    Was thinking about trying to find some steel wheels for my old Deere, but not sure I want to. Makes it difficult to trailer and take to shows. Have to get one of each 😂

    Put Farmboy on there for the maiden voyage.
    See if you hear anything rattling around in his head:)! I think it’s empty!

    My Granddad had a set of steel wheels for his '39 70 we added to the axle with the rubber still on. We had to add them to plow as the rubber was pretty much worn out. Oh what a ride that was in the barn yard gravel driveways. We have a set of steel for Dad's '49 88 he bought just because. Never been on that I know of.

      I think the fleetline tractors look neat on steel. You rarely see one. Maybe someday I’ll put one of those on steel as well!

    Hi Ross. I thought I was going to be in for it when I pulled the cutoffs on my Oliver Hart Parr 70 row crop. I wire wheeled the splines and soaked the axels for a few days and after a couple of whacks with a sledge, they both scooted right off. Considering how crusty this little tractor is I felt pretty lucky.

      Sometimes they can be near impossible to get off!!!

      @@rosstheoliverman I have battled the rack and pinion style on the John Deere's a time or two and thought they were miserable. My neighbor had a 237 mounted picker he use on a John Deere 70 every year and they were never a problem. They just don't get used so they get crusty.

      I like his stuff. I admire that someone chose agriculture over corporate work. Most people don’t realize the change in lifestyle that would take. Much lower budget but much more rewarding.

    You put both of them on different ways so you could look at it and tell what way it looked the best

      I’ve learned to do a lot with a little. Most of the time it’s me by myself so I’ve figured out things that work for me. Sometimes you got to get creative!!

    Has the inner ring been added to those wheels to add lateral stability ??? I ask because the wheels are riveted construction and that inner band is welded.

    • @rosstheoliverman
      @rosstheoliverman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All the ones I’ve seen have that ring. I would say it’s a factory deal. It is interesting that they used rivets for certain things.
