The models were walking too fast for "Making of a cyborg" and not feeling the music at all. I'm thinking maybe Fernanda Ly or Grace Hartzel would've felt the music and walk in perfect emotional synch. Too bad, Grace Hartzel was Dior exclusive, and Fernanda started walking at the second song. (I'm assuming what we hear in the video is what was played in the show)
If you look at closeups of individual looks, it's still something no one else could do. Those abstracted sci-fi references but made wearable and super luxurious. Like I totally see those furry capes as some kind of star wars thing but then made fashion. But compared to Balenciaga where it was a uniform theme, now these are more individualized. This is still a collection I go back to bc there is still that element of the cool sci-fi Ghesquiere girl.
I have a feeling that I don't know who this Louis Vuitton girl Nicolas is trying to create. For some seasons, it had at least been futuristically chic (see Ruth Negga's golden globes dress), but this FW17/18 collection just feels unfortunately flat. Maybe he should swap back to Balenciaga?
Well, you couldn't be any more correct: what the press never tells is that LV's women's ready-to-wear sales have actually dropped dramatically since Ghesquière took in after Jacobs. Editors live outside any sense of reality and seem to completely forget that buyers (even wealthy ones) somehow expect to look something else than weird or vaguely edgy when they spend $3,000 on a dress. And those few women who do enjoy edgy clothes have so many edgier labels than LV to choose from! It's hard to be coherent as a brand when you try to cover the world with your monogram bags on the one hand and then to offer clothes that require so much understanding of fashion at large to somehow become desirable-not to mention that the latter customer does not necessarily want to shop for her outfits amidst crowds of cheap tourists who are in the store to purchase a $250 wallet...
Since almost every designer seems to fail this season (apart from Anderson and Proenza), this one is actually quite nice, but compared to LV-cruise 2017 it's not mind blowing at all
