Hi Tom, another great video. Love the black painting of the timber it really brings out the grain, as for the roofing that straw matting over lapping like a traditional viking hut will look great and it will be light and allows the wind to pass through. 😉🥃🇦🇺

Well done Really like the new look! I was thinking Canoe trip to find tall grasses so you can weave them threw the wire fencing or moss maybe? Mosses maybe to heavy, Yet reed grass tied or woven in loosely threw will let the wind threw it!! Thatching it you may not need the wire fencing? I hear the wind lords testing your work!

For the roof you might consider using what we call shade cloth which is an open we've to keep sun off but not rain. Wind will blow through it and if you use the tan color it will show off the frames. You could also make it so you can remove it when your not there so storm winds won't affect it. The sticks you talked about would look good also.

Looks great. Maybe accent the design elements with another lighter color, like gold or grey. It will pop as much as you want it to by using it as heavily as you prefer. Looks fantastic. You did a marvelous job with the saw!
Hello my friend @Tom @CimbrerBushcraft , Good looking work Brother . I think if I was doing it I would just get a cheap painters tarp for cover furniture when your painting inside your home . It would be light weight , But would still keep a good pattern . And being a light color it would show up real good . I know of people that use them to make small tents even . And if the color changes and you don't like it , You could always paint it what ever color you wanted to . Any how , Nice work Brother , Looks cool . Very nice idea Tom. The roof, still cover with about 20 cm reed, then you are very close to the construction of the old Vikings and Germanic houses. By the way, also the Indians of North America, who partly built longhouses. However, the smoke outlet, I would not recommend through the roof, for this the hut is too small. Outside the chimney pipe and always use 45° bends. Greetings from Frankfurt
Well Tom that piece on your roof is really cool. You did a great job. If you want to strengthen it a little, I would use some 1 in. By 3 in boards spaced about 3 to 4 inches apart running the length of your roof. I think that would give you what your looking for. Good luck my Brother

I like your show because you also build things. I have an idea for your roof. Maybe a burgandy/red cloth. Like a viking ship sail. I am sure it could be secured with painted black screws with washers without the wind ripping it off. And also, either waterproof the material with a turpentine 8 oz/beeswax 1 pound/linseed oil 8 oz mixture so the rain beeds off. Whatever you do, if the material you use allows the rain to fall through, mold and mildew will build up on your roof. You may want a water tight roof or the ability to roll it up to allow the sun to dry your roof. Me...i like the reddish sail idea. Rolling either side up to the ridge poll, like the chinese bamboo curtains, once a week or two to allow the roof to dry. Gives you an attic for storing wood too maybe. Best of luck sir

You are a man of many talents Tom. Incredible. If there is an indigenous climbing shrub, vine etc, that could be trained to climb or partly climb over your shelter and that roof structure, that would look cool. Take care brother.

I would make it a weather proof roof and use is for storage of natural materials. Twigs for your stove for example

For the roof you might consider using what we call shade cloth which is an open we've to keep sun off but not rain. Wind will blow through it and if you use the tan color it will show off the frames. You could also make it so you can remove it when your not there so storm winds won't affect it.
The sticks you talked about would look good also.

Looks great. Maybe accent the design elements with another lighter color, like gold or grey. It will pop as much as you want it to by using it as heavily as you prefer. Looks fantastic. You did a marvelous job with the saw!

Hello my friend @Tom @CimbrerBushcraft , Good looking work Brother . I think if I was doing it I would just get a cheap painters tarp for cover furniture when your painting inside your home . It would be light weight , But would still keep a good pattern . And being a light color it would show up real good . I know of people that use them to make small tents even . And if the color changes and you don't like it , You could always paint it what ever color you wanted to . Any how , Nice work Brother , Looks cool . Very nice idea Tom. The roof, still cover with about 20 cm reed, then you are very close to the construction of the old Vikings and Germanic houses. By the way, also the Indians of North America, who partly built longhouses. However, the smoke outlet, I would not recommend through the roof, for this the hut is too small. Outside the chimney pipe and always use 45° bends.

Well Tom that piece on your roof is really cool. You did a great job. If you want to strengthen it a little, I would use some 1 in. By 3 in boards spaced about 3 to 4 inches apart running the length of your roof. I think that would give you what your looking for. Good luck my Brother

I like your show because you also build things.
I have an idea for your roof. Maybe a burgandy/red cloth. Like a viking ship sail. I am sure it could be secured with painted black screws with washers without the wind ripping it off. And also, either waterproof the material with a turpentine 8 oz/beeswax 1 pound/linseed oil 8 oz mixture so the rain beeds off. Whatever you do, if the material you use allows the rain to fall through, mold and mildew will build up on your roof. You may want a water tight roof or the ability to roll it up to allow the sun to dry your roof. Me...i like the reddish sail idea. Rolling either side up to the ridge poll, like the chinese bamboo curtains, once a week or two to allow the roof to dry. Gives you an attic for storing wood too maybe.
