That is the most weird yet awesome machine. The way it jumped at the end like a deer or horse was amazing. Perhaps one use for this is to have several and set them in the woods or mountains when someone is lost, search the area, and carry medical supplies.
That might be useful to the military. I don't know how but I just had that idea. I wonder how it works. Is it finished completely or is it still being built? Those were some questions I had.
@jayblack874 I think it's a gas motor or something. That's why when it's hook up to a different power source inside u dont hear it. That's my guess at least
I guess a whole bunch of research went into this development. I can see how it can be useful when it is refined and developed further. It could have real military advantages, and it could change rural search and rescue forever. Great stuff!
So this thing can stumble after being kicked but it has trouble with a small pile of bricks? I know the balance thing is awesome and all, but please, get your priorities straight.
@BadFlyingFish My point is that balance is vital to walking, running, jumping, and climbing. Balance comes before climbing. A baby, especially a blind one, would not be able to crawl, much less climb stairs without proper balance. No matter how long it took creatures to gain a sense of balance, it took even longer for them to climb with their limbs.
@Semlohwerd i agree-- its amazing technology but cant begin to compare to a simple 4 or 6 wheeled vehicle. also all those sensors and mechanics are bound to fail sooner or later and the whole thing is useless. there very little that can go wrong with a wheeled vehicle.
@BadFlyingFish Yes, the ability to recover from the kick is indicative of a high level of speed/balance. But I don’t think it’s quite as excessive as you do. Its feet also function as its "sight". So recovering balance on a flat surface, is just a matter of speed of movement. Climbing anything of any size requires a different type of balance. Even small rocks made it stumble. And really, it had no “trouble” climbing the brick pile without stumbling, it was just taking slow, high steps.
That buzzing noise is actually so loud that you could hear it from a few hundred meters away. A few hundred meters is how much distance it takes for this to be too close and i'm gone.
This could be a awesome decoy in combat situations. It could easily pass off as someone using a chainsaw to cut down trees instead of paying attention to his surroundings. Makes the enemy think they have the surprise.
This is going to give me nightmares for a year it's only a matter of time before the machines enslave us but it still is an amazing piece of technology.
Technology wise, that was awesome. Overall stranger - perspective wise, it was scary. The noise is annoying, and to be honest in the beginning I thought it was a walking house fly, which was freaky.. lol. But if they keep up this whole thing it could turn out really cool. Not really sure what it's for though..?
@BadFlyingFish This is a machine. It has no optics. Balance is a far more basic part(priority) of walking than being able to blindly climb uneven terrain. In fact blindly climbing uneven terrain without a good balancing ability wouldn't be possible. You have to be able to walk before you run...or climb.
This is thee scariest, terrifying, most disturbing piece of film I've ever seen
Shit.....that's something outta Silent Hill..
That is the most weird yet awesome machine. The way it jumped at the end like a deer or horse was amazing. Perhaps one use for this is to have several and set them in the woods or mountains when someone is lost, search the area, and carry medical supplies.
can it do that stuff on its own or does it have to be controlled?????
can it react with things in the air as well as on the ground? for instance if I threw a baseball at it would it dodge out of the way?
That might be useful to the military. I don't know how but I just had that idea. I wonder how it works. Is it finished completely or is it still being built? Those were some questions I had.
how long before they're fitted with an AP turrets and sent against all the red-listers in the US? about ten years or so?
Wow! I really mean it! There's no word to tell how... How amazing that Big Dog is.
Does it hump legs??
does it have to be so loud? What runs it? A weed wacker?
I laughed so hard at this, it is AWESOME!!! and it walks so well like a deer...greatest invention ever...
@jayblack874 I think it's a gas motor or something. That's why when it's hook up to a different power source inside u dont hear it. That's my guess at least

WOOOOOOWWWWW MAN AGAIN I AM IN LOVE WITH ITS MOVEMENTS.........i mean they have really defined the name "BOSTON DYNAMICS"
The problem is, they don't show us how it reacts if it bumps into a tree, will it get stuck?
The noise it makes coupled with the way it walks is the most hilarious thing ever.
The link sents me to the front page. What was it?
IF this thing was running around at night while i was in the forrest holy shit i would shit lol
So this thing can stumble after being kicked but it has trouble with a small pile of bricks? I know the balance thing is awesome and all, but please, get your priorities straight.
Okayyyy So what's it used for?
3,5 minuttes of a wild giggling..thanks!
Dude wtf, don't kick the robot. He's going to remember that when the machine revolution happens.
I love how it looks so proud at 1:25 but then fumbles and becomes bizzarely and almost eerily life-like.
@steeltoester Yeah that's a good question cause, it can be usefull as deminor but i'm not even sure of it...
were they got the idea for battle Los Angeles rocket robot ...
did cyriak made this?
@nosvaructu what is it for?
Looks like two ninjas hiding underneath a blanket becoming very frustrated with the random terrain.
@BadFlyingFish My point is that balance is vital to walking, running, jumping, and climbing. Balance comes before climbing. A baby, especially a blind one, would not be able to crawl, much less climb stairs without proper balance. Unbelievably great! Great work guys, keep going!
Wow that's one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Just think of what can be done with things like this.
@BadFlyingFish Yes, the ability to recover from the kick is indicative of a high level of speed/balance. But I don’t think it’s quite as excessive as you do. Its feet also function as its "sight". This is awesome. We are definitely going into a new era :D
Looks like something out of metal gear :D so awesome!!
Have that going through downtown new York. I wonder what people would think of it
can it evolve.
ROFLOLMAO AT 1:26
SO FREAKING FUNNY WHEN THAT THING SLIPS IN THE ICE
nice invention we all like to hike and feel like theres the 40ft long bee beside us
but can it blend?
I have no words for this, its just so amazing that it shut me up.
That buzzing noise is actually so loud that you could hear it from a few hundred meters away. A few hundred meters is how much distance it takes for this to be too close and i'm gone.
BUT WILL IT BLEND
But can it run crysis?
Wow... Great equipment for flanking in warfare!! -They'll never hear you coming!
What amazing dynamic balance it is !!!
dat balance! Must have taken years of devellopping to get that kind of balance, amazing job!
This video put a smile on my face. I'm so I don't know but I hope it gets better. And is soooooooooo cool.
thats freakin' awsome!!!!! but seriously, somebody who isnt scared by that, is not a human!
holy shit!! that is amazing! how did you do that?!?!
@steeltoester Transporting heavy supplies on difficult terain. Or posibly carrying a injured soldeir.
why not add hooves on it? Seems like those feet are just to small
Who gave that thing a vuvuzuela?
but seriously, that's some good engineering, advanced robotics!
@LucianUramu I felt exactly the same way. It kind of made me feel like a cross between slightly upset and disturbed watching it flail around.
@cyberpvnk Think of it as a transport in uneven terrain. Warzone.
@tcorourke2007 how th hell do you think two guys fold into that!
Wow thats amazing, it manages to keep its balance very well! I don't think many of us could get kicked like that and be able to keep on our feet.
Is this a robot balancing test? couldn't you have made it moar appealing I'm gonna barf!
can you ride it?
Why is it called big dog when it moved like a deer?
The balancing is impressive.
This thing caused me to become afraid of the dark a few months ago...
AND NOW TH-cam LINKED ME BACK TO IT.
DAMN YOU TH-cam.
This could be a awesome decoy in combat situations. It could easily pass off as someone using a chainsaw to cut down trees instead of paying attention to his surroundings. Makes the enemy think they have the surprise.
Yes, this is realy cool! I see so good realisation of move in the first time. My rating: very good and my respekt.!
Sensacional... Parabéns futuro!!!
This is going to give me nightmares for a year it's only a matter of time before the machines enslave us but it still is an amazing piece of technology.
does he kill all us???
I don't know why, I found it hilarious, when it was about to slip on the ice!
The question is will it blend?
thumbs up if adam sent you here
Just the way it walked and the noise was even more disturbing than that video of the mutating, multiplying, yellow lamb..... *shudders*
@swimbikerunfun wheels do not slip in the rubble ...
wow
It looks cute and scary at the same time !
That's awesome technology right there folks!
The way it acted to regain balance after it got kicked was amazing
@EscapeNewJersey my mistake, i just meant ball proof.
And it depends on the size of the explosion, everything is explosionproof to some degree.
@pphony1234 The point of kicking that thing is to expiriment if that thing can balans itself..
That thing is being developed by a company that is working for the military. They intend to use it as a mechanical pack mule.
its the middle of the night and i should be sleeping but im watching a robot walk around through the woods
the question is.....will it blend?
I really hope this thing isn't supposed to be stealthy?
the way it recovers from slippage is very impressive
can it Breakdance?
Because the enemy will never predict that they could be defeated by what sounds like a box of wasps.
"They'll never see us coming!"
I think the camo is so that it can go into stealth mode being as silent as it is.
This is truly amazing
Wow, im surprised how it slips on the ice, but recovers so quickly!
The movement + the noise = ass-clenching terror
i dont understand how they found not only 1 guy with really skinny legs but 2 ?
Is this a 4 legged Gekko?
Your video will haunt my dreams forever..
@BadFlyingFish This is a machine. It has no optics. Balance is a far more basic part(priority) of walking than being able to blindly climb uneven terrain.
