- PPZ production presents: Jazz from Gallus Hall (Slovenia) 2017
Ljubljana Academy of Music Big Band is one of the best jazz youth group, under the baton of charismatic leader Matej Hotko. In the year 2017 (December) I invited them again on my elite Jazz from Gallus Hall series production set. They play with technical brilliance along with splendid musicality and poetry. These guys are worth all of our attention. I recorded them along with 14 different cameras. Half of it was motion picture quality with cinematic prime lenses. I hope, you will enjoy this jewel of recording and play.

The beat is making my table shake. The bass player's vibrations just turned on my car engine, and startled airplane pilots overhead are radioing for premature landing instructions for airports 3,000 miles away. The sun just came up six hours early and my morning newspaper has the news of what will occur three weeks from now. Such are the sustained, inexplicable and dazzling effects of the Ljubljana Academy of Music!
Thats how it should be. Everyone playing together with passion and expression. Thats how it comes out.

DAMN Y'ALL!!! This is just stunning!!! This is killing it! Can't wait to hear more. Y'all jazz it up as well as any USA group of the Big Band Era. MORE!! I want MORE!!!
Stunned!! The sound quality is amazing. You could teach some of the bigger producers a thing or two about getting crisp, dynamic audio with minimum distortion, out into the digital media market.
On second listen, the technical ability of the musicians exceeds many of the big names of jazz from the so called golden age of the 1950's through the 1970's. No lazy playing here, there is a striving drive to exceed their own personal best within each musician.
On third listen, the exuberance of life necessary for really good jazz just boils out of the performance.
Man, that drummer, Mr.??, has Daniel Glass level skills.

Interesting. Waaaay faster than Goodwin's take on it. Growing on me a little.....Not overly fond of the overly-laid back take on some of the head. Sax shout is a tad restrained. Overall, a heckuva track.
And while you are at it might as well Take Five too...I think you guys could play just about any thing you put your minds to...
