This entire album was a banger! Guy is one of my favorites. If I was stuck on an island with 10 albums to listen to forever the Guy album mos def would get a slot. I would put this on back in the day while I was getting ready to go to the club and was crunk by the time I got there. Check out Groove me or Round and Round from the same album. Think there are even videos for it. Keep up the great work and enjoy.
Thanks for your info, now I know more about "Guy". They make a really good sound and groove, so I'll rummage around on TH-cam. The music reminds me of the band JODECI. Greetings from Heidelberg / Germany
Terence Trent D'Arby's album is another banger from that timeframe. Not a bad song on the album "Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby" . Dang 2 slots filled. LOL
She got the same expression many of us had, Including me .. , in the late 80's and early 90's when this groove came out .. for every single BEAT, "our People" loose their damn mind's .. It's the dang joint up in here. Period. I so love it when Young People get to experience the "Awesomeness" of their Elder's .. Especially DANCING IT OUT .. COME ON! We hooked it up too!! Love it SO much and she feelin it. It is, as it was. African descendant and deeply imbedded Love!🖤
I use to listen to this song on my cassette Walkman when walking home from school, junior year in high school. Let’s Chill is another great one by them, the lead singer Aaron Hall had a great solo album, so he did his brother but it wasn’t as good. Teddy Riley started Blackstreet and he is responsible for Rump Shaker. All good music and yes the start of New Jack Swing, such a funky sound, brings back good memories!
Guy was in New Jack City and did that song. I still listen to them to this day. Teddy Riley is the father of the New Jack Swing. Guy has tons of classics, both slow and fast. Play Do Me Right. Guy is iconic
Now This Song here! was a Complete Over The Top High Powered Ageless Jam 4real.It actually reminded Me a few Bad Hunny Bun Sistas I've always kept My Eyes on back in 87'-88',89' & 90'.Anyone Who was back then could probably tell You that.It wasn't much difference between Those Year's.And that Time in particularly was a Special era.Because a Change was on the Horizon 🌅 And All anybody knew back then. Was that Staying Fresh n Fly was a Priority. And when "GUY" came out They Flipped Everybody out because We all were thinking that They were "The GAP BAND".And that "Aaron Hall" was "Charlie Wilson".But it didn't matter because Aaron,Teddy and Damon.Became an Instant Smash on The Streets.Long live The 80's Ya'll.
I found a video from Guy in which the keyborder played the Lync LN-4 synthesizer, which always reminds me of George Duke. The song "i like" has a lot of Minimoog bass that always makes a great sound. The band also has a certain resemblance to the band Jodeci. The vocals and the hard metal snare sound are almost the same. Greetings from Heidelberg / Germany
I love your reaction because it makes me feel like I felt when I lived it and you ain't lying a bunch of these songs from this era made you want to dance with somebody lol I'm subscribing
I like your vibe if you don't mind me asking how old are you ? Love & Basketball my favorite movie is where this song came from keep rocking and stay safe and blessed
Late '80s NYC that was around the time when kids was killing each other like crazy when Air Jordans first came out when I was in high school brings back sad memories.

React to Groove Me by Guy. The Guy sound is called New Jack Swing. That sound changed r&b in the late 80s.....it was huge back then.
Your reactions are the best keep em coming

Late '80s NYC that was around the time when kids was killing each other like crazy when Air Jordans first came out when I was in high school brings back sad memories.
Yeah we tend to look back at that time period with a lot of nostalgia, but there was a lot of violence in those nyc streets.
