    I listened to the whole interview and the biggest problem I had with Brian France is his constant analogies with other businesses/sports to equate to how he ran NASCAR. He used the restaurant analogy here, but he went on constantly about the NBA and the NFL and said NASCAR was most similar to the PGA. What? Why do the comparison? I could understand if he only used other forms of motorsports like IndyCar or F1, but the problem I had with Brian and even Bill Jr., was the constant position was that NASCAR could be bigger than the NFL. Not going to happen, never going to happen, because they are NOT the same. I encourage everyone to listen to the whole thing; he admitted to being arrogant and more than a little entitled, but didn't apologize for being that way. PO'd at Dale Jr when he blurted out that NASCAR was blood thirsty, when is own father was taken from him because of that same scenario where a broken system wasn't getting fixed? Nah, Brian was a jerk back then and is still a jerk.

I think that Jr and Mike both just stayed away from the tougher questions or digging more into other subjects (i.e. Mayfield) just so that they could keep the conversation going. Brian France essentially started "The Big One" that's (somewhat) still crashing to this day because Steve Phelps and Co. won't get rid of the gimmicks. Weird how nothing they try works, but TV numbers started going down after the Chase/Playoffs started and it's been the only constant here. All these "moments" he loved from the playoffs, but hated all the controversies that would never have happened without the playoffs. And it's the reason the fanbase is as reactionary as it is (beside the trolls)

You get rid of the sports entertainment The value decreases so then the TV money isn't going to go up or stay the same as it is now it's going to decrease The sponsorship money that NASCAR gets from like Anheuser-Busch, Comcast even Coca-Cola and Geico going to take a dive when them contracts are for renewal

    First off! He NEVER answers the question/questions! HAHA ... I was a HUGE RACING/NASCAR fan. Nascar has now became a fond memory. I CAN'T STAND THE WAY IT IS NOW! Safety I totally admire! More road courses is a plus in my view, I even let the Yellow Flag-LAP BACK thing slid by. They changed the season tracks to try and stop Jimmy from winning/rules and other things to stop it, and I'm not a Jimmy backer, but I respect him and like him. Now they've turned it into a GT or GTE series. (Stock Car) left the sport when it got a little more popular and regulations stopped the (Good ol'boys from playing.) MONEY in the promoters took hold and it was just a matter of time. This heat 1/2/3 crap is a joke. They have changed the cars to a level that just shuts me down personally. Don't get me wrong...I Liked Stock Car racing (NASCAR) but...they stopped being STOCK many-many years ago. That's not really my gripe. Richard Petty and CO. served as the last line of real stock car drivers. The questions you ask yourself is what happened and why is it this way now? GREED/MONEY. When you can't identify the reason for something changing to levels you don't understand and dislike, The answer is ALWAYS MONEY! Just like politics and everything else in your life.....MONEY! p.s. sorry i rambled and it's confusing but it's true.

    Respect to Brian France for owning some of his mistakes, but I still blame the massive decline of NASCAR on him. I used to never miss a practice. Now? I haven’t watched a lap of a race in over 3 years. The COT, the Chase, the Stages, etc. were prime examples of one thing, bad management.

  • @TomahawkAssault
    @TomahawkAssault 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    NASCAR was very popular and was still growing BEFORE 2004 and the introduction of the Chase/Playoffs. It did not need to be tampered with in that way. There were other, smaller changes/enhancements that could have been made which didn't so drastically change the character of the sport. Brian talked about college football and its traditions, well NASCAR destroyed its traditions with the Chase, which actually could have been serviceable had they not kept constantly fiddling with it and changing it. The Chase, then the Playoffs, then they changed the number of drivers from 10 to 12, then to 16, then changed how you got in, then changed the points system itself, then added green-white-checkereds, then the stupid "Car of Tomorrow," then stages... the changes never stopped coming and that is why I and many others just completely lost interest. When something you love is changed, that can hurt, but if it was a good change, you can often come around to the new product if it's left alone and the initial change is given ample time to work. But when a drastic change is made, followed by another drastic change, and another, and another... It just tends to leave a lot of loyal fans in the dust and turns a beloved product into something unrecognizable. That is what Brian did to NASCAR.

    • @jimgillett1184
      @jimgillett1184 2 ปีที่แล้ว

His Talladega comment about (how Dale wasn't the only driver/team with issues at Talladega) gave me the impression he doesn't listen to drivers/ teams; he just takes it personal). This is why people are losing interest in NASCAR racing. Heck, you get more realistic competition in WWE.

    A lot of irony to hear the worst executive in sports history say the drivers were hurting the brand. This guy was handed a golden platter and traded it for a piece of paper towel and a hot pocket. With the main encore being what I considered to be perfection. The races at Bristol. Everything that made stockcar racing great. Back to the roots. It sold out 55 times in a row. Over 25 years of not one empty seat. The formula was so simple that to this day I don't understand how he screwed it up so bad. All he had to do was not touch it. That's it. When someone trust you with the Mona Lisa you don't pull out a sharpie and draw a smiley face on it in the name of "bringing in more fans". You DONT TOUCH IT. In a handful of years this jagoff has them dumping dirt on bristol just to try and get someone willing to come see the abomination he clustered up together. I thought I would go my entire life never missing a Bristol race and in no time flat this moron ruined it and I haven't tuned in in a long time.

    With all due respect, you can have the family name, doesn't mean you were right for the job. Bill and Bill Jr were just two exceptional people in a exceptional position they were designed perfectly for at a particular point in time, an important point in time. Maybe he's a great dude, but he was the wrong guy with the wrong vision. Thank his lucky stars he had Mike who honestly, should've been in Brian's chair.
    But man, what a snag to get Brian on the show so people can learn more about the guy. No barriers Jr! Love that! Open to anything. I don't see my opinion changing based on the results, but I always compared him to Tony George - the guy who ruined Indycar. Not convinced I was off base yet, but it's good to hear it from the mouth of the guy in his own words. I commend him for that much. Don't have to agree to have the conversation. dialog is beautiful.
    As for his personal stuff, eh, nobody here's been a nun their whole life. Don't mean nothing other than being a bully and claiming the moral high ground which is a punk ass move trying to virtue signal. Everyone has secrets.
