- This is my cover of "Ruined Seles", from the iconic opening cutscene of one of my favorite video games of all time, the cult classic JRPG The Legend of Dragoon, originally released on the Sony Playstation. This is another one that I originally recorded for a virtual recital, but thought I'd share it on here as well!
I used a pretty wide variety of hardware and software to put this together. I felt that this piece in particular would benefit greatly from live percussion instead of using samples, so I did my best to replicate the drums of the original with what I had lying around: bongos, a floor tom, and a variety of shakers, maracas, and tambourine.
I used my recently-acquired Yamaha DX7 IID for the bells, some strings, and some pads/atmosphere sounds in hopes of invoking the 90's-style digital sound of the original, and layered in some analog synths and modern samples to broaden the range and quality of sound further.

I never beat this game because it always froze at the same spot
yeahh haha its a pretty notorious problem, even the slightest damage to the disk will result in it freezing at any number of spots in the game
I'm guessing it's at the Venus fight because that's where mine would freeze, it was a known bug which took me a long time to pass
