    What is the HACK MUSIC THEORY show?
    Hi, we are Kate Harmony and Ray Harmony, AKA Revolution Harmony. Every Monday you’ll find us here, sharing our top-secret songwriting hacks with you, for free. So whether you’re a beginner or a professional, a songwriter or a producer, these hacks will have you writing great songs in no time.
    Why are we giving away our top-secret hacks, in this ultra-competitive music industry? Because a world with better music, is a better world.
    Who is RAY HARMONY?
    Ray is an award-winning music lecturer and the author of the critically-acclaimed book series, Hack Music Theory. After decades of teaching ‘popular’ and ‘classical’ music theory, Ray created a unique crossover method for songwriting, which we call Hack Music Theory. We use this method to write all our music. Ray’s songs have even featured Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Kool Keith, and many more.
    Who is KATE HARMONY?
    Kate is the only person on the planet who's been trained by Ray Harmony to teach his Hack Music Theory method. In 2014, she undertook her formal teacher training at the Revolution Harmony School of Music, and has since become a partner and lead teacher, training up the next generation of Hack Music Theory teachers. Kate has a Grade 8 (the highest grade) Distinction in Popular Music Theory from the London College of Music, and is also a songwriter, recording artist and producer.

    So proud to see Tony sharing his knowledge on the web - he's a personal mentor. This video is awesomely shared and explained. I can personally endorse his guidance. More than 10 years ago now he advised me with this approach and reiterated it in recent years. It works and is more relevant to me now then ever. Break down, build up, spice it up, feel the pulse of the song. Great channel Ray and Kate! Ian

    Tanks for the tutorial, this brought me to write riffs with guitarish overdriven patches on my korg ms 20 and setting dark, soft but destroyed kickdrums underneath. Makes so mach fun :)

    Found you guys this weekend, REALLY digging the content! Technically spot on, everyone communicates well, and your collective love of the art shines through! Special shout out to Tony Holroyd. As someone who ALWAYS struggles with getting the percussion right, I really enjoyed your take. I learned a lot. Thank you, very much appreciated. Looking forward to more, Namaste.

    I'm probably not the first to ask this, but why do you have different accents?))

    • @HackMusicTheory
      @HackMusicTheory  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hiya! Firstly, thanks for watching and connecting, we really appreciate it! As for the accents, it is pretty crazy, right. Ray and Tony grew up in South Africa, but Ray sounds more British because he spent 10 years living in London... and that has been diluted by the last 6 years living in Canada! Take care and have a great weekend! Kate :)
