I am extremely mad that I handed an injured black shouldered kite juvenile, with endorsement from WIRES, to a vet. It only had a broken wing and i could have set and trated the wing myself. They euthenaised it the next day of course. It was extremely healthy, drinking and chirping and so on. Wished I'd given him to an organisation like this instead.
Not good. We rescued an injured hawk on our property and the lovely guy from WIRES made it clear that if he couldn’t rehabilitate the hawk it would be taken to the raptor centre in Victoria. The following weekend he returned to the property with the hawk because it’s mate was still with us. It worked out really well and the pair of hawks would often fly around the house
