James I heard you say it's hard to talk about cos your parents are now clean an doing what they can but it's important to be honest as sod everyone else it's the stuff you tell yourself and your the genuine Scouse product Son, be proud of them as look what a lovely man they have brought up. If a fighter is uncomfortable at the weight or looks a bit 'jawed' like Joe Calzaghe used to, this is traumatizing your liver an kidneys like mad. If you struggling, move up and I bet you carry it fine, it's natural, I see fighters looking drawn on the scales then they re-hydrate like mad for that mythic advantage of a few pounds, well some look like they've had a pump up they ass overnight, LoL but anyway yeh I just wanna see the lads get the showers safe.
A lot of Soldiers resort to substances after service, a lot! My Dad was wounded in Korea and flown to the British Army On the Rhine (BAOR) hosi and came home and he couldn't sleep, he'd walk the floors sometimes coming in to kiss my head so being the man he was he got a milk round thru the night and a day job from 8.30-5.30pm and still only managed a few hours of twitchy sleep but for me that's a tough man as De Niro says in 'Bronx Tale' or if you know Teddy Atlas's story with his Dad! Same thing!
What a lovely woman James' Mum seems to be also, not many addicts are bad people, it's just that they/I cannot just pick something up and take it or leave it like others, no we have an affliction, an illness that makes us pick up and pick up and pick up again so cannot touch once clean. As she said she had no power over it. Beautiful admission to a lovely Son.
