The best video so far from cole. *The value I got* - Educate first, because the client doesn't know you. - Slide into their DM's (Genius Move) - Educate more in *"Free Consulting Call"* like they're paying you $ 1000 for it. - Pitch your offer Deal Done!!!
My biggest takeaway is that free work ≠ nothing earned. Testimonials, credibility and referrals can all come from doing work for free. Great video as always! Thanks 7:00
The same principle applies on everything in life: *Do what nobody is willing to do* - Do a little work sample and show that you are competent in your skill - If you are good, they won’t let you go, finding a good writer nowadays is hard - If you are bad, you shouldn’t charge in the first place, this way you are practicing and improving your craft for the next time This is it!!!
Value-packed as usual. Thanks Cole. My biggest take away is to start by reaching out to people already in my network, people I already know. I actually tried this a few weeks ago and got my first free client. I'd love to join PGA to fast-track my ghostwriting business and start earning the big bucks so I can create the life of my dreams for my family and I.
I am currently manifesting this course into my life. I have always enjoyed writing, but I never thought of making it a career until I found you. The free resources you provide have already helped me gain knowledge and the courage to pursue my new dream, which is to become a writer. In fact, thanks to your guidance, I recently secured a client from my community, even though I'm still working for free. I am happy. I believe that PGA would definitely change my life. Looking forward to being part of your community.
I'm about to create my first product and this video is pure gold. To me, earning a living from ghostwriting would mean being free from my 9-5 work. In addition, I would be able to spend more time with my loved ones
Another great video, Cole! Thank you so much for all of this. I'm actually reading The Art and Business of Ghostwriting from cover to cover for the second time. I feel like I'm putting a digital bookmark on every page. I'm turning my entire offering inside out right now, away from being a "vendor's tray copywriter" to Ghostwriter for Email & LinkedIn. Man, that feels SO RIGHT! I've already been able to convince 2 clients of the power of EECs. My next steps as a premium ghostwriter: Knock them out of the park with the results... The logical next step would be to join the PGA... if only things weren't so tight with a one-year-old child and all... Keep up the great work!
I'm doing some free work now for someone I met in a cohort. I'm really enjoying what I do but it's a slow roll. Not sure how much longer I can hang in there. I need something to take hold. Every time I watch one of your videos I get another jolt of enthusiasm to give it a bit longer. Trust me, if I had the means to join PGA I would have been there in a heartbeat. I'll keep watching and learning and hopefully get some traction. Keep 'em coming. Thanks.
I thought free work is bs until I tried to find high-ticket clients with 0 social proof. I don't have the resources to join PGA even though I badly want to. But I won't let it come in between me & my success. I'm already implementing everything from: - "The Art & Business of Ghostwriting" - Premium ghostwriting blueprint - Cole's TH-cam videos/podcasts - Cole's social media content & newsletters I have already launched my own EEC (would be improving it further). Currently building an EEC for FREE for a client. I'm confident PGA would fast track my journey! Keep crushing it!
My name's Leon. I applied to join the ghost writing academy today. An hour later I got an email starting "Hi Susan". It's not even like the names are similar.
Another great and clear message for obtaining new clients. It's important to understand your client's problem(s). He may not even be aware of the problem(s). Then come up with your unique solution(s) to the problem(s). Send a Loom video to educate (whether he knows about it or not) the client about the problem(s) and invite them to a call to discuss (educate) the solution(s). So simple.
My takeaway is the link between local network >> niche >> outreach >> free consult. That's an interesting way to start up without any form of existing niche built up.
This is awesome, thanks for sharing! Biggest takeaway for me was that the niche is the network. I was literally jotting down ideas for people in my network I can reach out to, while the video wasn't even finished!
This is how it's done...Very educational and clear. Think about your own behavior. Would you respond to someone you don't know when all they is say "Hi, I looked at your profile and you look really smart." Give me a good reason to give you some of my valuable time. Identifying a problem I didn't know was there and then having a solution. Now I am more likely to say "tell me more..." And don't get all "wrinkled" about doing free work. If they like it, they won't let you go. If they don't like it, you shouldn't charge in the first place. Practice and learn for next time. Thanks Cole!
Whoa! The most powerful tool here is that you're commanding attention by actually fixing something in their business. Demonstrating expertise in that way is powerful. That's a great takeaway! Thanks for sharing some gold from PGA here with us! 🙌
This is awesome, thanks for sharing! Biggest takeaway for me was that the niche is the network. I was literally jotting down ideas to reach out to people in my network, even before the video finished!
"Do your homework" feels like a lot of work but it's super valuable because it helps you show up with confidence (i.e. you know what you're talking about). Perhaps as a beginner (wannabe) ghostwriter, the challenging part is learning "how to assess things properly". My actions, questions and how I approach a client reveal exactly what I know. In other words---if I don't know, my potential client is going to see through it lol.
Hi Nicolas- here from Ghostwriters anonymous. Currently, I'm hoping to get started on steady ghostwriting work after helping a couple of dead-end clients. As a student and teenager, your advice on getting testimonials for early work is crucial. I always love when you speak specifically to beginners. I think I'll feel like a beginner for a long time, but each time you answer one of my burning questions I grow more confident :) My biggest takeaway is that early free work is endlessly repaid in referrals and experience- If you structure it right. I'm vying for that coveted PGA spot with student finances and ghostwriter dreams. wish me luck!
You're dropping knowledge bombs here, Cole! My biggest takeaway from the video... FREE work will get your foot in the door faster than anything else. It's the "shortcut in disguise" to achieve your business goals. Thanks, Cole 👻
Great Video, Cole! My current goals as a Premium Ghostwriter: 1. Find my first high-ticket client. 2. Earn $15,000 per month so that I can help my brother and parents. Here are my biggest takeaways from the video: 1. Do a market research about your ideal client. 2. Focus on educating your potential client about a problem rather than selling them a new product. 3. Work for free at first to build confidence and gather testimonials. Here are the 3 reasons why I want to join PGA: 1. I want to meet new people who are Ghostwriters and Digital Writers. 2. I want to learn a new high-income skill. 3. I want to learn from one of the best ghostwriters in the world right now. Thank your for sharing your DM Strategy, Cole!
Hi everyone and thank you Nicolas Cole for this amazing lessons. My Name is Santiago Acero, I´m 20 y.o and I´m from Colombia, well, back in 2015-16 when I was starting my Secondary, everytime in Literature classes when all my teachers started to teach us to write articles, tales, even theater scripts and poems, my classmates and my teachers told me that I have some "talent" to write. One day I had one of the best tales of my whole school when I was 15, and my school published that tale on a book with the other greatest tales from 1st to 10th graders. So with this said, my main goal as a Ghostwriter is to engage, seduce, but overall educate and persuade with my texts, in form of paid newsletters, emal courses,etc.... Now, I´ll never forget this quote from this video: "People don't like being sold, they want to be educated", and in PGA I want to learn how to boost all my writing skills and, more than write articles, I want to learn How to be in the reader's subconscious mind. Thanks
My current goals = launch my offer, get a few free reps in, & then get enough paid clients to bankroll my enrolment in PGA. I want to join to get the support, accountability, frameworks & community to grow to $20k / month. It’s clear you’ve built a killer program, and I want in. My biggest takeaway here is the value of “free consulting”. In a sea of desperate & generic DMs, a value-first loom can cut through the noise (and I love how this video shows you’re “eating your own dog food”). “Free consulting” is just efficient marketing. Less outreach = more sales.
Insightful video, Cole! My takeaway - Cold DMs without proper research and personalisation do not convert into leads. A well researched outreach which aims at educating the potential client for free will ultimately pay you.
This is so good! I get so many horrible DMs that are so focused on selling instead of serving. They don’t even attempt to find out if their service or product will solve a problem I have. I wish I had gotten in on the inaugural cohort of PGA. Would love to learn these skills to build my business.
Great video Cole! Thank you. So, my current goal as a Premium Ghostwriter is to create the means to support my wife (while she's working on her PhD) and shape a new path for myself. My biggest takeaway would have to be the validation of free work. I've been a personal trainer since 2000, and it's always been an industry standard to offer a free consultation to any potential new clients. Hearing you recommend free work to increase the probability of making a sale (and gaining experience in the process) is a great take-home lesson. It shows value, confidence, and expertise.
I always thought people would react the way I do if I sent them cold DMs. What do I do? I ignore them. But if somebody sends me a DM with a loom video of issues with my newsletter or my business, they definitely have my attention. Thank you for this, Cole! I experience a transformation every single time I watch one of your videos. :)
My initial goal as a premium ghostwriter is to learn while I earn My biggest takeaway is that free work compounds faster than paid work. A free consult, a free initial project, a free analysis of someone’s business; it all adds so much value upfront for their business. And even if they say no, getting in those reps makes you a better writer.
Thanks Cole - extremely helpful. I just finished your book "The Art & Business of Ghostwriting." The pages are more yellow than white now, LOL, with all the flourescent highlighting! "Snow Leopard" is next - excited to get that one going. My biggest take away is the reminder around educating versus selling. I've been looking at all my DMs on Linkedin and the proposals I've sent out, and see a massive gap here. There's always *some education, but not enough. AND tied to that - I know I need clarify my positioning and be more specific on my social channels and my website (*rolls up sleeves to get to work).
Yes - free consulting and genuinely *helping. My issue as a video producer and content creator is crystallizing the problem. A part of me feels like ‘I’m sure your business is just fine’. Aka, I don’t know how putting a video at the front of their site converts. How it improves their sales. I have never connected those dots for myself, so I can’t educate the client on the problem. I guess the bottleneck is *my education.
My biggest giveaway is always give more than ask, this works regardless you're sending cold DM, or writing content. When you start working even before money start changing hands, it's only a matter of time before you become the go-to guy in your niche.
Other than being a great outreach strategy, the loom free work pitch is also a great way to practise free consulting calls for those of us who haven't experienced one yet. This free work pitch combined with the Pitch in Public strategy will have one standing out and this is why I can't wait to join PGA. I'm sure there are plenty of valuable insights waiting there.
Awesome video. My biggest takeaway is that free work will eventually pay you back. The ROI on free work is limitless in terms of continued business and referrals you can get.
My Takeways: 1. Teach people about the problem they have, instead of just trying to sell them something new. 2. Start off by offering your services for free to gain trust and collect feedback from happy clients. My main aim as a Premium ghostwriter is to become part of a premium group of tech leaders. I want to learn about different tech industries by educating and creating awesome content for them.
Biggest takeaway- 3:00 Educate your client, NOT pitch!🤯 This is in contrast to Daniel Priestly’s “Key Person of Influence Method”, in which the first step is to pitch! In fact, Dan’s opinion is that we should constantly pitch because “you get what you pitch for.” However, the setting for both of them are different. Definitely something worth pondering upon.
Why I Want To Join PGA - I want to make my life better. I started out with nothing. Learned everything from scratch became a freelance content writer and worked with some amazing people across the world. Now I am stuck at a certain level, I want to break this ceiling and build something larger. I am meant for greater things in life. And, I will achieve those whether I join PGA or not. But I want to join because time is a valuable resource and I think PGA can help me save a lot of it.
Make a list of everyone you know that you can help them Less is more in outreach Do your homework (LI, website, newsletter) - Look for in problems: * Don't have an opt-in * Have an opt-in, no welcome sequence * Website, no newsletter * Audience & newsletter, no nurture sequence Free consulting via loom : you're not selling, you're educating (educate them on something that they're doing wrong and don't know it) The client can't care about the solution you're offering until they're care about the problem. Offer a 30 min FREE consulting call
My goal as a Premium Ghostwriter: 1. Start my Ghostwriting career landing high-ticket client, so that I can help my parents. Here are my biggest takeaways from the video: 1. Work for free at first to build confidence and get testimonials. 2. Look for problems Businesses have and help them solve it. 3. The way to get high-paying clients is not by pitching them is by educating them in something their doing wrong. Here are the 3 reasons why I want to join PGA: 1. I want to learn a High-earning skills. 2. Help my family. 3. I want to become one of the best ghostwriter, so want to learn from the best.
My biggest takeaway from the video is to do more free work, as much as I can because, especially in the beginning, it has higher return value than getting paid for it upfront.
"In outreach, less is actually more!!" That hit me hard. As someone who's sent thousands of cold DMs this has changed my outreach view completely. "Free work pays". That's another heavy one right their. Never thought of it in this way. This video has a ton of valuable lessons for any budding or experienced freelancer.
I'd love to join PGA! I'm currently a full-time copywriter, but I've just started cold outreach and I'm struggling big time. Anyway, the video was very helpful. Do you recommend sending the Loom right away, or should I wait for their reply to the first email/DM where I educate them on the problem?
COLD BEER IS OK BUT NOT COLD DMs.😅 My takeaways: Educate your potential clients: helps establish credibility and positions us as an authority in your field. Utilize direct messaging (DM): as it can significantly increase our chances of starting a meaningful conversation and fostering a connection. Offer a complimentary consulting call: allows to address their specific needs and concerns, further building trust and rapport. Pitch offer: emphasize how our service can help solve their problems or meet their needs.
Hey there, Can you make a video on how to charge clients on the outcome you create? Can you also please include your example working with silicon valley experts?(If comfortable) That would be really really helpful, as currently I don't understand how would clients pay you on outcome that you have created and how to pitch them what outcome they want or they want to have. I am really sorry if any of my questions feel stupid but I have just started recently and I have no idea whatsoever.
Hi Cole, I am Arvin Pecson from Ghostwriter Anonymous. This is a great and unique video. I've been doing "free work" in different niches. Seeing from your books, TH-cam videos, and LinkedIn how you value it makes me interested in the ghostwriting industry. And joining the PGA will be a great help for me and for the people I want to work with. I want to "ghostwrite productivity coaches" and convert their prospects into clients through these three words "Productivity Email Courses". That's why I want to be part of PGA. To learn the ins and outs and master productivity email course (PEC). Deliver value and sell the outcome. Thank you for the hope of a free PGA spot. It means a lot to me. Arvin -From the Philippines.
I am eager to join the Premium Ghostwriting Academy to refine my writing skills under the guidance of esteemed industry experts. As someone aiming to professionalize my passion for writing, PGA’s comprehensive curriculum and focus on real-world applications are perfectly aligned with my career goals. Additionally, the opportunity to connect and collaborate with a community of ambitious writers excites me, as I believe that shared knowledge is key to mutual improvement and success in the literary world.
I've started to comment on people's post who are struggling on Reddit. Productivity niche. At what point should I mention that I help people? Should I offer help in the comment then DM them a Loom video with advice & include that I help people? And should I offer the free consult call at the end of the loom?
So here's the deal: I'll solve one specific problem for one specific person in one specific way. Before that happens, I need to produce as much content as possible on social platforms like X , LinkedIn, Quora and medium. With that I'll attract the audience and eventually I'll become better at what i do and gradually increase my audience nmbrs. Then I'll be able to sell any products with utmost value to the customer because at the end it's not about us ( writers) it's about them ( reader or customer).
Best takeaway: Levarage Your Network → Specific Way on How to Help → Free Consulting via video (not asking for a CALL) → Free Consulting Call → Do Free Work (give something before ask for something)
If you want to know more about what ghostwriting is, check out this other video I made: th-cam.com/video/4jmtULwbFO8/w-d-xo.html
The best video so far from cole.
*The value I got*
- Educate first, because the client doesn't know you.
- Slide into their DM's (Genius Move)
- Educate more in *"Free Consulting Call"* like they're paying you $ 1000 for it.
- Pitch your offer
Deal Done!!!
My biggest takeaway is that free work ≠ nothing earned. Testimonials, credibility and referrals can all come from doing work for free. Great video as always! Thanks 7:00
The same principle applies on everything in life:
*Do what nobody is willing to do*
- Do a little work sample and show that you are competent in your skill
- If you are good, they won’t let you go, finding a good writer nowadays is hard
- If you are bad, you shouldn’t charge in the first place, this way you are practicing and improving your craft for the next time
This is it!!!

Make a list of everyone you know that you can help them
Less is more in outreach
Do your homework (LI, website, newsletter) - Look for in problems:
* Don't have an opt-in
* Have an opt-in, no welcome sequence
* Website, no newsletter
* Audience & newsletter, no nurture sequence
Free consulting via loom : you're not selling, you're educating (educate them on something that they're doing wrong and don't know it)
The client can't care about the solution you're offering until they're care about the problem.
Offer a 30 min FREE consulting call
Thanks for the video Cole!
Biggest takeaway: Cold DM work if you can show how you can help by educating them on the problem they have 👍
Thank you Nicolas for this super step you give to us. Now I am clear what to do.
Epic Golden Nuggets Cole! 👻
Here for the reminder about free consulting!
Awesome video as usual. I have notification on all the time.
I would love to join your program
My goal as a Premium Ghostwriter:
1. Start my Ghostwriting career landing high-ticket client, so that I can help my parents.
Here are my biggest takeaways from the video:
1. Work for free at first to build confidence and get testimonials.
2. Look for problems Businesses have and help them solve it.
3. The way to get high-paying clients is not by pitching them is by educating them in something their doing wrong.
Here are the 3 reasons why I want to join PGA:
1. I want to learn a High-earning skills.
2. Help my family.
3. I want to become one of the best ghostwriter, so want to learn from the best.
exactly what I need rn. Doing most of the things correct in my drafts plus I'm using Alex Hormozi's ACA framework
My biggest takeaway from the video is to do more free work, as much as I can because, especially in the beginning, it has higher return value than getting paid for it upfront.
My biggest takeaway is that free work is a shortcut in disguise. It can pay in confidence, credibility, and referrals.
Recap:
1. Yout niche os your Network
2. How can you help them
3. Free consulting via loom 30 min
4. Free consulting call
5. Do some free work
Exactly what I needed
"In outreach, less is actually more!!" That hit me hard. As someone who's sent thousands of cold DMs this has changed my outreach view completely.
"Free work pays". That's another heavy one right their. Never thought of it in this way.
This video has a ton of valuable lessons for any budding or experienced freelancer.
This is more helpful than you know! If you make a connected video, include samples! Either way, thank you!🙏🏾
Biggest takeaway: Your niche is your network
A new take on cold dms! Mindset shift -this way is not so cringe!
I'd love to join PGA! I'm currently a full-time copywriter, but I've just started cold outreach and I'm struggling big time. Anyway, the video was very helpful. Do you recommend sending the Loom right away, or should I wait for their reply to the first email/DM where I educate them on the problem?
COLD BEER IS OK BUT NOT COLD DMs.😅
My takeaways:
Educate your potential clients: helps establish credibility and positions us as an authority in your field.
Hey there,
Can you make a video on how to charge clients on the outcome you create?
Can you also please include your example working with silicon valley experts?(If comfortable)
That would be really really helpful, as currently I don't understand how would clients pay you on outcome that you have created and how to pitch them what outcome they want or they want to have.
I am really sorry if any of my questions feel stupid but I have just started recently and I have no idea whatsoever.
Perfect video.
Be very clear and specific about how you can help. Sounds so obvious and simple but this is everything... critical skill to master.

Hey, do you do sponsorship?
Cold calling an exercise in futility too
I've started to comment on people's post who are struggling on Reddit. Productivity niche. At what point should I mention that I help people? Should I offer help in the comment then DM them a Loom video with advice & include that I help people? And should I offer the free consult call at the end of the loom?
Cold dms do work tho xD Gary Vee's it goes down in the DM strategy def works. Anyway I'm still gonna listen to your vid.
My biggest takeaway of the video is doing free work will help you get more paid work in the future than doing paid work.
nice customer service email voice bro
Cold DMs are annoying AF. I never pay attention to them.
Sorry but what is a rented g wagon😮
I think i will do some web design for free
So here's the deal:
I'll solve one specific problem for one specific person in one specific way.
Best takeaway:
Levarage Your Network → Specific Way on How to Help → Free Consulting via video (not asking for a CALL) → Free Consulting Call → Do Free Work (give something before ask for something)
Doing more free work is such a good message. a Counterfactual that works. @shauncoffey
