yes... and the virtoba x5 yeah, it's actually better, imo. use your OWN headphones! i have tried both. bobovr and virtoba. i prefer the virtoba version without the headphones... lighter and no stretching that rinky-tink cheap audio cable that is so cheap on the bobovr... it will fail! the cable is cheap!... when the cable fails...break out your dremel and start cutting the cheap headphones off?. no thanks!! just go virtoba version WITHOUT headphones and thank me later... And virtoba comes with QR code for cardboard btw, in case any one was wondering. GET THE ONE WITHOUT HEADPHONES! They are the same! Use a decent set of headphones(Sony etc) and you are set. Trust me... the one WITHOUT headphones is the way to go!...yeah... the lenses/goggles are identical!

I got mine a couple days ago. Keep in mind, the only other set I've ever used is a really cheap, uncomfortable, headset with pretty crappy lenses. Thing is, the Bobovr doesn't cost much more than that one did. So, I'm coming from a pretty low standard. All that being said, I'm pretty blown away by the comfort and visual quality of this. Changes an experience that I was already enjoying into something far far better.
+Tim Oakley Yeah its actually pretty great for what it is, when I tried the Vive, Oculus & OSVR at a mini NCIX event, I found my Z4 to have a better lens & comfort but keep in mind when I tested those there, all I had was some roller coaster demo and pirate hunter trainer, and they were being used by many, I didn't get to set the straps to fit me and the lens were not adjusted and were kinda dirty, but May 14, I am going to CVR & I will be documenting it, giving my opinion and showing you guys around

What i did in order to use the audio from my pc while using trinus vr is i used a stereo extension cable and connected the build in headphones with my pc
that is really smart! I didn't think about doing that as I just ordered one for myself but had that same question about hooking it up to my PC for VR and getting the sound! Thanks for a life hack/tip!

Can you see the black edge and and the black parts of the vr when you look left and right? As I remember when I tried gear vr, wherever I look is all screen.
Do you suggest BOBO Mini as a great vr headset? I could use there headphones and it would be cheaper but would they be front heavy without the headphones? I want to get the Daydream but I heard that the FOV is only 90 on that and BOBO is 110. I want a cheap pair that is comfortable and affortable even if I get the Daydream too. it does sound like this headset checks all the boxes (except for use of glasses) to beat the ritech vmax, I know fov isn't the same for everyone but a whole 20+ degrees extra is quite the jump why do you prefer the ritech vmax over this one?
Is the quality of the image good such as the Samsung Gear VR? or it's just like the other cheap Chinese VR's but with a built in headset & better material
Looks awesome for $30.! It's hard to find a decent pair of headphones by themselves for that much so I wouldn't expect audiophile quality cans on this thing. Just looks like an awesome convenience! I have a Dolby Atmos mod on my phone so I'm sure I could make them sound better. =)
Finally bought the Virtoba X5 Elite (boboVR Z4 without the headphone)... and all is pretty good except few defaults: - there is some disturbing chromatic aberation on the lenses (blue and yellow edges). - the headset let a good amount of light passing through - When I adjust the lenses to get a sharp image, I loose the immersive FOV unfortunately.

hello, my z4 has arrived today and I have to say its amazing. it hasn't total immersion, but its ok. I had a nexus 6 so I doubt any other RV helmet can do it better. One more think, speakers are greate. Thanks VRKommando for your all tips.
You get total immersion with some games like proton pulse, in this game you don't feel inside a video ,but in a huge hall. So it will depend on the media or game you choose to see. There are black frames but with huge image. With nexus 6 you will see little frames, but if you have a 5" phone you will see more black frames. I have a nexus 5 and there's a big diference.

I got the Z3 edition of this and using it with my ZUK Z2, 5 Inch smartphone. My problem with this is, that I can see the borders of the phone... really disturbing. Is that also the case with BoboVR Z4?

Cool, I use a GearVR for general androidVR and cardboard (dont plug in usb). Z4 looks maybe similar optical quality and FOV, will be good to hear your comparison.

was hoping he touched on whats the perfect size phone for this. I have 2 phones and the smaller one you can see light coming of the sides and a slightly bigger phone thats good but I tend to see double images or overlapping image. I'm guessing a phone that fits the full screen is best but what phones would those be.

Hello. I just got one of these headsets and the action button doesn't work on my iPhone 6 screen. I also have tempered glass on my phone. Is that why it's not working?

I just got these for the headphone feature and it seems the volume rocker only works on ios. The foam padding is a different material as well I think. It's a breathable leather. I chose these over the one you recommend because i'm too lazy to set up my headphones and I hate wires. Disappointed that I can't use the volume on Android. It's better then my Homido by miles though and cheaper so I'm happy. =)

However, would also like to order a Bluetooth remote. Can you recommend one? I have an IPhone, and have read where a Bluetooth remote cannot work with the iPhone, as far as all the functions needed? And it's hard to tell looking at all the remotes out there to find one that can do all the controlling needed for moving videos, playing games, etc.

I went ahead and ordered a Z3 for the time being, since that is much cheaper to import than the Z4 for now (20€ with the bluetooth clicker vs. at 40 to 57€ because of import taxes depending on luck). I used a modded (padding/straps) Google Cardboard V1 with my LG G2 for a bit and found it a good experience, hopefully this will be even better. Looking forward to future content!

+Lorenzo Lucchini just got my z4 couple days ago. very well balanced, immersive experience. sound, balance. blocks light, clear. large lenses. fov not the best, but very enjoyable overall with a 5.5 inch phone. cutting through some plastic in the nose area allows eyes to get close to lenses, and larger fov,. if you don't mind modding, great great choice. although I too am curious about SVR lenses and fov. but it lacks features of z4 . I think better to wait for something like SVR but with more features to come out. Google will announce a mobile headset soon.

Mine arrived today, but although the Capacitive Touch Button appears to work, i.e. when you press the button on the base of the headset, the foam pointer inside the headset moves out and pushes against the smartphone, it doesn't actually work with any of the apps. I've tried with both the Google Cardboard demo act and one other; and with both an iPhone 6s and Samsung 5 Neo. But although I focus the "dot" on the relevant button in the app, nothing happens when I click the Touch Button. Does it work for you, or do I have a faulty unit?
Will an iPhone 5s in an Otterbox case fit in these? I really hate taking my phone in & out of its case b/c the case wears out a little more every time you do that. Thanks!
I dont think so, I do hate it when I have to take my thin case out in other headsets but It should fit a tight fit, I tested my otterbox that I dont use and you gotta use some force to close the door, you could always remove the metal bracket but it should fit fine

+Sam M Take the phone out and see the maximum available FOV. then compare it to other headsets. You'll see the FOV is pretty much the same. Typical chinese crap. They hyped the $10 headset with stupid claims and unfortunately people believed them.
It's still less than 100 because of the design and the lenses that are not designed for anything more than 85fov. These are just "standard" google cardboard lenses. It's unfortunate BoboVR is a SCAM. Too sad,but I guess we should have expected this from fly by night chinese companies.

was hoping he touched on whats the perfect size phone for this. I have 2 phones and the smaller one you can see light coming of the sides and a slightly bigger phone thats good but I tend to see double images or overlapping image. I'm guessing a phone that fits the full screen is best but what phones would those be.
So would this be the BEST headset for lens quality, comfort, first time users, and iPhone users. Also is it fully optimized for google VR with the magnet button. Thanks anyone that answers! I'm trying to buy my first pair and need some help.

Hello. I just got one of these headsets and the action button doesn't work on my iPhone 6 screen. I also have tempered glass on my phone. Is that why it's not working?

Yes. Download porn hub app and select the viewer "cardboard" instead of bobovr z4 by pressing the settings (gear) icon on the split screen and enjoy

I just got these for the headphone feature and it seems the volume rocker only works on ios. The foam padding is a different material as well I think. It's a breathable leather. I chose these over the one you recommend because i'm too lazy to set up my headphones and I hate wires. Disappointed that I can't use the volume on Android. It's better then my Homido by miles though and cheaper so I'm happy. =)
What if you have the headphone jack on the other side? because it seemes like the cable for the headphones is really short.
Great Review, just ordered one!Question on Bluetooth remote. I know this has one of those controller buttons on the headset, big selling point for me. However, would also like to order a Bluetooth remote. Can you recommend one? I have an IPhone, and have read where a Bluetooth remote cannot work with the iPhone, as far as all the functions needed? And it's hard to tell looking at all the remotes out there to find one that can do all the controlling needed for moving videos, playing games, etc.

+DA666 The someone who said it has problems, has thick case on his nexus 6, it should be just fine since my lg g3 with the case is thicker than your nexus and it still fit

I went ahead and ordered a Z3 for the time being, since that is much cheaper to import than the Z4 for now (20€ with the bluetooth clicker vs. at 40 to 57€ because of import taxes depending on luck). I used a modded (padding/straps) Google Cardboard V1 with my LG G2 for a bit and found it a good experience, hopefully this will be even better. Looking forward to future content!

+Lorenzo Lucchini just got my z4 couple days ago. very well balanced, immersive experience. sound, balance. blocks light, clear. large lenses. fov not the best, but very enjoyable overall with a 5.5 inch phone. cutting through some plastic in the nose area allows eyes to get close to lenses, and larger fov,. if you don't mind modding, great great choice. although I too am curious about SVR lenses and fov. but it lacks features of z4 . I think better to wait for something like SVR but with more features to come out. Google will announce a mobile headset soon.
+Lorenzo Lucchini I feel the opposite is true. you CAn increase fov by moving eyes closer to lenses. you cannot re create a volume control button. or a touch button. or flcus/ips adjustment knobs

Hi, can I connect this to my PC or TV and watch movies from there because my phone doesn't support 4k and 1080p ?
PC you can play some pcvr games using riftcat, but for watching you use a vr video player to watch movies
Mine arrived today, but although the Capacitive Touch Button appears to work, i.e. when you press the button on the base of the headset, the foam pointer inside the headset moves out and pushes against the smartphone, it doesn't actually work with any of the apps. I've tried with both the Google Cardboard demo act and one other; and with both an iPhone 6s and Samsung 5 Neo. But although I focus the "dot" on the relevant button in the app, nothing happens when I click the Touch Button. Does it work for you, or do I have a faulty unit?
Its a reoccurring problem with these kind of touch inputs samething with the Riem 3, I am working on a fix

I dont think so, I do hate it when I have to take my thin case out in other headsets but It should fit a tight fit, I tested my otterbox that I dont use and you gotta use some force to close the door, you could always remove the metal bracket but it should fit fine

FOV is no more than 100 degrees. But more like 95 or so. I was a bit disappointed.
+Sam M Take the phone out and see the maximum available FOV. then compare it to other headsets. You'll see the FOV is pretty much the same. Typical chinese crap. They hyped the $10 headset with stupid claims and unfortunately people believed them.
It's still less than 100 because of the design and the lenses that are not designed for anything more than 85fov. These are just "standard" google cardboard lenses. It's unfortunate BoboVR is a SCAM. Too sad,but I guess we should have expected this from fly by night chinese companies.
