Saw Mr. Hitch at the Rondo, Bath last week with Morris Windsor on 'light' percussion rig and backing vocals. They're a little older of course - it didn't matter a toss - truly great show. I had seen him the week before in Exeter and was curious how he would vary the set and maintain energy a week into a tour zipping around the country. Well he nailed it at both venues, charming, witty, engaging and melodic. Superb songwriting. Morris Windsor sings powerful backing too - really expanded the set at the Rondo - a treat.
Morris Windsor and Andy Metcalfe (The Egyptians) were the perfect accomponists for Robyn both of them are premier musicians. This was when they were on A&M records who pushed them toward commercialty and they delivered without compromise. Robyn prefers acoustic guitarring but he shines brightly on electric here.
obligatory "I was there" post - amazing to see this! Too bad there's no clear shots of audience, the narcissist in me wants to see 17-year old me bopping around again
Great band; unfortunately this album sucked, this was the last straw for me. Gorgeous bass solo on "Earthly Paradise", I remember vividly how I had to wait until the very last song to hear something worthy....but it was worth the wait. Had been disappointed in the "Queen Elvis" album also; had seen Robyn do all those songs live acoustic and was mortified when I heard the cheesy production, arrangements and performances on the actual album. Robyn was doing interviews at the time saying how he wanted to "sell out", "crossover", have commercial success (I'm sure being on A&M didn't help), and I got off the bus. I saw them on this tour a couple of times, including at Maxwell's right before or after New Year's, they did two sets. Good show (lame audience). But between 1977 and 1987, Robyn, Andy and Morris (and associated friends) could practically do no wrong! THANKS ANDY!

I saw them on or around this tour. Queen Elvis I think. "Freeze" is one of the best rocking songs on that album.
Andy Metcalfe the great genius. My favorite musician ever. Thanks for all.
He's amazing - certainly one of the most underrated bassists.
I cannot get enough of Andy Metcalfe's bass on 'Winchester' from 'Element of Light.'
Worked worked for the man, have seen him a million times.I recommend the Somewhere Apart book. sheck it out.

This was awesome. I would love a remastered, full version of this concert. Such a shame they didn't put a live album out around this period.
Acid Bird.... sheer beauty!
Great stuff. I saw them live during this era and it was fantastically good.
Just goes to show what three musicians can do.
Would have been great to see them with Roger Jackson just once, though.
Thanks for posting Parts 1 & 2 of this set - never seen it before. Great sound.

I was there too!
The music lover in me doesn't want to see the audience. They aren't the stars.
I'm 100% sure I saw the Seattle leg of this tour.
Perspex Island is such a good record.
bloody great !
Reassemble the Egyptians.
Strange. They had a keyboard player when I saw him.
I hate trios but exceptions can be made.
These guys are all you need. Best live show I ever saw.
WTF is Andy Metcalfe doing these days? I always thought he was a great bassist.
Senator Jim Dracula same.
