Thank you for the demo Phil, I'll be going from an old D7000 to a Z9 when it finally arrives and was wondering if I should get the 1.4 TCII for use with my 200-500 f/5.6. Without it a cropped equivalent image from the two cameras wouldn't be much different due to DX crop on the D7000, seems like that's a definite yes for the price of the 1.4 TCII.
You've got some fairly significant chromatic aberration in the shot of the Canada geese against the bright sky at 4:47. Is that being introduced by the 200-500, the teleconverter, or both? (i.e. do you see that kind of chromatic aberration with the 200-500 but without the addition of the teleconverter? Or with the teleconverter paired with another lens?)
I'm not the OP, but in high contrast situations CA is present on this lens at the long end, especially if you crop. This looks slightly exacerbated by the TC and can be corrected in LR.
yep i shoot ( targets only ) if you want quality images you really have to use a nikon tc 1.4 ii , its doubtfull cheaper manufacturers use the coatings on glass that makes 90+ light transition its to expensive a process . same with binoculars and riflesights . nikon like zeiss and meopta go the extra yard .. so you only lose 1 stop of light on a nikon 1.4 tcii converter ..
TC-14E II, there is a newer version out the III. There are definitely some auto focus issues with a Tele converter on the 200 to 500. It will auto focus but not very well.
extra glass always means a little less IQ. it also stops down the lens so you gotta adjust for the loss of light, which means you oftne push iso which ends you up with more grain in the image. the D500 is easily usable up to 10000 iso imo though. i got one myself and up to 4000 iso i dont even think about it. anything higher will be more obvious but the D500 is a beast still.

We have tons of Blue Heron up here in Delaware. The 200-500mm works great.

I've got the D500 and same 200-500 lens. Trying to find out if the 1.4 version III will work with it?
The 1.4 Tele converter does work with the 200-500, but just barely.
By the way. What is the exact model of your teleconverter and did you have any issues auto focusing?

i have nikon af-s tc-14EII 1.4X and it doesn't work with this lens what kind are you using ?
