+Jose Hernadez What if you want something you can upgrade but not have to worry about every few years. Should I just get a ps4 or Xbox one like all my friends did or should I build a pc?
for me pc gaming isnt about framerates i got off console because I felt like i was stuck playing whatever these huge corporations fed me on a pc you are a free man
I feel like I'm stuck with Steam to get my games and I don't like 85-95% of the games they have to offer. I mostly buy fighting games when they're on sale other then that all my games are pretty much console exclusives which I prefer. I wish I liked the PC more because buying games and peripherals are cheaper and the graphics as well as frame-rate is better.
Yes I do but Steam is the primary place for consumers to buy their PC games. They monopolized PC gaming and have shitty customer service. You can't really go anywhere else to get "good games". The other alternative is Origins which has a couple of exclusives you can't get on Steam but for the most part I'm not interested in their small library. And yes there's tons of websites where you can buy games like G2A, CdKeys, ect... but still you are buying game keys which must be redeemed and used on the Steam Platform. And yes I know about GOG too and I much prefer their system to Steam only problem is their library is not as extensive as Steam. When I buy a game from GOG I feel good about owning the game and when I buy one from Steam it doesn't feel like ownership it feels more like a rental. If GOG ever shutsdown I still have my games backed up on my external hardrive DRM FREE!! If Steam closes too bad you lost your entire library backing up your games will do nothing.
man I really like your personality and down to earth attitude bro. I just subbed, and I'm in the same position you are because I console gamed for my whole childhood and teenage years. And I just started pc gaming, and I can really relate to your opinions.
What you're saying about PC gaming is actually very interesting. Yes PC gaming is Much more complicated than Console. but in exchange for that complexity you get flexibility, efficiency, and raw power. I'm assuming that you are on a Windows machine. And Windows is middle ground between Mac and Linux in terms of Power to Complexity spectrum when you talk operating systems. Mac is for people that want things to work out of the box and what I heard of that OS it is very close to the idea just working. Linux will make you its bi***. It is a fancy beast that will hammer you into a software engineer. Every problem you encounter with PCs will only happen to you once too. Once you solve it it will never bother you again. Also the way you use a PC will determine what kind of problems you will run into making you able to tweak your system to uniquely to you and you alone.
People also ignore the fact that a gaming PC also has the convenience of being a computer. You can do work on it, you can web browse, do your shopping on it, write documents and emails, watch movies on it, talk to friends on it, all without having to pay a single penny more than your ISP.
Me just over a year ago "Console is the best, it is for anybody and is fun, PC fanboys are really pathetic sweaty nerds" Me now "i want a new graphics card, which one should I get?"
+Kofi Plays Great video, watched it till the end. But, one thing I want to add is that your anger towards not being able to get the money's-worth performance out of your $4000 PC is not entirely justified. Although your PC is a beast no doubt, it has an extremely poor price to performance ratio. Many games have very poor SLI scaling, and it's well known. So, I think your second GPU is a complete waste of money _a lot of the times, that is._ Where it works makes a charm, but mostly I am not a fan of Sli, and if you want to complain about hardware price to performance gains, you should not have gone Sli in the first place. Also, generally for gaming, 1. 5820K+X99 is an overkill 2. 980 Sli isn't ideal 3. So on so forth *In all honesty, you will find that, in many games, your PC is only **_slightly_** (5%-10%) better than a ~$1000 USD PC with a i7/970 OC setup. More money does NOT necessarily translate to better **_proportional_** performance.* Also, what trouble did you have running ROTTR? I finished that game, and I ran into CPU-bound problems too. But, for the most part game ran just fine (locked 60 fps) if you turn down shadow quality a notch.
+Frisbie147 come on that's not always the case. I just bought Need For Speed on PC the other day and for some reason it wouldn't go to full screen mode when I launched it. Took some tinkering. I had to restart my PC and it launched properly from then. Things like this happen on PC. I been gaming on it long enough to know it just happens for some games. Takes more patience. And it can be complicated, definitely more so then a console. Look I was having a problem a week ago, my PC wouldn't boot properly all because my Dual Shock 4 was plugged in the usb! Something so basic I didn't realize that could lock up my PC when booting up. Once I removing it launched windows properly. Things like this happen with PC. It's not always super snappy. It definitely can be but not always. Plus I know you use steam. Just look at the community page forums. There always a lot of threads for people who are having problems and help for work arounds. It is what it is. PC takes more patience. But when everything is working it's amazing.
Finally somebody who took the initiative to assess the pro's and con's on a personal experience level. I particularly respect how you didn't make a lot of random shit up, like most people. P.S Shout out for watching until the end
This is a nice and open minded video about the whole pc gaming scene, and i specifically like the fact that you mentioned how you got in to it. The price and motivation behind your pc is a nice touch to clear thing up, IT is a beast of machine however the SLI may be an overkill. The reason behind that is many games have poor or no SLI scaling. That aside you did a really good job at pointing out some of the negatives and positives about the changes you experienced.
On the point of making old games work, you can buy from GOG.com, and almost be 100% sure that their games will work on your PC. And many of those are very old games.
I've so far gotten 57 games from Steam. waiting on last 3- RAGE, Terra tech, & Metro: 2033 Redux- to finish installing now, & haven't had the first problem running any of them. I love my PC so much I've only used my ps$ twice since I finished it. Havent used my xbone1 in forever- should have returned it right after I got it when I realized I was never going to use it... but oh well. P.S.----- Steam Summer Sale is quite properly THE SHIT!!! Can't wait for the winter sale now!
My pc boots in 5 seconds, fifa 16 takes about 2seconds to boot, and my xbox controller turns instantly, how's that less easy of use than a console?? even after i did all that a PS4/xbone would still be booting up PMSL
+BADBOYONE He's not just talking about boot times dude.. He's talking about questions of compatibility, little issues here and there.. For example, he can't get GTA 4 to work because Windows 10 doesn't support it without doing a rain dance. And even when games work perfectally, all the little details need to be fine tuned to each specific PC. But, on the flip side, I actually really like fine tuning those details, we PC gamers can choose high fps with less detail, or a bit lower fps with more lush detail.. Higher or lower resolution, etc.
this video really speaks out about the truth. and I enjoy your own personal style of ranting with humour and with honest opinions/facts. and it's not over hyped and annoyingly loud like most TH-cam videos. I really enjoyed it. subscribed.
This nigga here...kept it a 100! I was on the fence about buying a pc rig for gaming but I'm sold on your raw truthful experience man. You basically did what I wanted to do. You went out and bought the best rig at the time to see what the hype was about and shared it, you my friend have earned a sub. Not many will relate to your experience as a lot of comments will come from tech nerds but your video resonates with the real niggaz as you eloquently put it. Normally I would've fast forwarded through review videos but I watched to the end, hence why I took the time to write this long ass comment. Bless up and I hope your channels grow my G.
Such a fair review. Neither side is perfect. Holy crap you need to get yourself a friend in the US and meet you at the border with parts. Those prices hurt! Those are higher than what my friends in Norway pay. How can you not watch to the end
I think you may be a little overwhelmed with PC gaming due to the amount you spent. You get little in return for as much as you spend. I have a gtx 970 build and love it. Some problems come up during PC gaming, but I also had a record number of problems with my ps4, which led me to say, "might as well have a PC I guess," and I never looked back.
Excellent comparison between PC and Console gaming. The information was presented well in a format that made direct comparisons. Great job! I think people from both communities should watch this.
this is the perfect example of the difference between these platforms, the consoles offer less performance, but they are 100% plug and play, easy as can be, and a lot of people like that (the vast majority of people), while on pc you do get more performance, but it takes some tweaking, it is the tinkerers platform if you just want easy gaming, plop in a game and play it, go with a console. if you want cheaper games and you are willing to tinker a bit to get them going ( or if you are like me and actually enjoy the proces of tweaking things ), but get significantly better performance after (if you pc isn't shit), go with pc
of course. consoles are dedicated gaming platform. but pc is mainly for development works. so it bound to have problems like that. we have to accept it as it is.

+sjoerd laan by saying its for development i didn't met to say for gave development. Sorry for the messed up words. what i really intended that the goal behind making a coputer. its for work. other things came much later with increasing technology.

I have been doing this for over 20 years, sometimes it is frustrating, but for the most part its the greatest experience you will ever have. Have a great time with it, that's what its there for.
I'm moving from console to pc, I'm building my first build this weekend I'm just waiting for my case to get here Saturday, I also have a lot experience with pc because I've been playing smaller games on my laptop which is really bad, but I can't wait to be playing with 60-120fps or even more depending what game I'll be running settings but other then that i can't wait! Also I moved from playing PS4,PS3 ,and Xbox 360
Can i play ALL games 60 fps on 1080p wuth this build Intel Core i5 6600k OC 3.9 ghz Cooler Master 212 evo 8gb ram Gigebyte geforce gtx 1060 6gb EVGA 600B 1tb hard drive Corsaie Spec Alpha Case
Invincible Ignorant really? It doesn't take a half wit to know that the 1060 won't achieve a locked 60 fps at Max ultra 1440p setting. And I know damn well that at 4k you won't even get 60 fps at maybe medium settings. A normal person with common sense can find that out easily. Im not a normal person and I've been looking into a pc build similar to yours. I have looked up all I need with the 1060 and I know for a fact that achieving those frame rates at 1440p at ultra setting and 4k isn't gonna happen. So how about you take your useless unwanted opinion somewhere else.
Lelan Odom "opinion" i literally have it how are you gonna tell me. And i never said maxed out or even stable 60 fps. It depends on the game dipshit. Not every game runs the same.
This is one of the most sincere opinions I've heard about pc vs console. Only thing I would add is that for those games that do not run out of the box on pc or old games there's a site : pc gaming wiki. It's a wiki all dedicated to pc gaming fixes, really easy to use. When I want to buy a game I always go to that page first to check if it's a poor port. The first couple of months it may be annoying but then it becomes second nature.
I just jumped ship to pc and to you the truth I ain't touching a console again maybe when horizon comes out on January or maybe not I'm not missing out alot pc is just the better platform overall it's no comparison
I watched until the ending :). I enjoyed listening to your POV on the subject matter between PCs and Consoles and agree with your points as they were in fact very true as you promised in the title. Great video, earned a sub.
MARIO !!!! it can also not give you a brain so I hoop you don't sufer to mutch from your cancer to bad it it also did make sure you loos comen sense like that some people are dislectic like me
earned yourself a sub. I'm a new pc gamer. had my pc around 3 months now. got a pretty good set up also. spent over £2000 on mine now. keep up the great content
Hey Man I totally agree with your Opinion :) Your not as biased as many TH-camrs I've watched. You look at both sides calmly and without pulling down one Side. That's great from you. Just keep going on like that. Really an honest and best Video on the PC vs Console War. Just wanted to say that.
Real talk PC gaming can be complex and annoying I love PC but its not flawless, say for example you modding sometime your mods don't work game crash its annoying as fuck. Sometime games wont work you gotta mod a ini file etc, its easy but at times you just like man really. Playing on FPS or fast paced games you need nice gear Ie( good keyboard and mouse) or you will get crushed. Windows 10 like you talked about can be annoying as at times it be buggy as hell. PC is awesome if you have patience and take the time to tinker with it, but not everyone wants to do that when they come homme.
Just like you when I first went to PC gaming there was, a lot of stuff i had to figure out, nobody me told all the little things you need to know. Its way harder aswell to meet like minded PC players, many are entitled snobs who love to flash their hardware or nitpick. I notice also many PC players refuse to badmouth PC anyone who does is a traitor. When most console players first go PC they probably get frustrated because no one told them everything. Thats where alot PC myths and bad press come from I feel
Yeah man, that's why I wanted to make this video. Inform people it's not as simplistic like how a lot of PC players make it seem. Unlike a console there is a learning curve.
To be fair, if you're familiar with Windows, even just a bit, it's not complicated at all. I agree that building is not as easy as it sounds, it takes a lot of thought and consideration. But that's what pre-builts are for.
+1998aman what? What 980 are they charging that much for? Im Canadian as well.. the 980 goes for around 700 here, can be more depending on the model but ive never seen 850. NCIX is definitely higher prices than newegg canada though. ALthough they do have pricematch. I bought my acer x34 monitor from NCIX.
+Mitchell Hall It is an MSI 980; I went to the NCIX in surrey and when I asked them about why it was so expensive, they stated "it's the best card on the market" -.- they had a 750 ti for $200 !!! it's ridiculous man
It sounds like the majority of your problems come from using windows 10. I have windows 7 installed and run all GTA titles without issue. Using a mid grade GPU and a 4 core CPU. My total spend was less than $400.00.
Fantastic video - I myself am primarily a console gamer but I occasionally play on PC from time to time when the time allows. As you said it's all got its pros and cons and at the end of the day, it's just down to personal preference.
Imabitch I'd switch to Linux in a flash if it supported gaming properly and as much software as windows. instead my desktop runs windows 10 however I use Linux in virtual machines.
GTA IV is in general a terrible port. I think the headache is worth it though. I would rather have the old games there and be able to trouble shoot it rather than not have it there at all.
Nice points man, very true. Saw the entire video and had been playing for around 18 years on PC, the points you covered are pretty essentials. Nice video. Regards!
Thumbs up sir :-) ... Thanks for this video... I've been a "PC fan-boy" for too many decades but I like how you've spent your own cash and your own time on this as there is no reason people should complain unless they checkout both for themselves :-) This is your first PC? Forget people complaining about "you chose the wrong part" as it's never easy and you've done what you can with Canadian prices :-)
The first point is kind of stupid because it is all personal experience, you could have the worste luck with the pc and best with the console but it could be the other way around with someone else. Like for me the consoles have been way more difficult than my pc.
PRESS START KOFI When I played on console an update came out. It literally could not update. I spent 10 days searching around how to fix it. I finally figured out that I had to download the update files on pc put them on a flash drive and plug it into my console to get it to update.
That sounds like a special case. On my PS4, I just leave it on rest mode and it updates anything new overnight. I love this feature because I don't even think about it.
PC is a lot more customizable so naturally for most people it will give them more problems. Also if you get an issue on console a lot of the time you wait for Microsoft or Sony for a fix whereas on PC you're on your own and this can be good or bad depending how quick you fix your issue.
980s were the best GPUs on the market when he built his PC. A single 980 will still max anything out at 1080p and my 980 works great on 1440p (although I am upgrading to a 1080 and putting my 980 in a different build.)
Damn it, I wanted this to be, like, the opposite of what it was. I'm glad to hear you talking real shit, man, really. I hope you're enjoying the game on PC.
Your intro had a lot of promise, then your very first pro/con was flat out bullshit. Consoles have network outages and OS errors too. Not bothering to watch the rest.
YOU SPEAK THE TRUTH! I personally prefer PC, but all of your points are completely valid. Although I enjoy the complexity of PC since it is a hobby of mine, I can see why some would not like it. Thanks for such a great video and 1 new sub here.
You get out what you put in. Yes, PC gaming takes more effort, more research, more work sometimes to get things working right but once things are working there is literally no competition if you have a high end build, the experience can be mind blowing.
This is a really interesting video. I have not gamed on a PC yet as I like the convenience of consoles, but I have been considering migrating. But by the sound of it, I'm still not ready for PC gaming. Or PC gaming isn't ready for me. ☺
MrSonicAdvance PC is about freedom of customization. You can set it up to how ever you want it to be. Consoles are basically a PC with proprietary hardware and OS but it is based on the same technology that PC has. You cam customize your PC to be like a console if you are inclined to it. What kind of convenience are you referring to that the console has that PC doesn't? I'm curious :)
Respect for this video. Not that I agree with everything like getting every game working, but having to do some research to fix some games only last the first couple years of PC gaming. Stick with PC gaming and you will be fixing any problem you have in a snap.
PIKACHU!!!!! XD :) thanks for the great video Kofi respect bro for being real. I was going to build a gaming PC but after watching your video I'm going to stick to consoles for now.
I totally agree with your points. One thing I would add is that while it is nice, it isn't necessary to spend that kind of cash to get really nice performance. While PC gaming is more expensive than console you don't have to go all out like you did. Which brings me to another point about choice and options on PC versus console.
hey man just wanted to say great video! (apologize in advance for the long ass coment lol) I actually am in a pretty similar place as you. Ive been a diehard gamer for my whole life but was strictly console and a friend of mine would nag me and tell me that im missing out so badly especially with how into gaming that I am and after so long I decided to say screw it and see what I had been missing. This was when the 980 very first launched as well haha... So I decided, if I was going to try PC gaming out, I wanted it to do something that my console could definitely NOT do. So I built my PC with 4k gaming in mind. I ended up going with a 4790k/16GB corsair dominator platnium ram and SLI gtx 980's just like you! At first I used a 40 inch LG 4k TV, and man once I built my PC and started learning about hardware and got into gaming on PC i was absolutely instantly hooked. I literally learned more in a year then some people do in 10 and Im not even exagerating.. Anyway I ended up buying Acers first 28 inch 4k G-sync monitor when that came out and enjoyed that for a while... Being me, I wasnt satisfied lol and back in the summer I sold my 980s and upgraded to SLI titanX Hybrids and then in December I picked up the new acer predator X34.. the curved ultra wide 3440x1440 100hz monitor. its such an incredible experience man.... Anyway since all that Ive gotten afew of my friends into PC gaming as well lol Im actually building one of my good buddies his first PC this week. I sold him my 4790k/motherboard/ram and power supply and Im upgrading to skylake 6700K. really looking forward to doing both his and my build. Actually if you check my google+ account I just took a pic of all the hardware ready to be put together :D Sorry for the big reply, I just really enjoyed the video and I found we had a lot in common, also on the subject about backwards compatibility and things not working right away like on console, youre totally right not EVERYTHING will work perfectly with all hardware combinations etc but the amazing thing Ive learned about PCs and PC gaming is that the community can be amazing and people are ALWAYS looking for work arounds and fixes to problems. If youre having an issue with a certain game, you can be damn sure someone else has had the problem as well and 9.999 times out of 10 as long as you are decent at troubleshooting and know your way around your PC, you can fix your problem... Thats what I love about PC gaming.... But its definitely not for everybody. I love it because I can tailor my experience to my exact likings and now with me playing at 21:9 for the small amount of games that dont support it natively, Ive been able to get a work around for every single game Ive tried. Im actually currently playing dark souls 2 scholar of the first sin in ultrawide and its freaking gorgeous!
+Mitchell Hall read every word lol. Crazy how our experiences are practically the same. I recently picked up a Acer 1440p 144hz Gsync monitor. I'm loving it!
Kofi Plays sick! My friend just recently did as well. He got the predator one that over clocks to 165hz. I told him to just get the previous model but he was going all out he picked up 2 980ti classifieds so he went with the new one. Either way tho sick monitor bro
+Kofi Plays isnt G-sync fuckin great? Haha I love it man. Im happy with the trade off for the ultrawide. losing 44hz but gaining the extra field of view. Movies look pretty incredible in 21:9 as well... Anyway dude you def got a new sub in me, im gonna be checkin out your other videos for sure. Just noticed you made a rant about the gears of war release... Lol fuckin microsoft eh. All the talk about getting back into PC gaming, and this is how they make their first impression.. SMH. I refunded my copy like the next day... but Ive heard they just released a pretty hefty patch and official 21:9 support... I might have to check it out. If Quantum Break ends up being optimized in the least lol.
Great Video. I've been a PC gamer since 1995...............Loved every year of it, but man I've had some fustrations over the years! haha!. worth it though. thats part of it too, learning and being able to fix things yourself. unless its the developers fault. thats sucks. Subscribed.
I just switched over to PC. Wasn't trying to build a gaming PC, it is for music production, just wanted the ability to play games on it. I have a quad core i7 running at 4ghz, 64gb ddr4 ram, GTX1060, liquid cooled, 256gb SSD, 1tb hard drive for sample libraries, 1tb hard drive for recording. Downloaded Fallout 4 and Half Life 2 from Steam. I can't believe how good they look! The fast loading times. I have had a PS4, PS3, PS1, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Xbox, Gamecube, Saturn, Dreamcast, Vita, PSP, SNES, NES, Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, Game Gear, Game Boy, Atari 2600. Have been a console gamer my entire life, never again.
Coming from a PC gamer - Games for Windows Live is a Pain in the arse! You're best to set up a local account rather than using a Windows Live / Microsoft ID. Also unoptimsed ports are terrible because lazy developers. But higher frame rates are great and I have yet to find a control method to beat a keyboard and mouse. You, sir are a legend. Keep it up!
I'm watching your video, and as a PC Gamer, I just want to talk about the points you made in the video. 1 - PCs are complicated That depends. I mean, installing drivers and all that stuff does not only apply to gaming, and nowadays must people use a PC for something so at least they gotta to know how to do that or ask someone. If you're talking about vanilla gaming, imo it's as easy as in consoles, just use Steam, GoG, Origin, etc and you're in. And installing mods for some games can get really tricky, but those are not necessary. So my final point regarding this is that getting started with PC Gaming can be a little bit tricky. But you're also getting some basic knowledge about PCs, and that can't hurt. 2 - Comfortability while gaming on PC Totally agree, you can hook up the PC to a TV and play from the couch with a controller, or have it on a desk and play it with M+KB. And that little work you were talking about it's just the first time setup, after that is smooth sailing. 3 - Backward compatibility Personally, never had any problems, except with GTA IV which is a total shit port. Another than that, any issue I had was fixed quickly with some solution I googled up. Maybe it's just me, but I don't find it annoying to give 5 minutes of my time to get a game up and running. It's just the first time setup, and I prefer to have the option to be able to play those games that not being able to play those at all. Searching in foruns and reddit can be scary at first, but once you get used to it it's not really something you'll give much thought. It's like "Oh Fallout 1 it's not working on Windows 10, let me just go to /r/fallout and see what the wiki says about that. Oh here's the fix, nice. Download, install, play it". I agree with you that some games are not "plug and play", but for 99% of them there is an easy fix that takes less than 5 minutes. But yeah, GTA IV is probably the worst PC port ever. 4 - Price & performance Bro, I bought Witcher 3 for 25€. I gave Tomb Raider 2013 to a friend and it costed me 1$. On PC, games get really cheap. I can only play at 60fps, since it's my monitor refresh rate, and if I can't play comfortable without steady 60fps. 60 fps should be a standard on any platform by now. 5 - Bad ports Unfortunately those are a reality. Most games are decent ports, but some are just fucking awful. Looking at you GTA IV. But, although those games should run fine, most of them get updates, if not a community update.
Well done on your video, I agree with you !! I've never been a console gamer, but I agree with everything you mentioned. With SSDs (solid State Drives) I can be gaming in just about the same speed as a console, Steam Big Picture gives a console like exprrience. My opinions is that owning and gaming on a PC is much cheaper over the long run. Games I bought on Steam in 2005 (Half Life 2) still runs, hell even the original Half Life still runs. Some game genres just doesn't translate well onto a console for example Cities Skylines, Grand Strategy, Empire Builing, Realistic flight and soldiers sims like Arma 3 and DIgital Combat Simulator etc.
seen many videos on this topic. but this one is the best. because you are complete honest. and abut the broken ports. some devs don't give much shit about pc gaming. there are are some strong reasons for that but I've seen many gamers end up buying games insted of pireting them and many most of them came to know about gaming by those pirated games. piracy is definitely not a good thing but it actually increases the sell. so lets hope for the best that they will optimize new games well before release. you are awesome.
I was expecting to see console peasant quotes here but you did well not to do so lol. Great video by the way. I have been PC gaming/building since early 90s so it's safe to say I've seen few things from it. In the PC, there are different tiers of PC users. They are entry, casual, and enthusiast level. Each level increases in price and difficulties to maintain. I am surprised to see that you went into PC straight into enthusiast level. I would never recommend anyone do this at all lol. Not only does this cost so much to get into PC, the whole point of view PC gaming will be skewed leaving you more room for dissatisfaction. But my props to you for sticking with it. I myself got roughly around the same build but I opted into Gigabyte 980ti SLI. I needed these power house of GPU to drive my triple monitor setup. I found myself wanting to be fully surrounded and immersed visually rather than higher refresh rate. I play simulator games such as racing and elite dangerous so that merited my decision. You brought an interest point about disappointment on underwhelming game performance. I too feel that way on the poorly made games which I seldom admit but at the same time, I learned to be more savvy in the future by waiting for performance reviews and avoiding preorders.
H Koizumi Also, I forgot to mention, you did go over the issue with backwards compatibility issue. I feel your pain but I do not think it's fair to pin this as a con to PC. I think this falls into learning curve for PC operation regarding direct X. For me, it is expected to go into ini file to alter the aspect ratio or having a proper dosbox available.
I got a gaming PC a few months ago and now I only use my consoles for exclusives or to play multiplayer with my friends that game on console. For consoles, I do my research and buy the one that runs the best between XB1 and PS4. For single player games, if it's ported over with no issues, I get it on PC. Glad I got a gaming PC.
Hey man, I really liked the video and you made some really good points but just wanted to mention a couple things you should also mention. I'm not sure about everywhere in the world but often you can build a pc for the same price as a console that performs BETTER than a console. This has been shown many times over but it is a good point. Also, when buying older games you're probably better off buying them from gog.com They are DRM Free and i've heard they do something to make sure old games run on newer systems. One more worthwhile point to bring up when talking about price of games, are bundle sites humblebundle, indiegala, and bundlestars. Most of my just shy of 700 game steam library have come from bundles and bundles are always super cheap. Other than that, great video. I really like that you're not saying console gamers don't have their place in the market. There IS and really NEEDS to be room for both PC and Console gamers. Without consoles we end up with a market where the games may look pretty and run better but are less accessible to new gamers and as pc gamers age the market then would shrink and eventually die off. Consoles are a great starting point for gaming but if you want to game seriously, build a pc. Even if it's just a $500 one, you will not regret it.
If you already have a decent desktop computer there is a good chance that you can upgrade the power supply, video card and maybe add an extra cooling fan which will elevate you to PC master race status almost instantly. $70 on the power supply, $300+ on the video card and $17 on the glowing LED lit, transparent, brushless ultra glide bearing, chrome frame, zebra stripe painted, jet turbine blade wow holy shit this is fancy fan!
You missed the number one thing in a lot of games, MODS.
And not the bad ones. Unlike console gamers.
+NiceDeerGunner stuff that actually adds content. not the God mode bs on cod
I agree, that's what pushed me to switch to go PC gaming and also better frame rates too.
+Jose Hernadez What if you want something you can upgrade but not have to worry about every few years. Should I just get a ps4 or Xbox one like all my friends did or should I build a pc?
+NiceDeerGunner you cant upgrade the consoles, so if that's important to you than it's a factor
for me pc gaming isnt about framerates i got off console because I felt like i was stuck playing whatever these huge corporations fed me on a pc you are a free man
cperdok so true
cperdok what do you mean free I was switching to pc gaming soon and your comment caught my attention
TechnicolorSprite u do know steam is not the only place to get games right?
Look at youngin Kofi. All new to PC gaming, lookin like a wide eyed kid that just got a new toy. Man the time flies.
As a PC-only gamer, i agree on everything, nice to hear an unbiased opinion. You've got yourself a new subscriber.
the truth is console games are made on PC...... there ya go
So what you can watch it on PC also.
TH-cam is made on PC. So what?
And that "coding" is done on PC's I guess?
XD
yea but most part there are more on consoles always have been, unless its some FPS, RTS, MMOs
You can do work on it, you can web browse, do your shopping on it, write documents and emails, watch movies on it, talk to friends on it, all without having to pay a single penny more than your ISP.
haven't played on a PC in years but fucking around with this generation of consoles makes me really want to go back
Me just over a year ago
"Console is the best, it is for anybody and is fun, PC fanboys are really pathetic sweaty nerds"
Me now "i want a new graphics card, which one should I get?"
British Traditionalist what is your budget ? m8
British Traditionalist Just go on eBay and find an HD 5850 upgrade the PSU if necessary and you are good to go!
But you can't see over 2 1/2 frames
+Abraham Ortiz low fps is more cinematic anyway. The less the better.
+MiDnYTe25 the lesser the slower

+Kofi Plays Dam..thats beastly
Also, generally for gaming,
1. 5820K+X99 is an overkill
2. 980 Sli isn't ideal
3. So on so forth
*In all honesty, you will find that, in many games, your PC is only **_slightly_** (5%-10%) better than a ~$1000 USD PC with a i7/970 OC setup. More money does NOT necessarily translate to better **_proportional_** performance.*
Also, what trouble did you have running ROTTR? I finished that game, and I ran into CPU-bound problems too. But, for the most part game ran just fine (locked 60 fps) if you turn down shadow quality a notch.
+Kofi Plays what do you mean its complicated? you click a button and the game launches
+Kofi Plays if you want to play older games either use compatability mode windows 7 or xp if its that old
+Frisbie147 come on that's not always the case.
But when everything is working it's amazing.
hey this is a great video you handle this calmly and respectively, thank you, the gaming community needs more people like you.
And many of those are very old games.
nope..i bought rayman 3 from them last week....resolution doesnt even go up to 1080p... xbox 360 controller not supported.
pinkrudy use control mapper, bud, you can map your own controller. :)
Higher or lower resolution, etc.
this video really speaks out about the truth. and I enjoy your own personal style of ranting with humour and with honest opinions/facts. and
it's not over hyped and annoyingly loud like most TH-cam videos. I really enjoyed it. subscribed.
steam sales , worth waiting for
Aiman Hafeez
Worth growing grey hairs for...
+Max Risse really appreciate you taking the time to comment and watch bro.
Im a PC-Masterracer but i agree with that guy.
same
totally agree man, it's all about what you prefer. There are pros and cons for both no matter what you choose. Loved this vid man. Keep it up
Such a fair review. Neither side is perfect. Holy crap you need to get yourself a friend in the US and meet you at the border with parts. Those prices hurt! Those are higher than what my friends in Norway pay. How can you not watch to the end
Chris Rodenbeck im norwegian lol
Excellent unbiased overview for both sides. You've more than earned yourself a sub, sir.
Great job!
I think people from both communities should watch this.
this is the perfect example of the difference between these platforms, the consoles offer less performance, but they are 100% plug and play, easy as can be, and a lot of people like that (the vast majority of people), while on pc you do get more performance, but it takes some tweaking, it is the tinkerers platform
if you just want easy gaming, plop in a game and play it, go with a console.
if you want cheaper games and you are willing to tinker a bit to get them going ( or if you are like me and actually enjoy the proces of tweaking things ), but get significantly better performance after (if you pc isn't shit), go with pc
of course. consoles are dedicated gaming platform. but pc is mainly for development works. so it bound to have problems like that. we have to accept it as it is.
of course. consoles are dedicated gaming platform. but pc is mainly for development works. so it bound to have problems like that. we have to accept it as it is.
it isn't mainly for development works, It can be used for it, but 99% of gaming systems will never be used for game development
+sjoerd laan by saying its for development i didn't met to say for gave development. Sorry for the messed up words. what i really intended that the goal behind making a coputer. its for work. other things came much later with increasing technology.

Man, I just love how you speak. It was pleasure to listen to this video.
Awesome video! I watched to the end btw xD
Lol thanks.
+Kofi Plays me to :3
As a PC Gamer and Console Gamer I must say "GOOD VIDEO SR" all true no bs, you got a new sub here, keep up the good work
niiiiice intro music! is that ness or the ice climbers?
+super117knight ness. I produced the beat. Full version is on my channel. It's called Super Nintendo
PRESS START KOFI daaaaamn thats that fire tho!
Kiro RotMG yea used to play on console then got a laptop and loved gaming on it so built a pc

Invincible Easily. Even at 1440p
Invincible yes you can but what the other guy said is untrue
Lelan Odom Nope. i have the same build and i run MANY games at 1440p and even some at 4k. Shut your ignorant ass up.
Sagrotan PC is a really great system for couch coop
A lot, not "alot"
I watched until the ending :). I enjoyed listening to your POV on the subject matter between PCs and Consoles and agree with your points as they were in fact very true as you promised in the title. Great video, earned a sub.
tip get your old games on sites like GOG day make sure the games are working on the new software like windose 10
Edison Trent Can GOG fix your Cancer Inducing grammar? No.
MARIO !!!! it can also not give you a brain so I hoop you don't sufer to mutch from your cancer to bad it it also did make sure you loos comen sense like that some people are dislectic like me
It's nice to see that some people can see the good and the bad of both platforms, kudos to you PRESS START KOFI 😁.
144+ fps squad?
earned yourself a sub. I'm a new pc gamer. had my pc around 3 months now. got a pretty good set up also. spent over £2000 on mine now. keep up the great content
gta 4 was recently patched for windows10
and if a game doesnt work u can refund it as long as you have bought it in the last 14 days and havent played more than 2 hours
Marios Rouggeris still games like fallout 3 still runs like shit and crashes cause of Multicore CPUs
there are mods that fix these problems
There is no mod for multicore errors
***** it does not steam Forums are full With complaints towards Bethesda
Dropping knowledge. Facts
+ThePatrioticRussianSeal the point about mods invalid until you can mod console games and see the outcome (console games would crash too)
To be fair, if you're familiar with Windows, even just a bit, it's not complicated at all. I agree that building is not as easy as it sounds, it takes a lot of thought and consideration. But that's what pre-builts are for.
Straight up bro ! Canadian prices are wacked tf out, especially in Vancouver :( NCIX sells a gtx 980 for $850 still
+1998aman what? What 980 are they charging that much for? Im Canadian as well.. the 980 goes for around 700 here, can be more depending on the model but ive never seen 850. NCIX is definitely higher prices than newegg canada though. ALthough they do have pricematch.
I bought my acer x34 monitor from NCIX.
+Mitchell Hall It is an MSI 980; I went to the NCIX in surrey and when I asked them about why it was so expensive, they stated "it's the best card on the market" -.- they had a 750 ti for $200 !!! it's ridiculous man
1998aman bahahah really? Ugh nothing worse than a person working in a tech shop who's completely ignorant about tech.
+Mitchell Hall tell me about it bro; makes no sense why they selling outdated hardware for such outrageous prices... kinda reminds me of apple
It sounds like the majority of your problems come from using windows 10. I have windows 7 installed and run all GTA titles without issue. Using a mid grade GPU and a 4 core CPU. My total spend was less than $400.00.
just out of curiousity does windows 10 run games like rome total war
+kieran simpson Yea
yes the only reason you would have problems with backwards compatibility is if you updated to a newer os.
Fantastic video - I myself am primarily a console gamer but I occasionally play on PC from time to time when the time allows. As you said it's all got its pros and cons and at the end of the day, it's just down to personal preference.
windows - hard? you should look at linux
Imabitch Linux is scary
i play on linux and now ? XD
Imabitch I'd switch to Linux in a flash if it supported gaming properly and as much software as windows. instead my desktop runs windows 10 however I use Linux in virtual machines.
Compared to macOS - Windows is a mess.
Ayyy you got your 20 likes man congrats. ^_^
Enjoyed the video keep it up.
Nice video.
Regards!
So true man.
Thumbs up sir :-) ... Thanks for this video... I've been a "PC fan-boy" for too many decades but I like how you've spent your own cash and your own time on this as there is no reason people should complain unless they checkout both for themselves :-)
This is your first PC? Forget people complaining about "you chose the wrong part" as it's never easy and you've done what you can with Canadian prices :-)
The first point is kind of stupid because it is all personal experience, you could have the worste luck with the pc and best with the console but it could be the other way around with someone else. Like for me the consoles have been way more difficult than my pc.
lol curious, what problems have you faced with your console that has made it "way more difficult"
PRESS START KOFI When I played on console an update came out. It literally could not update. I spent 10 days searching around how to fix it. I finally figured out that I had to download the update files on pc put them on a flash drive and plug it into my console to get it to update.
***** basically
That sounds like a special case. On my PS4, I just leave it on rest mode and it updates anything new overnight. I love this feature because I don't even think about it.
PC is a lot more customizable so naturally for most people it will give them more problems. Also if you get an issue on console a lot of the time you wait for Microsoft or Sony for a fix whereas on PC you're on your own and this can be good or bad depending how quick you fix your issue.
Welcome to the pc community mate. I hope you stay for a long time
lol sorry you don't have the best of the best.
at the time nearly
980s were the best GPUs on the market when he built his PC. A single 980 will still max anything out at 1080p and my 980 works great on 1440p (although I am upgrading to a 1080 and putting my 980 in a different build.)
but a 980 costs 300 dollars, not 759$ like in the video
AMV12S back then it was a lot more expensive also he said its Canada you idiot prices different
Never had that problem with my SNES.
cj694x2 nigga
That's about what mine cost before I watercooled it. Dig the unbiased video, man.
Hey Kofi, solid video; Thanks for the perspective.
Very nice and honest video! I congratulate you and thanks!
I'm curious :)
eyy I watched it all. Fun to hear about your transition.
Respect for this video. Not that I agree with everything like getting every game working, but having to do some research to fix some games only last the first couple years of PC gaming. Stick with PC gaming and you will be fixing any problem you have in a snap.
I like pc gaming more but an nintendo 3ds is good too because of pokemon and the Zelda! That pikachu plushie in the back is really cool!
+Jerry R yeah I wanted to go all out. But you don't have to. I just wanted to max everything out with at least 80+ fps
+Kofi Plays Sure, I understand. I just wanted to make the point because one of the things people say about PC gaming is it is crazy expensive.
just came across you channel Kofi and i like it, keep it up!
hey man just wanted to say great video!
Actually if you check my google+ account I just took a pic of all the hardware ready to be put together :D
Sorry for the big reply, I just really enjoyed the video and I found we had a lot in common, also on the subject about backwards compatibility and things not working right away like on console, youre totally right not EVERYTHING will work perfectly with all hardware combinations etc but the amazing thing Ive learned about PCs and PC gaming is that the community can be amazing and people are ALWAYS looking for work arounds and fixes to problems.
Great video Kofi! Stick to single GPU setups my dude. Game on!!!
I loved this video man, you got a new sub!
Great Video. I've been a PC gamer since 1995...............Loved every year of it, but man I've had some fustrations over the years! haha!. worth it though. thats part of it too, learning and being able to fix things yourself. unless its the developers fault. thats sucks. Subscribed.
Wached it till the end, nice vid m8 :)
My mans kofi. I'm bout to make a ryzen 5 build bruh. Great vid.
watched to the end and like. this was real talk
Awesome video Kofi, I wanna get into PC gaming I just haven't made the jump yet.
Keep it up!
I'm new to pc gaming from being a very long time console gamer. I love console and pc alike and both are amazing machines
I'm watching your video, and as a PC Gamer, I just want to talk about the points you made in the video.
1 - PCs are complicated
That depends.
2 - Comfortability while gaming on PC
Totally agree, you can hook up the PC to a TV and play from the couch with a controller, or have it on a desk and play it with M+KB. And that little work you were talking about it's just the first time setup, after that is smooth sailing.
3 - Backward compatibility
Personally, never had any problems, except with GTA IV which is a total shit port.
4 - Price & performance
Bro, I bought Witcher 3 for 25€. I gave Tomb Raider 2013 to a friend and it costed me 1$. On PC, games get really cheap.
I can only play at 60fps, since it's my monitor refresh rate, and if I can't play comfortable without steady 60fps. 60 fps should be a standard on any platform by now.
5 - Bad ports
Unfortunately those are a reality. Most games are decent ports, but some are just fucking awful. Looking at you GTA IV. But, although those games should run fine, most of them get updates, if not a community update.
Cool vid and a really nice guy. Lot of old games don't work very well with W10, better to stay with W7 for now really.
watched the whole thing man !!! im still getting my PC
this guy is a comedian! lol Nice video though "subscribed"!
i watch it all.. good video, very honest.
Watched it til the end! Good vid.
I've watched it to the end, man!
Good video :) Just subbed!
Pfffhaha! My Ontarian brother (tdot, btown, or sauga haha just my guess)! Subscribed!! I feel you on that OSAP though... XD
This is the best "Comparison" Video i've ever seen because it's very neutral
Watched till the end btw ;)
You earned that Subscription
If you already have a decent desktop computer there is a good chance that you can upgrade the power supply, video card and maybe add an extra cooling fan which will elevate you to PC master race status almost instantly. $70 on the power supply, $300+ on the video card and $17 on the glowing LED lit, transparent, brushless ultra glide bearing, chrome frame, zebra stripe painted, jet turbine blade wow holy shit this is fancy fan!
Finally someone who understands video cards in CA prices fucking hell its crazy!
Great video! Watched till the end
i love dis dude
