I've made a zigzag version for my sister. I did forward knots for a complete section then switched to only backward knots for the next and repeated that until the bracelet was done. It looked pretty cool.
@@friedsocks I used the same string for the entire bracelet, no color switches. The only thing I was changed was knot direction. It literally made it a zigzag shape. Say you have 4 colors. Do as many forward knot rows as you would like then do the backward knots for the same number of rows.
It's weird, but I've been knotting for about a year and a half and I've never made a real candy stripe (I've made variants of it but never the real one)
@@antoniocamelo1054 check masha’s tutorials, she has a lot of examples of candy stripe “variants” that are kind of structured the same with the stripes but they have other shapes in the pattern, making it more complex. example: criss-cross candy stripe (hope this helps!)
100% agree with you about starting with a chevron! I started with candy stripes and I've been making bracelets for like, 20 years on and off lol. I STILL favor forward knots too. Starting with a chevron should get you used to both!
I started with a chevron bracelet and adjustable bracelet, but they looked SO WONKY, LOL🤣 Frankly, @Masha Knots was the first channel I watched to make a Chevron bracelet so, I would like to thank @Masha Knots for helping!!!😺
hi! i often want to change the colors around for a pattern but never know what looks good together. could you make a video explaining your thought process when choosing colors for a pattern/ collections?
Very nice explanation, thanks for sharing. I was also wondering what was the cleanest way to put it on your wrist. Do you use a special knot to make it look nice ? (I had a look on your vids but didn't find any info about it)
Thank you for making such a clear, easy to follow tutorial! I thought making bracelets like this might be relaxing, so I picked up a kit, but the instructions it came with weren't quite clicking for me. This video was super helpful for filling in the pieces I was having a hard time understanding.
Already off to an amazing start. Explaining how long you need to make it is incredible I know everyone's wrists are different but still I only looped one strand with all the other strand twice on each strand of course and it made it so much shorter so now I'm worried that I'm going to go through all this and it's not going to be long enough 😭
Make the knots ALL even in tightness. That was my issue when I first started. I just made sure they were all an even tightness and maybe a little more tightness for the first knot of the row
There's another reason why I think the chevron is more beginner-friendly than the candy stripe and that is because it's symmetrical and doesn't twist in only one direction. That was really hard for me when I was a beginner.
hello, just wanted to say thank you! i will be selling these, and you have been a great help in making the variety of braclets i can make larger, so THANK YOU!
Many years ago a friend and I tried to make asexual pride flag bracelets for us and we failed so hard 😵💫 I somehow got a hang on it and managed to make them under a lot of stress. I don't know what you're doing differently but it's so much easier, enjoyable and relaxing! I'm also in love with the triangle ends, they look so clean! I'm sad that we lost contact, very long distance pen pals, because I would love to make a new one for her.
I made this bracelet and it turned out great except I had more than 30 cm of thread left over per strand (or over 60 cm per color) so I turned it into a bookmark instead because I didn't want to waste that
thank you for putting this idea out there because I haven't made bracelets in a long time and I just got so anxious about starting the ones that I'm making as gifts that I ended up not wanting to start. I think I'll make a bookmark first that way I can actually get into it!
Okay you probably won't answer this cuz who knows how old this video is but the black bracelet that you showed with the rainbow in it that you said was difficult Oh my God what is that called I want to replicate that
Checkered Candy Stripe! I have a tutorial for this bracelet too, it’s linked in the description :) I usually link all patterns/tutorials for the bracelets I show!
really good tut for me candy stripe is better than chevron for begginer becuase ive beenn trying to find a good tut and been having mental breakdowns that i couldnt do it and now from this tutorial ive made my first braclet . really good tutorial for begginers
I hope you show how to do the knot at the end because other people are not which is completely ridiculous. One chick explain how to do the forward knot and I got it going only because I had to put it on the slowest soeed possible bc she didnt gave the camera in veiw when she tied the knots🤦♀️
What would you suggest as the minimum numbers of strings used while using the half triangle? Also, how would you tie the beginning of the strings, before you start the half triangle?
I've made a zigzag version for my sister. I did forward knots for a complete section then switched to only backward knots for the next and repeated that until the bracelet was done. It looked pretty cool.
For the backward knots, did u switch colors for the string or still using the same string u used for doing the forward knots?
@@friedsocks I used the same string for the entire bracelet, no color switches. The only thing I was changed was knot direction. It literally made it a zigzag shape. Say you have 4 colors. Do as many forward knot rows as you would like then do the backward knots for the same number of rows.
That's an awesome idea! I'm sure it looked pretty cool. Hope you don't mind me trying it out sometime?

I keep my threads the same tightness but my bands always curve from the middle !!!,???????!!!!!??????
How do you tie them off?

I agree. As a beginner I never made a candy stripe because i knew that chevron was better for a beginner. Glad i made that decision!
I made a candy stripe as a first bracelet but I already want to make a chevron right away

I agree. You should start with a chevron. I started with the candy stripe and had some problems with backward knots as well! Also love the tutorial.
AGREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I do a chevron it looks so wonky no matter what I do, and the only “cool” brackets I can make are 15 string candy stripes-

Yayyyy! Even tho I know how to make it already I love watching the videos and perfecting my technique

You can tape it down and repeat it every time it curls up

how do you get your candy stripe bracelets to stay straight and not curve? that's my biggest issue!

Do you have to loop the strings and have two of each? Or can you just nod it on the end and have one
Why can't we delete our accounts on bracelet book? Every good website needs to have the feature to delete accounts...
does anyome know how to do a teardrop loop for this?
What’s the set up? How do you hold the other strings in place?
Thank you for this tutorial! this is the first that actually makes sense!😄💛👍
How do you keep it from twisting on itself?!
Mine does not look like that 😭😭 I did the knots right!!! And triple checked!!
I love making these brackets but mine always curl a few rows after I start do you know how to fix it
Literally had a stroke making this
at the end when you say "now we are ready to make ties" what does this mean and how do you do it? Sorry if its a stupid question
How long do you make it? It's either I didn't hear u whenbu said it or I accidentally skipped past it
Thank it’s really helps me I always did the chevron now can I do the candy stripes ❤
How long should I make my string??
Thank you so much 😁 I think I know now why mine kept spiraling up: I wasn’t completing the knots 😂
i looooove this🙂
Can you please do a video of a multiple color switch knot for a alpha. I'm having trouble figuring out how to do it :/
If your talking about switching colors in a alpha they already have 2 videos on it with 2 different methods
such a lovely helpful video❤
I was happy that I got my copy on my birthday. The 6th of August. 💜
That's my birthday too!
How do you make the ties?
I ordered you book again to England?
I’m just now learning how to make this and I think the double strips is easier and more cuter!!🥰 thank you for sharing your amazing talent!!😍💯
I can't remember well how not to make it twist.i think that it's un nudo derecho y el siguiente izquierdo.
I like them both
Love them all you are talented
When I do this one mine curls idk how to make sure it doesn’t curl

@kayden8093 aw you're welcome! ☺️ Good luck and have fun!
what do I do if my bracelet starts to twist? 😢
Wow! I love the bracelet!
After doing my candy stripe bracelet (my second bracelet I ever made in my adult years), it curled up the further I knotted. Did I do something wrong?
If you tighten knots at varying tightness it will curl you have to pay attention to the pressure your using I haven’t figured it out yet either
@@sparklight0964 good to know, thank you!
I haven’t done cans stripe in a while but I’m planning on doing some of these to practice my knotting to get them more consistent for alpha bracelets

How long should each thread be for the bracelet? (For a typical 13 year old wrist)
