    Take it one step further
Patch the solo bus down a stereo input channel with a ducker on it first and then on to the matrices.
Feed the side chain of the ducker with a mono aux mix of all the shout mics so when anyone talks into a shout mic, the solo bus is automatically ducked.
Great if the gig is in full swing and someone needs your attention.
You can of course turn the ducker off if the crew start talking Sh**e to each other as is often the case. 😀
Can be done on most boards. You just have to find a way of patching the solo bus into an input channel. Easy done internally on the Digico but might mean a physical out and In patch on other boards.

If you have more talkback inputs, send all of those to an aux and then the aux to matrices. This way you can save matrix inputs and use more talkback channels than you have matrix inputs.

Yupp. I’m trying to remember how I used to deal with the doubling up of the talkbacks if I was listening to a mix that had that talkback in it as well as it also going to my aux/matrix. I can’t remember if it was a phasing problem or If it just got louder (ie: I’m soloing a mix that has MD talk sent to it but I also have talk aux going to my matrix as well).

Great video thank you. I do kind of the same, instead of sending directly the tb’s to the matrix mixer I create an AuX bus for all the talkbacks

I'm fairly new to mixing monitors, but what is the MD? Is that the music director? Would it also be smart to route the lead singer's talkback mic using this method? And when it gives the warning message about not soloing, just to confirm you WOULDN'T solo the solo bus track or the cue matrix channels correct?

Help! My SD11i console doesn’t show “Solos” as a signal group option in internal ports - as yours does at 2:14
    Any tips?
