    I tried this approach to stop Network A talking to network B, but to allow network B to still talk to Network A. Pings from A to B are blocked as they should be. But pings from B to A just time out. Any ideas what has gone wrong?

    Dan could you make some tutorials on class-maps,policy-maps and acls? also ASA tutorials, ive been trying to set one up but there doesnt seem to be a good ASA simulation package. it would be perfect if they included an ASA in packet tracer.

    so when I use standard ACLS it's going to be always outbound and with extended ACLS is going to be inbound, just for the rules of closes to source and closest to destination? thanks great vid btw

    this is not understood - when do i need the wildcard when do i need the subnet? and also the CLI gives me other things than shown here.

    hello dan, greeting from Iraq, I understand why we can't use Standard ACL close to the source, But why we can't use Extended ACL anywhere? since it uses source and destination?
    Thanks, Regards.

    • @danstewww
      @danstewww 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, You would be able to put the extended access list anywhere in the network between the points you want to block, but if you put it closest to the source you are going to save bandwidth from stopping that packet from routing a lot sooner. Hope this answers your question, have a great day!

      I guess you can just go to int vlan and then ip access-group 100 out

    • @danscourses

      To get the wildcard bits you invert the subnet mask so 255.255.255.0 becomes 0.0.0.255

    After configuring access-list 100 for denying IP from host 192.168.2.100 to 192.168.1.0 network,then I added another access-list to deny IP from host 192.168.2.101 to host 192.168.4.100 by typing this command "access-list 100 deny ip host 192.168.2.101 host 192.168.4.100 ",but its not working.Can you help me out,why this is not working.

      And also apply this extended access-list on R1(config)int fa0/1
      R1(config-if)ip access-group 100 in
