It's weird, but I've been knotting for about a year and a half and I've never made a real candy stripe (I've made variants of it but never the real one)

@@antoniocamelo1054 check masha’s tutorials, she has a lot of examples of candy stripe “variants” that are kind of structured the same with the stripes but they have other shapes in the pattern, making it more complex. example: criss-cross candy stripe (hope this helps!)

I've made a zigzag version for my sister. I did forward knots for a complete section then switched to only backward knots for the next and repeated that until the bracelet was done. It looked pretty cool.
For the backward knots, did u switch colors for the string or still using the same string u used for doing the forward knots?
@@friedsocks I used the same string for the entire bracelet, no color switches. The only thing I was changed was knot direction. It literally made it a zigzag shape. Say you have 4 colors. Do as many forward knot rows as you would like then do the backward knots for the same number of rows.

100% agree with you about starting with a chevron! I started with candy stripes and I've been making bracelets for like, 20 years on and off lol. I STILL favor forward knots too. Starting with a chevron should get you used to both!
I agree. As a beginner I never made a candy stripe because i knew that chevron was better for a beginner. Glad i made that decision!

Already off to an amazing start. Explaining how long you need to make it is incredible I know everyone's wrists are different but still I only looped one strand with all the other strand twice on each strand of course and it made it so much shorter so now I'm worried that I'm going to go through all this and it's not going to be long enough 😭

What would you suggest as the minimum numbers of strings used while using the half triangle? Also, how would you tie the beginning of the strings, before you start the half triangle?
I agree. You should start with a chevron. I started with the candy stripe and had some problems with backward knots as well! Also love the tutorial.

When I do a chevron it looks so wonky no matter what I do, and the only “cool” brackets I can make are 15 string candy stripes-

There's another reason why I think the chevron is more beginner-friendly than the candy stripe and that is because it's symmetrical and doesn't twist in only one direction. That was really hard for me when I was a beginner.

how do you get your candy stripe bracelets to stay straight and not curve? that's my biggest issue!
Make the knots ALL even in tightness. That was my issue when I first started. I just made sure they were all an even tightness and maybe a little more tightness for the first knot of the row
How long do you make it? It's either I didn't hear u whenbu said it or I accidentally skipped past it
at the end when you say "now we are ready to make ties" what does this mean and how do you do it? Sorry if its a stupid question

really good tut for me candy stripe is better than chevron for begginer becuase ive beenn trying to find a good tut and been having mental breakdowns that i couldnt do it and now from this tutorial ive made my first braclet . really good tutorial for begginers

After doing my candy stripe bracelet (my second bracelet I ever made in my adult years), it curled up the further I knotted. Did I do something wrong?
If you tighten knots at varying tightness it will curl you have to pay attention to the pressure your using I haven’t figured it out yet either

I haven’t done cans stripe in a while but I’m planning on doing some of these to practice my knotting to get them more consistent for alpha bracelets

what do I do if my bracelet starts to twist? 😢
I made this bracelet and it turned out great except I had more than 30 cm of thread left over per strand (or over 60 cm per color) so I turned it into a bookmark instead because I didn't want to waste that
thank you for putting this idea out there because I haven't made bracelets in a long time and I just got so anxious about starting the ones that I'm making as gifts that I ended up not wanting to start. I think I'll make a bookmark first that way I can actually get into it!

I hope you show how to do the knot at the end because other people are not which is completely ridiculous. One chick explain how to do the forward knot and I got it going only because I had to put it on the slowest soeed possible bc she didnt gave the camera in veiw when she tied the knots🤦♀️
