    As a conservative/libertarian, I'm very glad to listen to Mr. Greenwald and Mr. Taibbi. I don't care about anyone's politics, only whether we can have a convo. Two of the best true reporters around.

      About 20 years ago I was staying with my aunt and the water there water was different somehow and better tasting. It was so weird. I finally told her “I don’t know why, and you’re going to think I’m crazy, but your water tastes really good.” That when she told me it was water from their well.

    Glenn Greenwald was one of the featured journalists in "Citizenfour" (documentary on Edward Snowden) - was awarded the Best Documentary at the 87th Academy Awards... guy is simply A LEGEND...

    Shout out to the lady who asked that last question which was so on point and the answer was great. I think that idea that both parties where basically the same was IMO why Trump saying he was going to drain the swamp resonated with so many people.

      Yeah, it resonated, but it never happened. Instead, Trump filled the swamp with crocodiles. It's good to understand what people saw in Trump, or thought they saw, but let's not forget what an absolute disaster he was as President.

    The two best journalists in the world. Tiaibbi I have been a fan of since I discovered him in 2002 or 2003 with his critique on the Iraq war. I thought at the time he was so wrong and just a mouth piece for the left but his reporting was so concise and well laid out that I couldn’t help but take notice. From that point on I always read and listen to what he says and reports on.

    It’s been hard to understand this dynamic of what I call “splitting off”.
    Something we cannot afford to do anymore as a culture and a species.
    I respect both Taibbi and Greenwald.
    It was hard during the emergence of Trump to hear Greenwald and what he was saying.
    However, what he was saying was holding the “tension of the opposites”.
    This is a needed dynamic that must continue publicly and interpersonally.
    It’s much more complex than what I am suggesting here, however suffice it to say, this podcast for me is a much needed conversation.
    Please keep on.
    And I hope Glenn Greenwald appears more frequently on broadcasts!

    Matt's comments about it being a class divide are spot on. I grew up poor, very poor, now I kick down 250k per year. I can see both sides of the rich/poor divide. I have also found that my experience is EXTREMELY rare. I've said for years we need politicians who remember living on ramen and store-brand mac n cheese. I hoped Obama would have remembered his childhood. Instead he embraced the Harvard elitist ideas and "forgot" where he came from. 😔

    This is the first time in a while I’ve heard populism discussed on the pod without the “let’s get back to Clinton/Obama era bi-partisanship” as the backbone of discussion. That being said, I do think the pod is more aware of the real economic implications of populist legislation than the politicians themselves.

      @@Jay-eb7ik because people don't express approval out of principle, most of the time. But rather, because the person they're lauding happens to agree with them at that time. Most of the Dems that criticised CIA/NSA excesses didn't do so because they had any particular principles, but rather because it happened to be politically expedient for them to do so. Republicans are predominantly the same. Here in the UK, Conservative and Labour are almost indistinguishable on concrete policy to any external observer. Politics is dead, and shortly, the world will follow.
