Rural Chinese (older) ate a diet of 90% white rice did not get cancer so it's easy to conclude carbs are life saving.

What a beautiful and enlightening conversation. I loved it when you talked about alcohol. I listened to a recent podcast by Dr. Andrew Huberman where he, too, referred to alcohol as a neurotoxin in any amount. Your questions are always so relevant. I would love to see an interview between you two and Dr. Huberman someday. I hold all of you in the highest regard and as the most trusted sources of information on the internet.

I heard the same interview and I cried to throw my red wine in the trash. I love it and didn't have more than 5oz...but now I think...do you really want 5 oz of neurotoxin. Sometimes ignorance really IS bliss.

True but humans also evolved a way to process small amounts. I say enjoy in moderation!

Fantastic talk - thank you for highlighting the misinformation that is out there. It's scary how prevalent it is, and a comfort to know that there are people like you three to counteract it.

I would be so interested to hear Dr. Nagra's take on Dr. Brooke Goldner's contention that too many omega 6's from animals, processed foods and oils are complicit in creating inflammation that can promote auto-immune diseases. Her main point is that too many people are very unbalanced with their omega 6-3 ratio and that is why chronic inflammation occurs. If you ever could address this point, I would appreciate hearing the response. Another great conversation! Thank you.

I picture plants' "defense chemicals" as analogous to exercise. A stressor in the short term maybe, but healthy in the longer term.

I now try for 1.5 times the RDA for protein, but based on ideal weight. Still only about 85 grams.

Every time I click on TH-cam now there is a different person touting keto or even a carnivore diet with a zillion views. Oh well, two mouse clicks and they are gone. :-)

If I compare 200g black beans raw against 100g BB + 100g steel cut oats dry on chronometer.
    200g BB = 3.5g leucine, 3g lysine, 0.7g methionine
    100g BB +100g oats= 2.7g leu, 2.1g lys, 0.5g meth.
So even the need to mix them for the purpose of increased protein is invalid. Oats has other benefits though

      100g BB+ 100g quinoa= 2.6g leu,2.2g lys, 0.6g meth.

looking at your playlists full of the biggest frauds spreading misinformation especially Eric Berg means you should probably open a book instead of just picking videos on youtube that fits your narrative.

Good stuff! But can't help wondering if Dr. Nagra, being an ND, has left homeopathy, one of the pillars of naturopathy, behind. Homeopathy as the mother of all pseudoscience doesn't seem to gel well with evidence- and science-based medicine/nutrition.
