Guatapé was great! The tour I booked included a roadside stop for breakfast, a boat ride on Embalse del Peñol (cruising by Pablo's former waterfront home) and lunch. The tour was only $48 CAD and included roundtrip bus from El Poblado but entry to the rock was a separate fee. Highly recommended!
Certainly on the to do list. I went the public bus route, take the metro to the Caribe stop, walk over the bridge to the bus terminal. I believe there are two different companies that service the route to Guatape running about every hour or so if I remember correctly, The bus stops at the El Penol first, after the trek up and down the rock I tool a motorized cart to Guatape and toured the town, After lunch and touring the town walked a short distance to the bus stop for the return trip back to the bus terminal. I would certainly do it again, the views from the top are amazing.
100% worth a day! Def recommend, perhaps not group tour but rather private driver who knows the proper pit stops. Roadside arepas de choclo for the win.
I went with a Tour group in April. There was an English Guide and a Spanush speaking one. Its an all day tour basically. Getting up the rock was miserable....but you sober up when its time to cone back down. The town itself its pretty cool with the color "rules"
Guatupe is a must do while in Medellin. My friends and I also rented a boat and crusied on the lake for a couple of hours while there. We ate lunch at a resturant by the lake. Overall, a great day trip experience.
I have been there. My colombiana novia begged me to go! So, we went. Yes, even at 63 I made it to the top! We had the mango drink. We stayed a few days and explored Guatapé. I'd say it's a must see.

Always fun for a day trip!
Definitely!
This is always one of the treats of any trip. Then renting a boat is also amazing. Looking so forward to being back down there in a few weeks.
