my favorite game mechanic, diving in helldivers 2. its so simple yet so fun, being able to throw myself into cover, off buildings, into enemy lines, all with my free will has got to be my favorite that NO ONE talks about
@@Fanboy_of_everything Any Monarch born after 2500 can't play... all they know is Energy Thief, charge they core. rearm, be Superior Chassis, eat hot battery and die
@@arbiter1er yes, it actually takes a good bit of brain power to play monarch, it's just that the thinking isn't complex. it results to a constant stream of "can I kill? Can i eat ur power core? TOO STRONG, PANIC! _yes good_ take that titan down to low health for me, I am _absolutely_ going to take that kill and eat he powercore. where cores, need more cores, gimme cores."
One thing I love in helldivers 2 is the armor penetration mechanic. It’s just the right amount of complex and something a lot of other games don’t think about. In other games, something like the factory strider or bile titan would just be a large health pool, but in Hd2, you can’t even damage those enemies with certain weapons and you have to shoot certain places in order for it to work. It’s a fun mechanic that makes the game that much more unique
I do agree, but I think durable damage takes it a step too far in my opinion. The fact that it’s not displayed anywhere in game makes it super funky and hard to keep track of, and makes some weapons fell way more or less powerful than they should (think emancipator exosuit on release). Honestly I don’t really get why they can’t just do away with it as I feel like the game doesn’t really need it for balance.
@@azap1378 they should probably let players know what kind of enemies you're gonna go up against so that way people can be equipped accordingly. But honestly, the penetration system is my favorite thing in the game. It adds some thought into load outs
Respect for putting up fairly recent footage from helldivers 2. For those who dont know, at the time of upload we were wrapping up stage 3/4 for the deployment of a giant space station and the footage seems to capture events from as recently as a week ago.
Small fun fact about the finals: it's a game made by ex battlefield devs, so that's why the game is so addicting and enjoyable (if you ignore the lights)
Helldivers 2 has my favorite respawn mechanic in anything ever. Having a teammate tag the hulk that killed me and obliterating it as you land with your hellpod is an unmatched feeling
The galactic war system from helldivers 2 has so much goddamn potential, it's actually insane. It involves the community in such a unique way that i really hope we see this mechanic developed by other devs in the future
One of my favorite things about Ultrakill is that you can combo several different weapon upgrades to do really sick things, like shooting an explosive bomb from your shotgun and then blasting it with a Railgun to make a bigger explosion, or using both upgrades to the nailcannon to set enemies on fire in a small radius. Even if the game didn’t have the absolute stockpile of movement options it does, the amount of combos you could pull off would make up for it.
Helldivers 2 has an incredible amount of detail in it too. Guns have trigger discipline, where you don't actually have your finger on the trigger until you're aiming, the magazines and spare stuff thrown out actually account for how much ammo you've used, like if you do a partial reload on an explosive crossbow when you still have 3 shots left, the discarded magazine will have 3 shots in it, etc. The graphics are fucking wicked and it's beautiful asf. They managed to make the dry fire hellworld biome look genuinely beautiful There are way more details too
One of my favorite game mechanic is the dynamic limbs of Clone Drone in the Danger Zone. You don’t have a health pool like in most games, if someone stabs you in the face that’s death, someone shoots you in the leg and now suddenly you can barely walk, you lose an arm and most of your weapons are unusable. It’s really fun!
A unique mechanic that i love was introduced in mass effect 3. Combo explosions. Incinerate + overload = Fire explosion. Overload + concussive shot = tech burst. Warp + throw = biotic explosion.
-I absolutely love titanfalls grapple it’s just sooooo goooood. -The portals from portal is very fun, and the game splitgate incorporating it into a shorter is very cool.
@stroads I think the tank would be much more useful in the second game. Because you can actually go away from your teammates and do objectives with just 2 people piloting it. But I also think it would be broken af with that anti tank armor and mobility. Maybe it would be pretty balanced if you had to drop all your equipment when you go inside it so you would be pretty vulnerable if you lose the vehicle, but if they would just put it as it was in the first game it would be OP. THE BIKE THO. ADD THE BIKE, I MISS MY BABY
[Scheming weasel playing] Monarch: (wakes up) Monarch: "I'm so hungry" Monarch: (Walking past all the other titans having an argument to the fridge) Monarch: (Opens the fridge and gets out some batteries) Monarch: (pouring it in a bowl and eating it like cereal)
I have a variety of mechanics from Titanfall 2 and so on and so forth, but one mechanic I love actually isn’t even from Titanfall, it’s actually anthem. I loved the unique art style of the game and I wished it got more love, but what I especially enjoyed was that specific classes got specific weapon types to help balance things out.
me and some friends spend like 3 or 4 evenings playing the finals about a year or two ago. The experience of holding an objective inside a house that collapsed more and more the longer the fight went along, is still clear in my memory. Fun game to try out at least once if you feel like trying something new with your buddies.
Huh? TF is fine now. Sure the updates are just a distant memory but the bots are gone as far as I'm aware. And we have been getting unique new maps and gamemodes thanks to the map coding update.

I can confirm every game is worth playing, exept the card one every other game I have played for maby 2 thousand hours combined (mostly from tf2 and tf2)
Idk why, but I feel like a combination of helldivers with titanfall would be incredible. Imagine dropping in on the terminid front with your scorch titan and holding off as many bugs as you can so your team of helldivers could work on getting the power generators turned on. Titans would make for an awesome stratagem
5:53 I agree with you about The Finals. Tbh the Destructable part is sometimes a pain in the ass, it makes me get pissed depending on the situation I am in. but I do agree that the game is different, It was fun when I tried it. The teammates were also a hit or miss, as usual. I haven't played it for a while either, but it was good.
My favorite game mechanic is either all of the different ways to interact with combat in Def Jam Fight for New York, or Dragon's Dogma having a dedicated grab button in a fantasy game
My favorite mechanic has to be the Deep Wound status effect from Dead by Daylight for how much pain and suffering a yellow bar, a 12 second timer, and a single, 10 second interaction to clear the effect and do it all again
More of a system then a mechanic, but I always adored the leveling system of a painfully obscure game called Troubleshooter: abandoned children. TLDR: its warframe but on steroids. The masterstroke though are the mastery (perk) combos. If you equip 4 specific masteries you unlock an extra effect, and they tend to be quite powerful. It is a simple concept, but having to balance Mastery's anate effects with set effects, and being able to swap masteries out at any moment created the single most engaging leveling system I have ever experienced. Between every mission I am asking myself which of my highly important masteries I want to drop for another, slightly more important, one.
A gameplay mechanic I've only seen in one game was the Hotswap mechanic for Battlefield:, Modern Combat for the PS2. In the campaign, instead of you being a named soldier, are you a nameless soldier on the battlefield. The player can hotswap between soldiers they have line of sight to.
