I could tell the instant I woke up from the microdiscectomy it was fixed- that’s pretty bad when you wake up from surgery and it feels like a truck is parked on top of you but you can still tell it worked hahaha. I remember before they had MRI there was poor ability to diagnose it and there was often debate on if people with this “so called back pain” are just trying to get out of work lol. it’s absolutely debilitating.
@@SchrodingersBoxA sixth L! Wow that's crazy! I remember my first ruptured disk the L5. When I was able to finally get out of bed and shuffle my way to work, I made the mistake of getting on the elevator. What was I thinking?! Well I was lucky. Even though my disk was ruptured a chiropractor kept me out of surgery.
Wow that’s fascinating about the chiropractor. I am no fan of chiropractors at all- I don’t see it as medicine or science in any way. but I know a lot of people swear by them. i don’t understand how you can have a mechanical interference- actual disc material pushing on a spinal nerve- and fix that through a spine manipulation. But I am glad it worked for you, I just don’t understand how it’s possible from a medical perspective.
Regarding that breakout box, I got that same box from Amazon a couple of years ago. To my surprise the pins were wrongly labeled, 7 was 8, etc, which took me an extra hour of diagnostic time. Finally I realized it wasn't the car, it was the tool. Rather than return it I used a sharpie to change the numbers beside each plug. You can't change it inside, the plugs fit in to a board which is wrongly designed. I left a balanced but glaring review. To my surprise the seller simply changed his name, which deletes any old reviews. Go figure. I agree with you about the LoadPro. I believe Dan's company went bankrupt since sales didn't match expenses. His decision to cloud the way it works (to avoid DIY copying?) doesn't work for analytic thinkers. It is really a very simple design, just a parallel 25 ohm resistor, switch and fuse in a nicely designed handle. Great for quick load testing, though many will use a light bulb for qualitative answers.
Oh wow that’s interesting on the breakout box!! Well I used it quite a bit and mine is wired correctly but what a bummer- always makes it extra frustrating when you have out of the box failure!! I actually talked to Dan a year ago or so. He referred to the load pro as pretty much a curse on his life as he invested the farm on it and of course it didn’t return at all. He commented about being able to do everything possible with electrical except pay his electric bill- but he is rebuilding. He is a brilliant guy for sure but like most engineers he is a an absolutely horrific marketer. I hate to say it but he was his own worst enemy, it wasn’t the load pro.
@@matthewbrice737 Good point. Now that I think about it there is no easily replaceable fuse, but I suppose there might be one inside. Before using it, they recommend checking resistance across the leads every time, by just switching the MM to ohms, then pressing the switch, without touching leads together to be sure it reads 25 rather than OL. There's no way to tell otherwise that the device hasn't blown, giving false readings. I don't know what the power rating on that resistor is but it might fry like a fuse if subjected to higher than expected current or voltage, ha ha.
@@spelunkerd When pushing button, the 25 Ohm resistor at best (assuming even 15 volts) would create .6 ohms. I don’t see how that could fry it. But even if using leads on high amp starter circuit, when pushing the button the current flow is in parallel to high amp flow - that wouldn’t change how many amps flows through Loadpro. Only thing I suppose prolonged pushing of button on higher volt systems like 24 or 48 would overheat - but most cars are still non ev or hybrid. I’ve never seen Matt tackle either. My $.02.
Electrical nazis - I love it. Recently diagnosing a check engine light - no start - on a diesel van I had no less than 4 people (friends !!) of the owner challeging my diagnosis in trying to get to the problem. I diagnosed an injector, fuel and pump problem - possible water !!. In the end the owner had enough of the banter and "self made mechanics" . A friend said he can get the RAC out for free which he did. Fault was ADBLU in the fuel !!. Now its true I would not have thought of that which is a VERY BIG NO NO in diesel engines however it took the two RAC guys 2 hours+ to reach the same conclusion. Fuel contamination.
@@SchrodingersBox The injectors were showing dtc's and the fuel pump was running at a low pressure. A dealer has now replaced the fuel pump, filters, injectors and fuel lines but will not guarantee the repair as he believes there could be other engine damage. The owner is hoping to part ex the van for a new one when he gets it back. I have found several articles on the subject of adblu being put into the diesel tank and its effect on the fuel system and engine. Not good at all - very costly.
Much respect for you, I've learned many things from you. However, poking holes in insulation causes cancer in children in the third world, so I'd really stop doing that if I were you. Jokes aside, one thing that helped me with electrical as a mechanic was making test leads out of old wire harnesses, or, for the purist, terminal connectors purchased online. You can make breakouts this way, or just leads to plug or clip your DMM to easily with little possibility of shorts or opens. Very handy and worth time spent soldering a few together.
Yeah you learn way more from making your own stuff and then you really appreciate the commercial ways. And don’t worry about the 3rd world children- remember they get free access to my pay channel so they can go out peacefully and gracefully watching my videos. it warms my heart.

Switch and 25ohmn resister in parallel I knew about. But don’t think loadpro has a built in fuse(?)
Fuel contamination.
nice work. Just curious how you determined there was an injector, and pump problem when it was a fuel contamination problem?
@@SchrodingersBox The injectors were showing dtc's and the fuel pump was running at a low pressure. A dealer has now replaced the fuel pump, filters, injectors and fuel lines but will not guarantee the repair as he believes there could be other engine damage. The owner is hoping to part ex the van for a new one when he gets it back. I have found several articles on the subject of adblu being put into the diesel tank and its effect on the fuel system and engine. Not good at all - very costly.
Hope your new discs OEM:-)
Rotlfmao!!!!!! I got them from Oreilleys lol!!
Best tool is under ones hat .
… and belt lol.
Hey everyone does anyone have experience with OBD1?? Are there any obd2 scanners with obd1 connections or adapters??? Thanks
Every professional scanner I have purchased come with all the obd1 connectors. They just sit in the case unused in my case.
Ty is there an adapter I'm definitely not a professional just looking for DIY stuff
Yep what M PH said. also for OBD1 I usually just use a paper clip to flash codes.
@@SchrodingersBox I'm sorry I'm not understanding
@@mph5896 is there live data with OBD1???
The most important tool you have is your Brain.
Totally true!!!
