Something death battle forgot to mention: meta is easily distracted by other a.i. units. He's always wanting more power, and when one is in sight, he'll drop what he's doing just to get it; like the time in vahalla when he was about to kill the red team but then didn't because church/epsilon came by and started chasing him. And it was THIS flaw of distraction that cost him the fight.
See I get that, but I still think that while he would definitely get distracted at times, his sheer power(Armor enhancements, strength, and endurance) would have overwhelmed Carolina. I feel like, in this fight, they underused his enhancements. He didn't push his invisibility for very long and only used it once, he could have done more damage when hitting Carolina while using the temporal distortion unit, and he could have fired out from his bubble shield like North did(Also remember that grenades being fired are significantly slower than bullets from a sniper rifle, so even if he was multitasking one or two AI could handle that easily.)
And while yes, his power drains quickly, he would only need to keep one of them up for a few minutes and the fight would be done. If he pushed his temporal distortion from the start and did more than just hit her in the chest with the knifle, I feel he could have won very easily since there wouldn't be too much Carolina/Church could do. And you might be asking, "Well couldn't Church just distract the Meta during the temporal distortion unit?" Well yes, but even if the Meta wasn't able to finish her off at the very start with his temporal distortion he would still be at a huge advantage since Carolina would be injured. And while she could use York's healing unit to help deal with the injury, it's still limited as to how much it can do.
IN regards to the Meta being distracted, the alpha is like the father of the other AI or their creator essential, and Epsilon was the last fragment as well as the memory of their creator, essentially like someone being a direct copy of god to them, and since the Meta is a puppet it allowed them to get the upper hand, plus the Meta never beat Carolina in the series, if I remember she fought Tex and then was thrown from the crashing ship. So she was laying there unconscious and the Meta just walked up and took her AI.
i dont think there was fan service, as a long time fan this felt like what would have really happened. Carolina and Epsilon are crafty and always figure a way to win unconventionally.
The first time Meta took the AI from Carolina didn't really count as a fight, because they were allies, and she was the first person he betrayed to take their AI and was taken completely by surprise by him.
I'm glad you touched on the key subject of the fight, the fact that Meta literally just stared at Epsilon and allowed himself to get blown up. Sadly, due to the 8 separate AI fragments in his head, he's kinda had his brain reprogrammed to focus entirely on any new AIs he hasn't captured. I'm pretty sure Alpha was able to use that to his advantage in order to distract Meta long enough to get inside of him and keep him occupied long enough for Washington to EMP him and wipe out all the fragments at once. And when he found Epsilon inside the relic, he literally dropped everything he was doing to chase Epsilon around a desert (and I'm pretty sure he was about to kill someone at the time).
There's also the fact that Carolina was always better than Maine; she was always top of the Leaderboard that they had before the AI came into play. Also you guys should react to the RVB Tex beat down, Season 8 Episode 10
"It feels like an episode of Red vs. Blue" Probably because it is. This was episode 13 of RvB season 14, hence why they had Vic at the beginning, all the VAs, and the RT Animation outro at the end. The more you know.
I think one thing they could have done better with this fight would be to have Epsilon actually jump into the Meta to mess with him like the finale for Season Six rather than have him be distracted through conversation. That way, it removes the luck factor of "oh, so he just so happened to stop and stare at it long enough for Carolina to get the upper hand." I know there was the precedent of the Meta being distracted by Epsilon's floating orb body and not really chasing it as aggressively as he could have, but going with the other way would just be a more active approach to it that makes it more obvious how the Meta could be distracted by it long enough for Carolina to get in a kill shot.

I felt like the Meta would win - not because I’m sexist, get that out of your head - but here’s my thing here, keep in mind I like both characters and I want to use sort of kind facts which I’ve seen. xXMetaXx ((Strength)) -Rips and tears apart, throws and kicks 3.25 ton Warthogs Jeeps. -heavy enough to act as a counter weight to the Sarcophagus. -Was still able to move after being hit numerous times with paralyzing paint, which is said to turn armor as hard as rock. -Sent Doc flying with one punch and crashing him into a thick wall, leaving him stuck hard enough that not even the Meta can pull him out. -Easily ran into a solid stone column and launched it towards Agent Texas. -Knocked out an Insurrectionist soldier with just a single punch to his head -Kicked a large chunk of ice across the ground. ((Speed)) -dodged point-blank shotgun blasts from Sarge, chaingun fire and machine gunfire. -kept up with Tex who - from my understanding - has supersonic combat and reaction speed and even outran a rocket. Epsilon was a failing Artificial Intelligence, so he couldn’t handle everything Carolina was asking him. Yet in the fight, he was functioning flawlessly. It’s a major plot point in Red vs Blue season 13, I believe. Hope this helps anybody.

Im so glad that Red VS Blue was a thing because if it hadn't existed RWBY wouldnt either. Also great reaction as always guys just turn up the volume a bit on the video, I have to put my speakers on full to hear what you are reacting too. Red VS Blue I would say has a much better plot than Halo ever did in my opinion. Sure when it stared it was just comedy but once things got serious this series took off and never stopped going.
The best way to explain the reasoning for the victory would probably be that the voices in Meta's head are not in agreement, not even close. Each one represents a different emotion that tries to make him follow it, and his first AI (the best suited to control him) is just overpowered. On the other hand Alpha and Epsilon (the two Churches) were both given time to mature as actual people and hold the key roles in the original, making their voices much stronger than the others to the point where Meta and all the other fragments are completely sent into a daze by their presence, this actually happened in an earlier season. In other words, you could say that the Meta lost in this way is because they're from the same universe, take the same characters, powers, equipment, etc but say that Church is just a random AI with all these powers, not the fragment of memory, and Carolina may have been screwed.

I like the battle but honestly you are right about the underdog thing, I hate that shit especially from death battle. It is supposed to be where it is all about calculations and analysis to determine the winner, not because people "wanted" Carolina to win. it's just frustrating seeing death battle give a win to a character just cause the people "wanted" not cause of the analysis or evaluation.

I understand micah's argument but he forgets the animation is just for show just like deadliest worrier fights in the end are for show and not should be taken as the actual fight. Meta has been mesmerized before so it makes sense that he did here. Remember the original Alpha and the EMP? As for death battle. I think Meta lost not cause reasons but because he was outmatched. There's a reason Carolina was #1 on the leaderboard and he wasn't. He only beat her the first time because she had 2 A.I, which was driving her insane/she had just gotten in a fight with Tex n was weakened. It wasn't fan service, it was facts.

The Meta was actually beat that same way in season 6. The Alpha revealed itself which stalled the Meta and gave Wash the extra few seconds he needed.

I felt like the Meta would win - not because I’m sexist, get that out of your head - but here’s my thing here, keep in mind I like both characters and I want to use sort of kind facts which I’ve seen.

-heavy enough to act as a counter weight to the Sarcophagus.

-in his final fight: Survived multiple mine explosions, hits from Tex, being slashed and stabbed with a knife (Including slashed across the general region of his heart and stabbed in the spine), shot by his own Brute Shot's grenade, being stabbed by an energy sword, four point-blank shotgun blasts, and falling down a cliff in the span of fifteen to twenty minutes with no effect to his fighting ability.
Epsilon was a failing Artificial Intelligence, so he couldn’t handle everything Carolina was asking him. Yet in the fight, he was functioning flawlessly. It’s a major plot point in Red vs Blue season 13, I believe.

Red VS Blue I would say has a much better plot than Halo ever did in my opinion. Sure when it stared it was just comedy but once things got serious this series took off and never stopped going.
The best way to explain the reasoning for the victory would probably be that the voices in Meta's head are not in agreement, not even close. Each one represents a different emotion that tries to make him follow it, and his first AI (the best suited to control him) is just overpowered. On the other hand Alpha and Epsilon (the two Churches) were both given time to mature as actual people and hold the key roles in the original, making their voices much stronger than the others to the point where Meta and all the other fragments are completely sent into a daze by their presence, this actually happened in an earlier season. In other words, you could say that the Meta lost in this way is because they're from the same universe, take the same characters, powers, equipment, etc but say that Church is just a random AI with all these powers, not the fragment of memory, and Carolina may have been screwed.
Blahblah9755 Actually none of his A.I. are suited to him, his A.I. was supposed to go to Carolina originally, who would have been able to temper Sigma's ambition with her own, she gave it up to him so he could communicate with the team

it did feel a lot more like a story than straight up comparison of feats and abilities but it made sense
these guys know everything about everybody ever in death battle
1. Carolina is BOTH south and north carolina, as she was designated to have 2 AI at once, to see if it was possible. You guys are thinking of Agents South and North Dakota, North Dakota getting an AI and South being denied to see how AI could handle working with an AI-free agent.
2. Charismatic female fighter and selling point of the new seasons vs one-dimensional male fighter who died 3 seasons back. You already know which one RT is going to have win.
You were mistaken. She is just Carolina, you are thinking of the Dakota twins (The 2 with purple armor and green accents). They, for whatever reason, just have one Carolina and no distinction between North and South.

I like the battle but honestly you are right about the underdog thing, I hate that shit especially from death battle. It is supposed to be where it is all about calculations and analysis to determine the winner, not because people "wanted" Carolina to win. it's just frustrating seeing death battle give a win to a character just cause the people "wanted" not cause of the analysis or evaluation.

I understand micah's argument but he forgets the animation is just for show just like deadliest worrier fights in the end are for show and not should be taken as the actual fight. But if you count the actual show meta actually did something like this in the battle and its when sarge. just hooked him to the cheap while meta was choking him and was thrown of the cliff.

Meta has been mesmerized before so it makes sense that he did here. Remember the original Alpha and the EMP? As for death battle. I think Meta lost not cause reasons but because he was outmatched. There's a reason Carolina was #1 on the leaderboard and he wasn't. He only beat her the first time because she had 2 A.I, which was driving her insane/she had just gotten in a fight with Tex n was weakened. It wasn't fan service, it was facts.

Plus you saw it. He was distracted by one Ai. Carolina was still not strong enough to handle that kind of strength. Just because you're number 1 doesn't mean no body can't beat you to the top.
Tex was killed by the meta, her whole thing was that no matter how amazing she is she can never achieve her goal because she was a shadow based of the memory of Alison's death
