I'm glad you upload lengthy videos because I love listening to you talk about fragrances. There's no-one else on TH-cam who has content like yours. To be frank, off the top of my head I can't think of another frag-com content creator I'd be excited to hear talking for half an hour at a time about fragrances. You cover so many things in your lists and reviews from personal history & connection, to critique, comparisons, how you experience them, how you use them, fails and successes, little anecdotes and more. It doesn't feel like an obnoxious, performative infomercial-- channels with creators similar in approach to you are getting rarer and rarer. I'm so pleased you had that glamorous long break in Europe. Much deserved. Thanks Cherie for returning to TH-cam.

It’s lovely to see you! I hope
You had a fabulous time 😊 On « Ma bête », the first time I heard you talk about it I was amazed at how different an experience we were having. Here, in Canada, it is a full blown « flowery » animalic. I can’t wear it when I know I will be around people because they get the funkiness more than the florals. Now I want to go to Spain and wear it ! Get well soon! ❤️‍🩹

Hi. Thanks for this video! I can totally relate to the topic that you brought up - how change in a country/climate impacts how a particular perfume opens and develops on a person. Last summer I relocated to a totally different climate in terms of the temperatures, humidity, even air pollution, and proximity to the sea. I brought 15 of my favorite perfumes. But to my surprise I wasn't able to wear almost any of them, at least with the same level of enjoyment. Even Coromandel, this almost perfect, very wearable perfume, became a no-go for me, for some time at least, because it started to come across as unbearably sweet and suffocating. On the bright side - I discovered new perfumes, new notes that suited me more and that made and still make me happy in this new environment. The only one (maybe two) perfume that didn't change to me was Opium :), both the classic and flanker Black Opium Extreme. And that's how I discovered my signature scent :), because if it works for me everywhere, then there is a special resonance between us :) This experience made me think that brands target different markets with different perfumes/some exclusive lines for a reason, and that regional preferences in terms of olfactory profiles are not just randomly existing thing, but have very scientific explanations behind them. This is also yet another fascinating thing about perfumes imo. Fragrances are like ppl , they have their own personality - complex, multi-layered and multi-dimensional, revealing their hidden sides when brought into new circumstances :)

I always enjoy your videos so much, it’s so soothing. I understand what you mean about how fragrance smells different depending where you are. I used to live in Brazil and now in Europe and some perfumes make waaaay more sense now. But still, I love buying perfumes while traveling. It’s nice to attach a fragrance to a trip memory.

Sounds like a lovely holiday/conference! The fragrance shop near me is starting to sell Matiere Premiere fragrances soon and so I'm in line for a Parisian Musc purchase. 😊 Le Lion doesn't work for me, either, unfortunately. Iris Doux sounds beautiful, I definitely need to try that. I'm so sorry you got sick on your trip and hope you feel better soon.

Oh Cherie I hope you'll feel better soon! ❤ Madrid weather can be tricky, quickly goes to very warm to very cold. Last year my decant of Shalimar cologne leaked in my luggage. Now everytime I smell it, it reminds me of my Summer holidays 😊
Iris doux (doo 😉) sounds like something I could like.
Indeed I've still not been able to try Eris parfums because we can't find them in France 😆 (but I heard they may be available in Belgium).
I noticed that some fragrances that work for me in the north of France can be cloying to me when I go to the south and vice versa. So it makes sense somehow ^^
Happy to see you back 😘

So interesting about the difference of Ma Bete :) i have the discovery set and to me, it is ultra animalic, so it is fascinating to hear that you don't perceive it as such in Australia. Did you get to smell it once more when you got home ? I am wondering if it was not something that you unlocked as a note in europe but will now stay

Hi! No that clip was me wearing it after I got back, it wears very mild when I’m here for some reason. That’s why I wonder if the warmth here amps up the florals? It will be interesting to test it again when the temperatures really drop

Great video! 😊Thank you for sharing your perfume list from your trip. I was unfamiliar with the Eris Parfums brand, but after researching, I found that it's an American brand based in NYC.
I'm going on my trip next week and will have to decide which perfumes and samples to bring. I also can't wait to check out some of the stores you recommended on Instagram yesterday. Thank you again for the detailed list! 💖

You are most welcome and have a wonderful time in Oz! Yes Eris is founded by Barbara Herman, the author of Scent & Subversion - she has a great appreciation of vintage perfumes and though I have so far only tried Ma Bete I have a feeling many more in the range will reflect that vintage style. It was quite animalic in Spain, to the point where I put it on and was worried it would be too much for the situation I was in, but amazingly I get so much more of the tuberose and leather in Brisbane. Perhaps I can track down a decant and that will be sufficient.

Hei! So nice to find a new video from you! Very interesting what you say about how environment influende how we percieve perfume. That explains some of the shopping failures I have had when I bought new to me perfumes on holiday. They smelled absolutely divine in the shop, and when i came home I almost could not recognise it. Maybe more safe to sample at home, and buy when on holiday if I want a specific scent memory from the trip. I am going to Italy in the autumn and of course hope to do some perfume shopping, and I thonk I need to take this in to consideration!

Wow, Italy! So envious. I used to go annually before Japan stole my heart and have had the most glorious holidays there, no matter where in the country I was. I wonder what fragrance decants you'll be packing? If I may, can I suggest five fantastic 'Italian Summer Vibes' fragrances you may like to seek out as samples to take with you? 1. Suiren by Parfum Satori; Pontevecchio W by Nobile 1942; Columbine by Ciro; Adameku by Di Ser and Memoire de Daisen-In by Ella K. I wonder which fragrances you were referring to when you mentioned how different they seemed when sprayed in the store compared to at home? Anyhow, hope you have a magical Italian sojourn! 🛫🍝🍋⛪🛍🛍

@@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293 thank you so much for the recommendations, I will try to get samples before I leave! I have not quite decided what decants to bring, Beige from Chanel and Wulong Cha from Nishane for sure. We are staying in Perugia, and from what I understand, there is a local perfumery where they make their own perfumes and candles, I hope to find some good stuff there. We are also going to Rome, but not sure if I will have enough time to shop for perfumes there. The perfumes I blindbought that turned out to be fails were Desert Rosewood from Goldfield and Banks, and Bohemian Absinthe from Les Soeurs de Noe. They smelled sooo good in the store, but at home...big failure! How is perfumeshopping in Japan?

    • @ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293
      @ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@TheTopNote Haha, I can't help myself-- my enthusiasm floweth over! 😄 My recommendations here are almost exclusively for hot summer holidays and like you said in your video, when you spray things in a different physical location, right out of context, they just 'don't smell the same'. I know exactly what you meant. Adameku is jasmine and the most glorious layers of freshly squeezed orange juice you've ever smelled (Japanese perfumers use different raw ingredients and have a unique sensibility when blending); spray this one mid Winter before going to lunch in a Yorkshire pub (or something like the beautifully refreshing kumquat/orange citrus'n''tea extravaganza that is Memoire de Daisen In by Ella K) and it's hideous. Makes absolutely no sense. Spray anything in my 'Italian Summer' list' before going out for brunch in Positano and duuuuuude. Now we're talking.🥰

4:46 The packaging for these MP sizes are quite poor. I wouldn’t trust them for travel. I would look for a much better fitting tops/lids + clingwrap and only use the sprayer when I’ve reached my destination
10:50 I love Irish Doux (not the usual powdery iris which I much prefer) and also Viriscence (green along the lines of Chanel No. 19 and Cristalle).
23:15 Weather would be a factor along with the smells and elements around us. The perfumes I use when I’m in the tropics smell and evolve differently vs. when I’m back in Europe.
Good to have you back! Take care and hope you feel much better soon.

Creme de Cuir was my first (and so far only) BDK fragrance. I like wearing it on warm spring/summer evenings.
Which L'Artisan do you have your eyes on? I quite like many of their older classics by Duchaufour, but none of the newer ones really do it for me. They all seem kind of soft and sweet to me, or they contain too much Ambroxan like the otherwise wonderful Iris de Gris.
