What Chris's orbiters have concluded about how aware he is is also irrelevant, the Lawyer will be free to argue his case to jury who have no formed opinion. Idealy at least. If his lawyer really knows what hes doing though then none of this may ever come up, as he will realize that with the right framing he can likley get Chris plea guilty and accept instituonalization as long as he presents it to Chris as the thing that will get him out of the nasty Jerkops hands the fastest.
