    I love how you place your roses throughout the garden with other plants, bushes and trees instead of just roses crammed together. You get to enjoy the beauty of each rose and plant. They compliment each other so well. Your garden is beautiful, peaceful and artistically done. Thank you so much for sharing it and your knowledge!

    I adore your beautiful garden, Olga. Your roses are magnificent and so well cared for. I love the way you talk about your beautiful plants. We had a terrible bug infestations during our summer and autumn, here in subtropical Australia. We had so much heat and constant rain with very little sun, that I only got small blooms when my David Austin roses did bloom! Sadly, I lost my Olivia Austin rose after she finely succumbed to spider mites. Very unusual weather, and now that it is winter I have the hardier roses blooming, but they will stop soon because of the cold nights. Then I must prune them.

      Oh, the weather! We, gardeners, have to deal with it all the time. Sorry to hear about the conditions of your past summer and fall…

    I love the Lady of Shallott rose so much. Mine bloomed this week and fortunately, the rain wasn't so strong here so the blooms weren't damaged. Thanks for the tour! Everything looks amazing!

    Yay! June is here and so are Olga's rose tours! I absolutely love your rose and hydrangea tours, even though I have roses and hydrangeas in my own garden. It satisfies the need to buy multiple varieties when my "TH-cam gardening friend" already has them. ☺️🌹💮
    Quick question: the rose at your front door...is ut the Eden climbing rose? You call it that around minute 9:49, and then call it New Dawn around 18:18. Your peaceful walks through the garden are some of the best on the tube, even though there are dozens of gardening channels now. As a master gardener in the south, I appreciate your IPM tidbits and attention to soil health as you create so much beauty and food in your CT garden. 💝💐

    Your roses are beautiful and healthy! I live in the south shore suburbs of Boston and they looked fine in the beginning of May. Then we had so much rain and I was unable to check on them. When I finally got a chance to check on them, to my dismay, the leaves on my lady of shallot were covered in holes and getting defoliated. I took a few leaves off the rosebush and took it up to my local nursery and asked them for advice on what I should do and what insect was eating them. He said it was not an insect but a fungus and recommended I buy a fungicide and spray them. I suspected it was not a fungus, but an insect invasion, but I followed his instructions and sprayed all the rosebuses. It didn’t help. So I waited and sprayed them with neem oil. I only got a few roses, and I’m wondering if the plants are going to die because we have practically no leaves. The bushes looks like a skeleton. Do you have any advice on what I should do? My lady of shallot is several years old now. I have never had a problem like this before.

    Unfortunately Shropshire Lad is discontinued now. I have bought from eBay, so will see how it will perform 😊
    How old is yours as bush itself doesn't look very vigorous? But blooms definitely something amazing 🤩

    • @OlgaCarmody
      @OlgaCarmody  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is still for sale for American customers on David Austin website. Mine is 2 years old and it is its first year bloom time. So yes, not very vigorous. Although very prone to black spot in my garden.

    Wonderful tour of your roses Olga, I love roses after the rain. Vanessa Bell is very pretty. I have one but she isn't doing well, I think because I moved her. I'll give her time and see if she gets used to her new home. I love Eden rose but I have never seen one here in the UK. A Shropshire Lad is a stunner. I once saw one covering an arch in a garden, beautiful. Unfortunately it had now been discontinued by David Austin. Happy Gardening! X

      In the US David Austin company still offers Shropshire Lad for sale. It is prone to black spot here in Connecticut, but blooms are gorgeous! Happy gardening to you as well!

    If you can only choose one climber, which one would you choose, Eden, generous gardener, or new dawn? Like your videos, very calming and relaxing. Thank you.

    • @OlgaCarmody
      @OlgaCarmody  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I really like Generous Gardener, but New Dawn in mature stage can be breathtaking. I have it as a baby so can’t really say. There is one rose - Rosanna climbing rose, which I am dying to plant in my garden. I saw it in New York rose botanical garden and loved the vigor and health of it. I just can’t find the space….

    I’ve found that the last 2 weeks in May are prime time for the insects. I use the squish method every day. Once we get into June, they’re mostly safe.

    You mentioned in the video that to treat for pest you need to understand the lifecycle. I know that the two pests that have bothered my rosebushes in my garden are saw flys and a caterpillar. The caterpillar puts a little hole in a very young rosebud and the sawflies eat the leaves from underneath and make them paper thin. I’ve been using insecticidal soap for the sawflies and BT spray for the caterpillars. This seems to be working. But I was just wondering if there was something else that I should do or if there’s a preventative treatment for either one of those?

    compliments to your beautful garden😍👍🏻! Can I ask is this the first or second flush this year? I had a massive first flush in May but now in June my roses are taking a break. What would you recommend regarding fertilizer for upcoming period? Thanks❤

    If i am not mistaken, i think i saw a black and blue sage salvia in a pot on your portch. They are faithful to bloom and multiply every year. A full blow sun loving perennial. I love all the salvia ,particularly victoia blue garden salvia. Wind walker red salvia is very pungent,and a prolific bloomer. Have you tried self seeding larkspur in your open sunny vista's. It is has a classic Victorian flare about it and comes in so many colors. Nigella or devils claw has feathery like wispy foliage and a unique bloom and seed pod. I think this is were black oil comes from. Any way enough of that . Your roses are superb.

      Yes, you are right, that is black and blue sage. Lived in my garage the whole winter, well... hibernated kind of....And now it is ready to bloom away! Happy gardening!
