You could also argue that the job market for this field is expected to do ridiculously well in the next 20+ years. Meaning, if you do become a PTA, it's not going to be relatively difficult to find a job because there's a demand for it aaaannnnnd this job is not going to be targeted by automation down the road. You have to really want to do it though. I know someone who is going to study to be a PTA and she is only doing it because she doesn't know what she really wants and thinks she can easily get and keep a job.
For the time and effort, I would say the salary is more than average. In texas, I get paid fairly well. I pay my mortgage and car with no issues whatsoever. Thes schedule is the cherry on top for me
David Vuong what is the schedule like? Is it like bad bad? 😬🤔 Im thinking of becoming a PTA but want to learn the most I can of this field before I make my decision. Thank bud
Leonardo Garcia I’m a Florida and Texas PTA. I worked in SNF travel therapy and now working in outpatient sports orthopedics. Schedule wise, in outpatient, Mon-Fri only, paid holidays and PDO aside from benefits you get. In SNF, you don’t get holidays but you get PDO and you don’t usually use the skills in Physical therapy unlike in Outpatient setting.
man, 3 years ago I was watching these videos deciding if this was the right path, now I am on my last year of the PTA program, made life long friends, and am antsy to take my license exam. Crazy how life works! I definitely made the right choice!
Thank you for all your replies I believe I can do it. I just need to prepare and work very hard the first day and carry it out. I agree. I'm 23 years old and I'm starting over as well. Everyone takes a different path in life, and as long as you are moving forward and you're focused on the prize, you will always succeed! Best of luck!
I’m 36 and looking at a PTA program, and I have a good friend who went into the program with no previous PTA knowledge at 35, as a second career, and is very glad that he is a PTA now. I like your attitude, whether you go PTA or not. I’ve had to think about it because it’s a new career for me; I found doing observations at inpatient and outpatient spots very helpful in making my decision.
I’m so wondering if I should pursue math major or this major. I heard math major does need computer skills but I hate it. Your excitement makes me more excited in pta major:))
Yes! To restore people's physically and mentally by improving their strength so they can move freely with the limitation of pain, and enjoy their lives as long as they can. Let's go, Team!

@@AntonioSanson hey. You are doing grear.. i have a question i have completed my Bachelors in Pharmacy from india can i pursue my PTA course in canada.
I'm currently in the PTA program, and I can tell your viewers that the workload is intense. PTA school is more involved than a full-time job, compares with higher level programs (such as bachelor's & master's) in regards to technicality and application based thought, and requires 50-60+ hrs per week of class/study time commitment to be truly proficient. Otherwise, it's an exciting field that is constantly evolving and will continuously engage and challenge you as you grow in the role. I can't wait to start practicing!
@@dustinwhite6885 I had classmates that worked part time and some with young children at home and they were constantly overwhelmed and stressed out. It’s not impossible, but if you want to really understand the material and be a great student (not just get by) I wouldn’t work more than part-time.
@@isaacmiller530 thanks for the feedback. Sounds intense. I have a mortgage so that's no option to work part time. Nothing is impossible though. I would tell my younger self to try more things and figure it out before having responsibilities.
I'm currently halfway through my 18-month PTA program! So it's even more accelerated than your program was from the sounds of it lol But regardless of the intensity, I love this field! No regrets at all!!
Just last week I finished my first 6-week clinical! It was awesome! Now I have a small break until August when I return to class, and then have my second internship which is 8-weeks long, and directly following that internship, I graduate! The clinic I did my first 6-week internship at liked me so much, they hired me as a PT Tech over this summer break I have until I go back to school! So i'm able to keep practicing, learning, and keeping my skills sharp.
I’m a senior in high school and I’ve been feeling incredibly lost in deciding what I want to be and where I want to attend. I dread staying in an office all day. I wish to be more active and on my feet. I do value helping others and believe I’m an open person to talk to. I’m leaning towards this career
Just found your channel and subscribed 👏🏽 I’m in my second semester and boy is it hard 😅 but can’t wait to graduate and start working as a PTA. You’re right, it’s a very rewarding job. Thanks for your videos, keep them coming. Very informative 👍🏽
I love watching your videos!! I get a lot of information from them! I had some trouble deciding what major I wanted but over time I've decided I want to become a pta!I have a lot of family in the medical field that can help me so I'm taking pre-reqs thanks for the info!!
Good video bro ! I am looking forward to this program I’ve been doing flooring for 9 years already had my own buisness ... but now I want to try something different. I like helping people out! I’m 24 years old .
I’m looking at the cons cause I’m probably about to flunk out in my second semester. Pathology is killing me. I’m trying not be in total despair. I’ll have to go back cause there’s no future in my current job as a massage therapist.
I’ve discovered that some PTAs receive close to 100k depending on your boss and if it’s a sole proprietorship. Although, I only know a couple because of where they are located that brings in loads of wealthy clients
OMG Thank you so much for your wonderful videos! I just subscribed to your channel! I am a PTA grad from Connecticut going to my boards exam in 2 weeks and turning 40 in a few months😊Absolutely love this profession! Not sure if was this video or the other that you mentioned “40 years...” LOL I might not be actively working🤔 I love your channel thank you again!
Dalmabela 0915 that is way awesome! I wish you the best for your PTA exam! My next video I’m posting talks about what the test is kind of like so check back in on Saturday if you wanna see it.
Antonio Sanson Absolutely will definitely check it out. As I was listening to you it made me so so proud to become a future licensed PTA. Coming to USA from overseas I feel blessed to live what I call my American Dream in a near future! Thank you again 💕
This is informative Antonio. Thank you!! I already have a bachelors degree in social work. I ve been considering PTA though for the last years or so. I had a stroke when I was 21 so therefore I dont have a whole lot of confidence in completing a PTA program, but I want to do it real bad!! I havent been able to find a job with my social work degree. I just turned 37. Anyway...very informative.
Kristofor Wilson I’m sorry to hear about your past man, but I’m excited for your future! Keep trying your best, that’s all you can do! I believe you still have so much potential. Work hard and let me know how things go or if you have any questions along the way.
Hi Kristofor, I am so sorry about what happened to you in the past. I pray you continue to get better and better. I also have my bachelor's in social work and I also have my master's in social work. I don't have a license in social work so finding a job in social work is hard so I know what you mean. Currently, I work as a case manager. The pay in case management sucks, the benefits sucks, and it's not stable. I'm currently looking for another job in the social work field but still no luck. Without a license, it's sooooo hard to find a job in social work. I went back to get my masters in social work hoping that I would have a better chance of finding a great paying job in social work, but the truth is, it's hard. I've been thinking about going back to school to get a PTA degree and then eventually go to PT school. I'm 34 year old so I'm not if it's too late to go back because I'm tired of school.
I'm excited. I majored in Massage Therapy. The are a lot of PTA programs that have extra points for people who majored in massage or have their license. I want to be a PTA and be a LMT on the side. I heard something about a payment cut from Medicare? Or something like that though in the upcoming years
My fourth sister is a PT and I followed her steps, but I only could study to become a PTA. Other than that, I love being on feet and receiving the satisfaction for doing my job. PT or PTA is personally for me the most amazing job to do.
Finally taking prerequisites for the PTA program at my local community college. So excited! I just hope I can handle it, since I'm a fairly petite woman.
I’m scared to choose a field career, but I now have opportunity to do so, I broke my ankle and went through physical therapy and I absolutely loved the atmosphere that I now want to become a PTA.. I’m 35 now and it’s a 2 year degree I first wanted to pursue registered nursing
I think valid points were made on both sides. The issue of not having room for advancement hits a sore spot for me however, if a PTA works in a NH/ALF or hospital these business work department-wise and a PTA can apply to head of the dept. although depending on the employer most times the PT is the supervising mgr. I think traveling PTA's make the most because they can hustle - hmm.. is there a video on this channel explaining the IN's and OUT's of being a Traveling PTA?
Jessica Rivera not quite yet, I plan to make one in the future talking about what to expect for traveling PTA’s. But yah I know how you feel about advancements though, that’s why mehgan and I started our own clinic.
Jessica Rivera I was traveling PTA before. If you’re single and loves to travel, travel therapy for you and you make at least 70k/year (that’s what I make before as a travel PTA. I now have my own practice with my buddy who is a DPT)
I’m still deciding whether to be a PTA or OTA because both are great careers. It’s a very hard decision to make considering some of the differences between the two as well as the very similar aspects of both
Well the program usually costs between 25-30k after tuition and books and your exam and everything. Also it is just a big investment when it comes to time spent, effort, studying, and all of that. You have to be determined to complete it so you don't give up and quit. Its a lot of work but I think you can do it!
Go for it JC. You are young and by the time you're 29, you'll get to be a doctor if you decide to go for PT. I'm 34 and I have my Bachelor's and Master's in Social and I don't think I want to be a social worker anymore and have been thinking about going back to school to do PTA and then get my Doctorate in PT. By the time I'll be 39, I'll be receiving my doctorate in PT. I'll be up there in age and not happy about it. I wish I could go back to my early 20s and choose PTA to PT route instead of Social Work. If I were you, I would definitely go for my PTA while 23. You're so young so definitely go for it. 🙂
I like this thinking, those are my thoughts as well. Although I am happy with what the average salary is for PTA for the amount of work, I also would like some more money (aka investments).
Katie Marcontell it’s pretty tough, you just are constantly studying and preparing for upcoming tests and comps. Once you get in the rhythm of it though it’s not as bad.
Nurses make 2 to 3x what a PTA makes, if they work inpatient. Nurses also tend to make $10,000-$30,000 more than the vast majorities of DPTs as well. DPT is a scam, unless you plan to go outpatient orthopedic, and run your own business or work with high end athletes.
@@MrFuggleGuggle In what state do you work where nurses make more then PTA. I am currently a nurse and actually considering PTA. Where I live a new grad nurse starts out at 19-21 an hour at a SNF. Where as my friends that work in the therapy department of the SNF as a new grad started out at 32$.
What about the con of dealing with aggressive, mean, violent patients, and their families? Nurses and CNAs get this so I am sure PTAs get it too. Anytime you work so closely with people, watch out. My cousin is a physical therapist and she was talking about how one jerky man came up behind her and punched her in the back, and she talked about rude patients.
If I’m making 50k starting out, a n my earlier 20s I can continue to got to school in kinesiology, and become a masters in it and there is a lot to do with a masters or even a doctorate in kinesiology and I can continue to presu that while I’m working as a pta
if you're in Canada (ottawa) , def. not worth the pay. I started at 13$/hour with a caseload of 90 person (with a goal of 2-3 visits a week for each person....) . Changed jobs since then. Minimum wage in Ontario is now 14$/hour , after 6 years, I now make about 17$/hour..... Its discouraging, frankly :/
i’m currently an Art major in college but i don’t think i’m confident enough to believe it can help me financially and for my future since its just a hobby more than a passion., but instead i want to get into PTA bc i have friends who are PTA’s and it sounds interesting so i hope i can become a PTA and do my hobbies on the side :)
Thank you for the video! I’m definitely considering becoming a PTA. (Though if I could make money off art and music I would love to haha but that might not be the most stable job) 🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰
What are you thoughts on pushing for the advancement of the PTA from an Associate degree to a Bachelor and then finally being able to transition to DPT? This would almost replicate the way you can transition in Nursing from LPN-->ADN-->BSN-->MSN. I am a PTA who went back to school for my Bachelor of Science in PTA. Like you said the advancements pretty much stop after that unless you go back for another 3 years of DPT schooling. At that point it makes no sense for the amount of student debt and time it takes to get there.
great question!! maybe we can go more in depth over this topic in a video. I think that this profession is heading in that direction similar to nursing as well. Great input on the subject.
Jessica Chawla awesome!! Personally, I enjoy physical therapy more, it’s more active, it’s less gross, and I actually enjoy working in an outpatient clinic more than in a hospital. However, you do get paid more as a nurse than a PTA if you are more interested in the money.
great video ! very informative for someone thinking of going into the program as i am . just wondering how old you were when you took the program first ? im currently 24 years old and debating on taking it as well .
Do you have a video on just what a PTA does within a normal day? I’m thinking about switching my major and I want to get as much information on being a PTA
Patricia Schiavon absolutely!!! Actually mehgan and I just opened our own clinic, I’m posting a video so you can see it in two weeks! If you work hard and are determined it’s possible!
Antonio Sanson Thanks again. One more question, if you don’t mind. How many semesters I have to attend in College (general studies and specific subjects) before I can apply to the program..how many years in total would be? Thank you so much 🙏
Patricia Schiavon gen Ed’s included it takes about 2 years to complete, Usually the college will get you started with the specific gen Ed’s you need to take and once you have completed certain ones then you can apply to the program, The total length of everything is 2-3 years
Antonio Sanson hi , I'm planning to get a degree of PT ,I'm 25years old then starting my school next year geeting this degree , but sometimes I feel discourage bcoz of my age i feel im old then when I.finished it in 4years my age is 29 do u think ? I can easily get a job abroad, after my degree and licence ? But Im thinking I am so old the reason why they its hard to get a job abroad but my current job is a clinic attendant my employer is a korean doctor , shes doing acupuncture ,I'm doing massage and taking care of the patient do u think this is an additional skills or a good experience ? I also very interested helping our patient , so I decided to improve my skills .by getting the degree . I hopefully looking and waiting for ur good advice. Thank u :)
Right I'm a CNA and thinking about going to school for PTA! I feel like we kinda do the same thing anyways, just different pay and hour.. can you make a video on home health pta and cna/ home health different ? And maybe add in there traveling PTAs vs. Travelling CNAs
Sakkara Shaw thanks for video ideas! I’ll see about it, I don’t know much info right now on those subjects in relation to CNAs but if I learn more in the future I’ll try to make a video on it.
Since I am a PTA and a Cota people ask me which one would I be more likely to go into. I tried to tell him that if they are in the field of personal training they more apt to do well in a PTA program. But if they've been a CNA and they enjoyed this aspect of their job then they would probably be better being a Cota.
Hi!! Antonio! I like your videos and I'm happy for you that you are working on your career or are in the workforce now!! Congrats! I told you on another video that I was interested in pta but actually my true calling is occupational therapy or ota . I graduated high school in 2011. And haven't been to college since. I live in the melvindale, mi area. And I just feel overwhelmed sometimes because I really want to study ota at baker but I find it a little difficult since I haven't been to school. I find it requires more to get into that college rather than hfcc. I'm scared about homework assignments deadlines all that stuff just starting new ota is my passion I really want to pursue itt anf I like the salary . could you give me tips on what to expect and what I can do to go through tjis smoothly and not feel stressed out!!?? Thanks
That is awesome! I'm glad you decided that OTA is right for you! thanks for letting me know too. Yah, I can see what you are saying about feeling a little nervous about this whole process especially if you haven't been to school in a while. I would suggest preparing before you start school and look over things in anatomy & physiology and other health classes. Also I would even recommend talking to the director of the OTA program and asking them what are some things you can do before you start and even feel comfortable going to your teachers or professors with questions you have or if you are struggling through the program.
Antonio Sanson how was that? Was that pretty stressful? Because I know for PT school if people tried to work I was usually told by therapists that they failed out of school. I just wanted to know if I could possibly work part time while attending class to pay off the debts I’m going to accumulate lol
reredrummer123 I know what you mean lol it can be expensive. It can be stressful at times but if you are focused and good with your time you can make it work. If it becomes too overwhelming then just drop your job and only do the program. I don’t know how much you can handle but let me know how it goes!
Work as little as you need to. I just graduated as a PTA and working part time all thru school caused burn out and anxiety. It can be done, but it makes studying as much as you need to quite difficult.
Pat Macabuhay most of the time you have to specifically graduate from an accredited PTA program and then pass your licensure test and then she can become a PTA
I have an associate's degree in graphic design and the place I work is nothing like what I wanted to do. We dont get to design or create. At my current job all we get to do is setup and make the layout of what another designer created. I'm thinking of getting back to school and want a job that pays more and I wont be stuck at a desk for 20+ years doing something I already dont like. How does the starting salary and outlook for a PTA?
alexphantom17 honestly I can’t remember the exact amount of everything. I think it was around 25-30k for everything. Probably closer to 30k So its more than just the average tuition of a PTA program
What are the best online programs for PTA School? How do I make sure they are legitimate? I'm a working mom, I am a home health massage and rehabilitation therapist currently and am looking to become a physical therapist but with my schedule I think PTA Would be a better fit for me while my boys are still young and as they get older I will go into the PT program. Also I live way out in the country so driving to college would be difficult with my schedule.
Aundria Galanti honestly I don’t know a lot about online programs, if I find out more information on them then I will definitely let you know! I’m glad you are interested in this field though! Sorry I couldn’t be of more help
Remington College would be one of those college that has an online program but you still have to go to the college to practice your hands on labs I know they have it for cota's and they may have it developed for ptas as well but that's the only one I know about.
Kate yeah most universities will only offer BA’s like “Pre Professional PT” or “kinesiology” in which they cater to PT. Certification. But Bachelors and even Master programs in PT were discontinued in the late 90s into the 2000s.
Hello Antonio, My name is Alejandro and I have 20 years. I recently faced the most heartbreaking situation in my life, I got a really bad grade in A&P 1Lab. Which is a super important class for this program and I need an advice in how to study in general, did you used flash card or watched a TH-cam video or read the book? How did you got a good grade in this class?
How difficult is this career in school? Also money-wise, would you say that this career is good enough to support yourself or a significant other if you're living on your own? My last question is, once you become a PTA, is there a chance you could go for PT itself but it wouldnt take AS long as it normally would since youre already a PTA?
The schooling is kinda tough. You have to really work hard and study if you want to pass the program. I think the money you earn is enough to support you and another person as long as you work in a good setting. You can definitely go on to be a PT once you become a PTA, and yes it wont be quite as long. Ill be making a video shortly on that subject with Mehgan because she started out as a PTA and now she is a PT.
I want to know which is more comfortable and least worrying being in physical therapy assistant program or respiratory therapist program I’m scared I don’t know what should I choose
I’m an active duty Marine and was thinking of going to school for this? Do you know anything about online courses? Also, if there isn’t any online courses that would certify me, could I do any classes that would make the program easier or shorter?
I’m not too familiar with online programs. Just know that the college has to be CAPTE accredited program. Also you will have to do a portion of the program in person for any online program. You can’t do all of it online.
I'm 23 years old and i was going to go into PT but the fact that the program itself takes roughly 7 years to complete is almost a turn off. It's very tempting to go into PTA program but idk i am trying to get a job as a PT aid to see how the atmosphere is like and make up my mind from there.
ChimeStone that’s a good idea to see if you like the career. And if you do end up liking it then it will be easier to become a PTA or PT because you will have more experience and understanding.
im in dallas texas, as the market is always growing here, but these videos are amazing and we are all grateful for your work, im currently looking into a community college in this path, for me money isnt everything as much as i wanna help others, but what do you consider an Average Pay rate? being 2018
that varies a lot as well, Texas actually pays pretty decent. If you are a new grad you probably won't get paid as much, but I would assume average median pay would be around 50k a year.
In Florida we are pretty overwhelmed with ptas and cota's. There are jobs out there but you're not going to be one of the few applying you maybe one of the hundreds of applying.
Hi Antonio, I’m enjoying so much watching your videos, it’s been very helpful to me. I graduated 2012 PT In Brasil, I’m applying to be a PTA in NY, my credits are enough to be a PTA, I don’t need to go to college. However, I need to study for PTA NPTE, what course prep do you suggest for the exam ? It’s going to be very challenging for me, I need to refresh everything I learned 9 years ago and study everything in English. I’m so nervous 😩 any tips you can give me I would appreciate so much. Tx
Autistic Jew for sure! Mehgan and I are gonna shoot a video on it coming up soon. Mehgan was a pta before she became a PT so she can give a lot of tips on it!
You could also argue that the job market for this field is expected to do ridiculously well in the next 20+ years.
So is it feasible to complete with a full time job? I work 44 hours a week already.
But could do go to school let’s say 20 hours a week or is it mandatory you do full time?
No. I had 2 quit my job and it was still very overwhelming
I’m actually going back to school to be a PTA this August so I appreciate you making a video of this it helps out a lot💯
I am starting a PTA program in the fall I am super excited to embark on this journey!
It's a yay. I don't want to be at a desk all day, and I get to help people👍
2 more class then I’m in the program I was going for RN BUT I THINK PTA is better for me can’t wait 😊 this video is awesome and very helpful
Latrinadent54@yahoo.com Duffles glad it was helpful!
I’m going to start freshman in college in like a few months... will you um tell me some of the classes needed to start into becoming a PTA
exactly, im going to college right now for RN but i think PTA is for me! excited
In rn school and thinking PTA for me
Thanks so much, I’m working at an outpatient rehab center now and have started to consider becoming a PTA. This video was helpful.
I'm going from pottery instructor to PTA. Looking forward to doing both after the pandemic and once I get my degree and a place to host classes!
I'm currently halfway through my 18-month PTA program! So it's even more accelerated than your program was from the sounds of it lol
But regardless of the intensity, I love this field! No regrets at all!!
EthanPeter116 that’s great!
I’m glad you are passionate about this field!
Do you start clinicals soon?
Just last week I finished my first 6-week clinical! It was awesome! Now I have a small break until August when I return to class, and then have my second internship which is 8-weeks long, and directly following that internship, I graduate!
The clinic I did my first 6-week internship at liked me so much, they hired me as a PT Tech over this summer break I have until I go back to school! So i'm able to keep practicing, learning, and keeping my skills sharp.
EthanPeter116 awesome!
That’s good that you left a good impression on them!
What kind of facility is it?
@@ethanpeter116 how is it going for you now? Did you find a good job that you like?
Thank u so much for what u do. I am in about to get done with my pre-requisites, and start with the PTA program, and I'm very excited for that.
I’m a senior in high school and I’ve been feeling incredibly lost in deciding what I want to be and where I want to attend. I dread staying in an office all day. I wish to be more active and on my feet. I do value helping others and believe I’m an open person to talk to. I’m leaning towards this career
Awesome! let me know if you continue to go down this path.
Update?
Just found your channel and subscribed 👏🏽 I’m in my second semester and boy is it hard 😅 but can’t wait to graduate and start working as a PTA. You’re right, it’s a very rewarding job. Thanks for your videos, keep them coming. Very informative 👍🏽
How is the pay? I want to buy a house D: and maybe even work part time lol
I love watching your videos!! I get a lot of information from them! I had some trouble deciding what major I wanted but over time I've decided I want to become a pta!I have a lot of family in the medical field that can help me so I'm taking pre-reqs thanks for the info!!
Sarah DiMaio that’s great! Let me know if you get accepted into a program!
Good video bro ! I am looking forward to this program I’ve been doing flooring for 9 years already had my own buisness ... but now I want to try something different. I like helping people out! I’m 24 years old .
Steevnb * that’s great!
I enjoy this career so hopefully you will as well.
I’m looking at the cons cause I’m probably about to flunk out in my second semester. Pathology is killing me. I’m trying not be in total despair. I’ll have to go back cause there’s no future in my current job as a massage therapist.
Going to take a few small fry prerequisites this fall to become a PTA, good luck to others!
I love being on my feet so..YAY!!
I’ve discovered that some PTAs receive close to 100k depending on your boss and if it’s a sole proprietorship. Although, I only know a couple because of where they are located that brings in loads of wealthy clients
Liked and subbed! I've wanted to do pt since high school because of the pros you mentioned and its the only field I see myself doing outside of IT
Thats awesome! have you started taking classes yet?
@@AntonioSanson yep just two more years til I can start on my masters program
currently waiting to get into the program. i'm really excited about it.
Faeidra Kiffing awesome!!
Let me know if you get in!
I will thanks.
Faeidra Kiffing did you get in?
Antonio this is a great information, thank you so much! By the way you are very nice and enthusiastic person. Gob bless you.
You did a good job explaining that Thank you
Nice intro man. Also great info!!
OMG Thank you so much for your wonderful videos! I just subscribed to your channel! I am a PTA grad from Connecticut going to my boards exam in 2 weeks and turning 40 in a few months😊Absolutely love this profession! Not sure if was this video or the other that you mentioned “40 years...” LOL I might not be actively working🤔
I love your channel thank you again!
@@Anabela2023 what program did you go through? I'm from CT
@@itoro22 hey I'm curious as to what you decided to do, I am in the same bracket as you and I just need a little advice
I'm excited. I majored in Massage Therapy. The are a lot of PTA programs that have extra points for people who majored in massage or have their license. I want to be a PTA and be a LMT on the side. I heard something about a payment cut from Medicare? Or something like that though in the upcoming years
Yah I have a video that touches on that subject called PTA job outlook if you want to check it out!
About to finish my prerequisites to begin PTA school at Itawamba ICC in Fulton, Mississippi
The cost part depends where you go. It'll cost me 6,800 dollars from start to finish.
Bee that’s awesome
You will do great!
Thank you my brother May the grace of God continue to bless you and field and you are very very inspiration God bless
Thanks Kevin!
I’m scared to choose a field career, but I now have opportunity to do so, I broke my ankle and went through physical therapy and I absolutely loved the atmosphere that I now want to become a PTA.. I’m 35 now and it’s a 2 year degree I first wanted to pursue registered nursing
Ditto to all that. I start Jan 24’. Already studying.
I’m right in the middle of my program!
UnderCover Brotha how is it?
It's a YAY!!!😊 , thank you!!
Pretty descriptive video 👍👍👍
I’m still deciding whether to be a PTA or OTA because both are great careers. It’s a very hard decision to make considering some of the differences between the two as well as the very similar aspects of both
We’re in the same boat , both sound pretty stressful
I'm 23 and have been contemplating on being a PTA for about a year, and I had no idea about the cost/investment? Please tell me more about that?
You could invest your money to get more income like real estate, stock market or cryptocurrencies.
I like this thinking, those are my thoughts as well. Although I am happy with what the average salary is for PTA for the amount of work, I also would like some more money (aka investments).
dont invest in stocks ..its a big bubble gettin ready to burst like 2008. keep your money in a stable fund for now until after they go down 50%
@@Mrfreedomfiter Liked for being kinda right good call
Is the PTA program really hard? Nursing school was ridiculously hard.
Katie Marcontell it’s pretty tough, you just are constantly studying and preparing for upcoming tests and comps.
Once you get in the rhythm of it though it’s not as bad.
Lol this is problem right now! Currently suffering in nursing looking for another way to help people and get paid 😋
Great video!
If I’m making 50k starting out, a n my earlier 20s I can continue to got to school in kinesiology, and become a masters in it and there is a lot to do with a masters or even a doctorate in kinesiology and I can continue to presu that while I’m working as a pta
Hi, great video!
What program did you go to??
if you're in Canada (ottawa) , def. not worth the pay.
Wow I'm in the same way I love arts too 💓
Thank you for the video! I’m definitely considering becoming a PTA. (Though if I could make money off art and music I would love to haha but that might not be the most stable job) 🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰
I dig it.. I already train youth athletes.. But I still work in a call center and I dred it..
67k is a fantastic salary for a 2 year degree
im on my way
I was looking into a 9 month program to become a PTA. Would I be making less then a PTA with an associate's?
I have been trying to figure out what I want to be when I graduate , and Im really thinking about becoming a PTA but am also having doubts
spicy fried dog are you in school for pta now? How are you doing?
Yea for me!!!!
@@AntonioSanson good comment
Hi Antonio, love the channel! How long have you been a pta for? And do you intend on transitioning to becoming a pt at any point?
Your new Subie😁
Binge watching your videos.actually m confused between opting for nursing or pt .which one in your sense is better?
Jessica Chawla awesome!!
Personally, I enjoy physical therapy more, it’s more active, it’s less gross, and I actually enjoy working in an outpatient clinic more than in a hospital.
However, you do get paid more as a nurse than a PTA if you are more interested in the money.
Thanks
great video ! very informative for someone thinking of going into the program as i am . just wondering how old you were when you took the program first ? im currently 24 years old and debating on taking it as well .
I started the program at 19 and graduated at 21. You shouldn't let age stop you from doing it if you are interested in the field though!
Do you have a video on just what a PTA does within a normal day? I’m thinking about switching my major and I want to get as much information on being a PTA
kind of, Role of a PTA kind of covers that topic if you haven't seen it yet.
Thank you Antonio. Do you know if it’s possible to have your own business/clinic as a pta?
Patricia Schiavon absolutely!!!
Actually mehgan and I just opened our own clinic, I’m posting a video so you can see it in two weeks!
If you work hard and are determined it’s possible!
Antonio Sanson Thanks again. One more question, if you don’t mind. How many semesters I have to attend in College (general studies and specific subjects) before I can apply to the program..how many years in total would be? Thank you so much 🙏
Patricia Schiavon gen Ed’s included it takes about 2 years to complete,
Usually the college will get you started with the specific gen Ed’s you need to take and once you have completed certain ones then you can apply to the program,
The total length of everything is 2-3 years
Antonio Sanson thank you!
Thank u :)
Before watching Yay......
Tommy Leaks Jr lol thanks for the support!
Me too! I’m taking my state examination for cna this month and is thinking about pta instead of being a nurse lol
Since I am a PTA and a Cota people ask me which one would I be more likely to go into. I tried to tell him that if they are in the field of personal training they more apt to do well in a PTA program. But if they've been a CNA and they enjoyed this aspect of their job then they would probably be better being a Cota.
Yay!
Hi!!
Can you work while going to PTA school or is that not recommended?
reredrummer123 it’s usually not recommended but you definitely can, I worked part time while I was in the program...
It can be done, but it makes studying as much as you need to quite difficult.
my friend graduated BS Physical Education, she is asking if she can be a PTA too?
Pat Macabuhay most of the time you have to specifically graduate from an accredited PTA program and then pass your licensure test and then she can become a PTA
How would I find a program for this?
Cameron Sites use the same internet to search for programs that TH-cam is on
the PTA program is mostly in community colleges. look at the ones near you
I have an associate's degree in graphic design and the place I work is nothing like what I wanted to do. We dont get to design or create. At my current job all we get to do is setup and make the layout of what another designer created. I'm thinking of getting back to school and want a job that pays more and I wont be stuck at a desk for 20+ years doing something I already dont like. How does the starting salary and outlook for a PTA?
Hello i like your videos. I would like to know if it’s easier to get a job as a PTA for women or men
What was the total cost of your entire PTA program? Tuition, books, equipment, etc? And was that cost above or below the average program? Thanks!
alexphantom17 honestly I can’t remember the exact amount of everything. I think it was around 25-30k for everything.
Probably closer to 30k
So its more than just the average tuition of a PTA program
Hi i was wondering if I can interview you one day for my PTHA class
It’s for a project
Can you be a PTA and train on the side as well??
I don't really know what you mean by "train" but I think that would be fine to do on the side.
Antonio Sanson training meaning speed, agility, strength and conditioning
biggtoak84 yah that should be good, I have a friend who does Physical therapy as her job and she also does personal training on the side
There is no apprenticeship with being a PTA you have to go to school you have to pass the boards.
Bachelors will help with becoming an instructor in a school
How difficult is the jurisprudence part I've done everything else
Love this video.
What if you take up Bachelors in PT, and not DPT. Is it ok?
You have to have a doctorates degree to be a PT. The only way you could have a bachelors or masters or something is if you got grandfathered in.
Kate yeah most universities will only offer BA’s like “Pre Professional PT” or “kinesiology” in which they cater to PT. Certification. But Bachelors and even Master programs in PT were discontinued in the late 90s into the 2000s.
So would you suggest pursuing the associates degree over bachelors?
Hello Antonio, My name is Alejandro and I have 20 years. I recently faced the most heartbreaking situation in my life, I got a really bad grade in A&P 1Lab. Which is a super important class for this program and I need an advice in how to study in general, did you used flash card or watched a TH-cam video or read the book? How did you got a good grade in this class?
I did great in anatomy I and II with the help of Professor Fink on youtube. and Khan acadamy. Couldn't have done it without them. Hope it helps.
What’s the first step into becoming a pta
I start next month! Are the classes really hard?
Yah they are pretty difficult lol. But just take one day at a time and you’ll get through them!
After Yay!
Antonio Sanson hi Antonio do you know how can I be PT from PTA in Canada are there any bridge programs
Hey antonio
Your videos are just awsome
N really appreciable.
I am PT from INDIA.
And i want to do my masters from US..
Suggest me something
:)
Jyot Caur thanks!
What do you need help with?
I want to know which is more comfortable and least worrying being in physical therapy assistant program or respiratory therapist program I’m scared I don’t know what should I choose
I’m an active duty Marine and was thinking of going to school for this? Do you know anything about online courses? Also, if there isn’t any online courses that would certify me, could I do any classes that would make the program easier or shorter?
I’m not too familiar with online programs.
Just know that the college has to be CAPTE accredited program.
Also you will have to do a portion of the program in person for any online program.
You can’t do all of it online.
How does this compare to getting masters and english ? And teaching english compared to this job
Antonio Sanson is that what you did once you went into pta school?
ChimeStone I never went to be a PT aide but I just went straight to be a PTA.
is this field over saturated?
Depends where you work. I don't personally feel like its oversaturated. especially in cities and hospitals.
im in dallas texas, as the market is always growing here, but these videos are amazing and we are all grateful for your work, im currently looking into a community college in this path, for me money isnt everything as much as i wanna help others, but what do you consider an Average Pay rate? being 2018
that varies a lot as well, Texas actually pays pretty decent. If you are a new grad you probably won't get paid as much, but I would assume average median pay would be around 50k a year.
What about Chicago?
Tx
Could someone explain the path to transition from pta to pt?
Autistic Jew for sure! Mehgan and I are gonna shoot a video on it coming up soon.
Mehgan was a pta before she became a PT so she can give a lot of tips on it!
There are bridge programs that are offered for PTAs to become PTs.
