That they Sent him to his rest standing up, is probly the most honourable act ever for a champion bull. And to have one of his jump chutes as a headstone says massive amounts about the love the industry had for him.
Not a big deal, but no. He didn't own his own jump chutes and didn't have one as a headstone. In 2004, The Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show had a *miniature* bucking chute manufactured and gave it to his owner for Bodacious' grave. 🐂
@@TheStockwell did you not watch the video? Bo's owner literally said it is the gate that he came out of. Not a miniature. Sorry, I believe the owner not you.
He didn't. That was what set him apart. Bushwacker was an athlete who probably enjoyed it. Plenty of bulls do. Bodacious hated being ridden. His own owners and handlers said so. That's what made him great. "at a rodeo outside Okeene, Oklahoma, a rookie got his hand caught in his bull rope at the top of the bull's back. When the rider started flailing around the side of the bull, trying to dislodge his hand, Bodacious panicked. The bull spun, jumped, and kicked, trying to get free of the rider. He kicked so high he almost flipped over. "By the time the boy pulled free, the bull had nearly gone over the fence". "After that, he had a goal: airmail those cowboys." According to Sumner, something happened to Bodacious after that, and he decided "he didn't want anybody on him or near him".
yes and he was never a bull that went after a downed rider, he was as professional as a bull can be after the rider was off he would just kinda walk away not try to stomp them
True he’d take a victory lap the go through the gate. Never chased a cowboy or a bull fighter. When he was ridden by Tuff he knew that wasn’t supposed to happen so he started to do the jerk down that messed up Tuff the next time.
They had a TV documentery on Swedish TV channels about this bull back in the 90s, way before the internet became main stream for homes. Remember watching it as a kid and I still remembered this bull to this day. Rest well Bodacious.
Well this is the first time I heard of Bodacious so I'll be remembering his name and if I have something worthy to name Bodacious after I will. RIP Bodacious 🐂🤕
I will never forget Bodacious, he was the one who got me hooked on Bull riding. He was a sight to see and a joy to watch. He absolutely earned my vote for the most entertaining and high flying bull I've ever seen. He was massive! Spit flying, head and chin splitting, beautiful beast of a bull. My heart warmed when they said they buried him standing up. A loving tribute to his legacy.
I used to work at the fuel desk of a truck stop. Many of the Drivers were former bull riders. One of them admitted to have ridden Bodacious once. His ride lasted all of FOUR seconds. Kudos to both!
I was born in 1998 and I have a mega soft spot for Bodacious but I remember from the time I can remember I grow up watching PBR I always was looking for Bodacious’s turn or Little Yellow Jacket
I’m a pompous ass and Mr. GQ from Chicago. But I saw a story on Bodacious via George Michael sports in the 90’s. Didn’t know the PBR existed. But was very much intrigued about the unridable yellow bull. So thanks to Bodacious I started watching PBR. Once PBR retired him I retired too. PBR let me know when another Bodacious comes around. If that’s even possible.
I remember watching televised rodeo as a teen , I don't remember who the rider or commentator was but when the com mentor announced the rider and bull coming up , he said, " The next rider is _______ from ________ his ride , ...... OMG ...' Bodacious ' . " The people in the stands slid to the edge of their seats .
I still remember my Farrier telling me about this bull when I was a kid. He was a professional bull rider in his younger days. This bull truly was the stuff of nightmares. 😱
When the three time world champion and probably the best bull rider of his time jumps off saying” not for me thanks” then the bull has officially won!! He was the stand out bull of his generation and retired at his peak for being too dangerous- wow no other bull has had that intimidation factor
I grew up and live in the northeast where rodeo and bull riding isn’t really that big and I still managed to hear about the HAVOC Bodacious was reeking on bull riders back in the day! Which got me into following bull riding and rodeo. Now that’s sayin something about that ol’ big boy! If you making big enough waves to be heard and seen up my way then you sure as heck are cleanin house !
I am just now getting into this sport and I am in awe of you guys. It’s much braver to try and ride one of these bulls than to be the bull. Those animals are legitimate forces of nature and I have the utmost respect for people with the guts and grit to give it a ride. Thank you for posting this!
When he talked about Bodacious bringing in new fans I immediately raised my hand, lol. Yeah I’m one of those guys, thank you Bodacious I’m still a fan.
Sure introduced us to mr. Sammy Andrews, he paved the way for all the buck’n bull owners today no doubt about it👍👍I have the bodacious buckle and the grasshopper buckle from back when those two where puttin the fear of god n all us wannabe lane frost’s back n the day🤣🤣 thank you sammy
Sammy Andrew's and bob tallman I believe set up the registry for bull bloodline. So what we are seeing today are bulls that are 100% berd to buck. This seems to have improved the overall quality of bulls exponentially. Bodacious was one of if not the first sire in the registry I believe if it wasnt him then it was probably sammy Andrew's other great bull skat cat. This registry system and the attention he brought to the pbr made bodacious maybe the most important bull ever.
I always remember Bodacious as an oddly respectful bruiser. As much as he'd damn near murder his riders, I can never recall him deliberately going after a downed one.
I have a belt buckle that I've had for 10 years but the story behind how i got it was it was givin to a younger guy who just tossed it aside so my ex took it but I knew Bodacious was a famous one,
Meanest bull in the rodeo game i use to watch him when i was a kid remember him an when they retired him we used to love to see the damage he do to people he did not play
Bull riding was awesome back in that time period. Bo was the undisputed king and the biggest draw and Don Gay doing the announcing, those were good days. Don Gay would say watch out he's a gonna horn in on your business, lol, I tip my hat to all them boys and bulls from that time, they made the PBR what it is.
I've seen a bunch of posts about how people learned of this bull, for me that introduction was Primus. He's a cream colored beefy brawn full fledged four footed bovine celebrity!! It was a great moment when I finally did the research.
Getting off the bull seem more dangerous even if they make it to eight seconds. I always place odds on the bull. I think Bodacious should have went to Spain for the running of the bulls. That would have been interesting.
This is the greatest bucking bull of all time. Not Bushwhacker. Bodacious had twice as many riders with a similar buck off percentage. He is also the only Bull retired so he didn't kill someone. If that's not the greatest ever I sure as hell don't know what is. Don't care what JB Mauney says either. The best rider ever was Lane Frost.
I have seen this bull several times at Bud Gibson place here in Hawaii, an amazing Bull, why guys ride bulls is beyond me,well except the money involved
That they Sent him to his rest standing up, is probly the most honourable act ever for a champion bull.
And to have one of his jump chutes as a headstone says massive amounts about the love the industry had for him.
It would’ve been cool if they’d had him stuffed/mounted.
Not a big deal, but no. He didn't own his own jump chutes and didn't have one as a headstone. In 2004, The Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show had a *miniature* bucking chute manufactured and gave it to his owner for Bodacious' grave. 🐂
@@TheStockwell Ahh, ok. I misunderstood .
I thought they sent a chute he had bucked out of regular to use as his headstone.

I had the pleasure of watching B on tv a lot of times. I liked that bull.
Bodacious was a bull that loved the sport just as much as the riders did.
He didn't. That was what set him apart. Bushwacker was an athlete who probably enjoyed it. Plenty of bulls do. Bodacious hated being ridden. His own owners and handlers said so. That's what made him great.

Anyone who gives a 100 percent at what they do deserves to be admired. Bodacious always gave that.
Great comment man,so true
Meh….i wouldn’t say anyone. I mean, plenty of people do very bad things. We don’t need people out here admiring serial killers bc they gave it 100% 😬
Bodacious & Secretariat two of the best athletes of all time.
I whole heartedly agree. I saw them both and feel honored and blessed to have seen them.
@@donpendleton1664that’s amazing you saw both
@@donpendleton1664definitely blessed
I know them both personally and I cherish them and I cherish their friendship.
Truer words have never been spoken or typed!!!
I'll never forget seeing Bodacious, what a amazing beast!
Thanks man!
That stutter step bodacious did was absolutely incredible. 2 jumps in a row on the front hooves before dropping the back hooves. Unrideable
Yes indeed super immense power.
A bull legendary enough Primus wrote a song about him. RIP Bodacious
I live in Perth Australia and heard of Mr Bodacious in a Primus song.
He is farking a superstar 🐂

I used to hear that after Bodacious buck his rider off, he'd walk around the arena almost like he was going "Alright, who's next?"
Used to*
Unless you still hear it lol
yes and he was never a bull that went after a downed rider, he was as professional as a bull can be after the rider was off he would just kinda walk away not try to stomp them
No shit, I agree…
He knew it was a competition and he was gonna win it every time.

It's a honor to see those Cowboys who rode Bodacious.

4 seconds on bodacious is a pretty good effort
Always was my favorite bull it was about the only reason I watched pbr I do miss seeing that master of disaster
I heard about Bodacious when I was living in Vegas. No cowboy could ride him during the big Rodeo tournament. This bull was big news in town.
What a cool tribute burying him standing up!!
