It will make your transition to traveling less stressful.
Taking time off would depend on your facility. But, I do know a few RTs that stay PRN at their perm position and take a travel contract at the same time. Let me know if you have any other questions!
