- A beginner's tutorial on writing a standard access list (standard ACL) for the Cisco CCNA and CCNA Security. The demonstration uses the Cisco Packet Tracer software.
In part 3, I demonstrate why standard access lists are placed closest to the destination. Click here for part 2: • Standard Access List (...

The day i get a job in IT, i'll make sure to send a donation your way. These vids are top quality.
Did you get an IT job yet?
@@jeromebrooks9773 hahahahaha
how about now ? has been 4 years
Host Unreachable. Lol
:-)
Great teacher. Words can't describe how much you've helped.
Great explanation of standard ACL and reason for having it closest to destination network - thank you !
Hi From Azerbaijan, Great work, Thanx for simple and understanding lessons. Good Luck
Hey Dan I hope you reply this comment. I just passed my CCNA 200-125 today. Your videos were so much of help to me throughout my time of reviewing. You have a gifted ability to teach. Thank you so much.
Very good....simple and excellent narrative to be understood by beginners
Thank you for explaining the access list very well. At first im confused about it but I understand it now. Good job! 👍👍👍
Your information is still great untill now. Really appreciate it
Thank you very much, a lot of explanation in a very short time, your voice is so clear and well-known.
Great video series on Standard Access-Control Lists. Even working with device configs everyday, after a while I need a refresher on identifying the proper interface and precedence of ACL's. Keep up the great work!
Dan, you are amazing. Thanks a lot for your tutorials. I found it a lot boring and difficult to get through CCNA2 ACL chapter at netacad. but thanks to you it is much more clear to me right now. Keep going!
Great job Dan, I even learn from your typos/mistakes, brief, to the point, well explained and demonstrated, not convoluted, thank you!
Incredibly detailed explanation of the crucial steps. My thankfulness to you for these videos.
My university exam is until the standard ACL lol, so easy, apparent why university isn't a big deal.. a fella with a CCNA and the appropriate educational process will go beyond a bachelors student who is full time university heheee glad I'm only doing the bare minimum for college!! Thanks for the triple standard combo!
Very clear with these tutorials. Reading a book to learn concepts only goes so far, following along with you in packet tracer is what really made me understand Standard ACL's more. Thanks.
Thank you so much !! I was so confused but your explanation is super clear!!!!! you are amazingly good at teaching!!
hands down! he makes this understandable.
Love your videos, they have saved my life and time, I love them, thank you for your effort.
Wonderful tutorial. Bravo Dans.
Your videos for ACL are amazing, thank you!!!

Thank you again
Thank you very much.
great video !
well explain sir keep it up.
Hello Dan, thank you so much for such a great video, I did a simulation of it for my CCNA test preparation and for the routers I used a 2901, when I was trying to add the 192.168.4.0 network I could not assign the IP address to the fa0/0/0 what router and what eth0/0/0 did you use in packet tracer to allow the router to configure the network 192.168.4.0 /24 thank you again and look forward to hearing from you.
You are adding a switchport to the router, so create a VLAN 1, address, and no shutdown. Make sure you add the IP router to both routers too
pretty good. Thank you
thanks man really good
u the man dan
Excelent Vedio !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good class
wow nice ,well explained, how can i get more videos, like that NAT?
because ping from host B to host A requires response from host A to host B. your ping reaches from host B to A. Host A recieves the ping from host B. but when host A replies to the ping from host B, it is blocked by the acl.
Best Vid Ever
nice stuff here
Hi
can you help me? as I try to conf. .4.1 as def. gatway on router doesn't le me do that thank you frank
why is it not Inbound from the closest destination?
I have an assignment and I can't figure how to do it with standard ACLs like my instructor wants us to. We have network A and network B. I want a host on network A to be able to access one host on network B but not another host on B. I know you can do this with extended ACLs but how would you write and implement a statement like this using standard?
+Lello No-Rain Pillaza just deny the host on network b that you don't want host on A to be able to communicate with on a standard acl on the interface towards network A. the host on A would be able to send a ping to it but wont receive a reply. because the acl would block it.
Thank you!
thanks
How did you add Eth 0/0/0 to R0? What hardware do I need to add to R0 in packet tracer?
I got the answer.
Add this hardware "The WIC-1ENET is a single-port 10 Mbps Ethernet interface card, for use with 10BASE-T Ethernet LAN".
You need to turn off the router before you can add the hardware. There is a small power switch in the "Physical Device View" panel of the router. Just click it to turn it on and off. Once power is off you can add the above hardware and then you will see the Ethernet interface.
R0#show ip int brief
Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol
FastEthernet0/0 192.168.3.1 YES manual up up
FastEthernet0/1 192.168.1.1 YES manual up up
Ethernet0/1/0 unassigned YES unset up down
Vlan1 unassigned YES unset administratively down down
can any one tell me why you wouldnt or couldnt just use the ip access-list standard 1
and then the 10 deny host ____ 20 deny host ____ 30 permit any commands instead of access-list 1 deny host ___ acess-list 1 deny ____ access list 1 permit any commands?
Thanks to your of Technology
I see.. Thanks
thanx
