The ONLY reason I’d say to get married on paper is because if something happens to one of you, you won’t have any legal rights in the hospital unless you’re married!! One of you could be on your deathbed and you might not be able to go back and see the person because you’re not married. Also!!!!!! If you do not create your own prenup, and you DO happen to get divorced, you adopt the prenup that the state has. Or you fight it out in court. Not saying you guys would get divorced id rather just create my own prenup with my partner instead of letting the state decide or fighting it out in court and wasting so much money.

You dont have to get married to be the power of attorney over a someone.. all they need is file power of attorney over eachother and they will be able to make medical decisions fir each other... Also.. about a prenup.. you dont need to be marriednfir that either.. just write down what you would want if yall separated and get it notarized and any separation would go off of your agreement
