    I have a truck with the same engine as yours and I ordered the alternator in the link your provided and the alternator is about an inch short from reaching the hole(on one of the bracket holes)

      Did the bracket and alternator look the same as what I have? Did you need to clock the alternator?

    I did this and my Alternator is barely pushing 12 volts. Advice?

    Can you show me how you have your battery wires hooked up? Is one positive going to the solenoid and the other to the starter? And does the negative from the starter go to the solenoid and to the battery?

    • @jsquaredrepaired5017
      @jsquaredrepaired5017  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a ground from the battery to the body and to the engine block. The positive is hooked to the relay and starter. If you Google images for ford starter wiring diagram you should see some good pictures.

    Thanks for the short & informative video. Looks like it will be well worth upgrading for stereo, aux. lighting ,ect.
    I'm using a 3G 130 amp for a 99 Stang v6 into my
    92 F250 351.
    What is your thought on a 150 amp circuit breaker vs. a mega fuse?
    Thanks, I appreciate the information.
    a 99' v6 Stang.

      You are very welcome. As long as you have circuit protection it doesn't matter if it's a breaker or fuse. The mega fuse was most readily available to me. Let me know how it goes. Good luck.

    I have a 1989 f150 4.9 .. did you have to change belt or reclock the alternator

  • @mvannorden63
    @mvannorden63 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If converting a 1989 F-150 with the 5.8L, I would use a 3G alternator out of a 94 3.0L ford Taurus.

    Your description failed to say which engine your 94 F150 has?

      I have the 300 6 cylinder, but this is a general procedure for alternator upgrade on any Ford.

      @@jsquaredrepaired5017true old school can tell at a glance it's the almost indestructible inline 300 six ! I did this on my 88 but had to get another belt size original was to short . Put new tensioner on to and now every now and then belt jumps off! Never has before ! The 3g large frame 130 amp is perfect ! That 2g was nothing but problems ! 3g runs cooler than 2g and doesn't have that fire hazzard plug in !

    I have an 89 F150. Think it would be the same alternator as in the amazon link in your description? I'm nervous to order the wrong one online but it's a very good price.

      If the mounting flange looks the same it will work. I don't know off hand what mounting style was used in your year. Please reply so others know what you end up with. Good luck.

    • @mvannorden63
      @mvannorden63 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a 89 F150 with the 5.8l. A little bit of grinding on mounting bracket is needed. The alternator does not have to clocked but makes it easier to work on latter.
