I just did this trip from OC to Vegas and back. I left home with 80% and stopped in Baker SC for 22 minutes arriving in Vegas with 40%. Had sentry mode on for 72 hours and left Vegas with 24% battery. Charged at Primm to 80% and arrived home with 6%. I had my wife and both of our luggage including Ice chest, so much more weight than you. I had about a 10 miles per hour head wind on way home affecting my range. I drive mostly under 70miles per hour. My average Wh/mile was around 284 for the round trip. Our batteries usable capacity is 79kW just FYI, not 75. Normally my daily Wh/mile is 240 for a full range at 100% being about 330miles. Good content!
@@JacobGagoOfficial no. I have the 2024 M3P. Got it May 29th. Just crossed the 3000 mile on odometer with this Vegas Trip. Like you, this was my second road trip with the first one being shorter to Palm Spring. Kinda like your Santa Barbara trip. So originally (June posts on a couple 2024 M3P Facebook groups) I was quoting 75k usable pack like you but I got a lot of push back. After research I learned the whole pack is 82 but usable is 79.8kw.
Recent range test showed that with 18 inch wheels and Hankook Ion EVO all-season tires, the M3P was capable of ~360 miles real-world range (including the reserve portion of the battery pack below 0%). That's at an average of 68mph. Damn impressive. With superlight aero wheels, this puppy could probably push ~380-390 miles of real-world range. Incredible considering this car's power!
Hahah, Vegas is on oven in the summer! If you had put the 3P on 18 inch forged wheels you would have no trouble making the drive. Thanks for the fun vid
My 2021 civic fills up with about 40 bucks and gets me 42 mpg on 10 gallon tank when road tripping. Seeing you get charge 29 bucks and having to wait an hour is crazy. The model 3 performance is my dream car. But seeing the charge times makes me hesitate going electric. Also seeing the videos where people had to wait in 1 hour lines just to charge after the 4 of July weekend is pretty wild. Thanks for the video. Very educational 👏🏽
Depending on where you live and how much you drive, your daily driving will cost just a couple of dollars and any EV can do the average person's daily commute.
his charger was expensive. When I charge in LA i can usually find a spot thats 27 cents/kw. The cheapest ive ever charged is 15 cents/kw. I think his charged 41 cents/kw - which isnt bad but aint the best. About .03-.06 cents per mile. vs .10 cents per mile you get in the civic w gas. If you live in a metropolitan area of california theres never a shortage on chargers. All the third party ones are usually way cheaper than the tesla stations, I use ev connect to find a station and see prices. I can imagine going road trips can be rough looking for charging. I havent road tripped with mine yet and i'm slightly worried itll get annoying stopping every 230 miles to charge. Might just go back to the ol prius when we road trip.
I don’t sit for a whole hour charging my YM. It takes at most 11-14 mins to charge it to 80% if it’s running low. It gives me time to hit the bathroom and stretch. It’s pretty much how long it takes when i drive my Toyota suv. I dont have to wait in line to pay or put in any info at the pump. I pull up, plug, leave it to charge. It’s so nice to wake up to a full “tank”. It charges while I’m asleep. Planning is important though, gotta get to know your car, a map shows you exactly where and how much it costs to charge. It’s very convenient once you get familiar w it.
3:38 at the 250KW stations, the presence of other vehicles shouldn't affect your charging unless everybody's pulling peak power and even then it might not. The cabinets that are not being fully used can move power to the others that may need it.
4th of July weekend 2023 drove my 2022 Tesla Model 3 RWD 18in aero tires from Newport Beach CA to Las Vegas NV: Newport Beach OC, CA (Home) to Primm NV Tesla Supercharger with only one stop for coffee in Barstow CA 100% - 5% 237 miles: Heading back to Newport Beach CA i stopped once again at Primm NV Tesla Supercharger i ended up charging few percent "more" then i needed up to 99% well thanks to uphill and headwind i arrived at Newport Beach Tesla Supercharger at 0% despite driven 5 miles less on that charge 232 miles return trip vs 237 miles going trip. My point is uphill with headwind together lowers distance to empty range much faster then downhill with tailwind!
That’s good. Q bueno. I’m considering getting a Tesla M3 but I’m stuck in do I want the long rage or performance. Either way, coming from a 24 Honda accord would be a great upgrade

@@JacobGagoOfficial cheaper scooters will have hard rubber tires which makes for a very uncomfortable ride. The air filled tires typically don’t lose much air often but will give a better cushion. FB marketplace should have good deals for a used scooter so look there first! Good luck!
Good question. The wind was pretty strong, and the car was able to stay firm, but you could tell the car was being pushed slightly. In comparison, with a Camry in the same wind, I wouldn't have felt it as aggressively.
I love your videos men! I have the same Tesla and I plan to make the same trip the following month, this helped me a lot, just like the Window Tint video !! 🎉
On my Vegas trips from OC on the way I stop at the Linq fast chargers before heading to the hotel. I then charge again to top it off before heading back. Then stop at Barstow for charging and food. Usually get home with 50%

Most drivers drive more than 150 miles in a single day, four times a year. EV’s are a great vehicle for daily driving. Long road trips will become less of an issue as technology evolves.
Bro I think your clueless about your Tesla and utra fast charging 🫣. The first station you went it seem like is at Newhall in Santa Clarita and those charges are the fastest same rate as the second chargers you went at Bridgeport which 250 kwh rate 😂. The issue is your charge is probably still a above 10-20% for which you will not get a higher charge rate 😅. Common bro you really need the 411 in Tesla charging and road Trip. Just saying!!
Remember this: When a charging station is busy, you won't receive the full charging speed. However, at the second location I visited, they have 150 and 250 chargers. While there's no specific charging station known as ultra-fast charging, certain locations are capable of charging at higher speeds even when busy due to different infrastructure.
@@JacobGagoOfficial Actually your wrong about this assumption. The first location you tried charging which is at Newhall all stalls are 250 kwh chargers so they don't share any powers. The issue is your state of charge when you arrive at the chargers thus the slow charge. Even in the second charger stations you still spend 45-minutes. What you have done is charged the night before to 100% then drive straight from your apartment to Las Vegas, Santa Clarita where you started is basically 45minutes away from L.A so it's not really representative of your description L.A to Vegas in one full charge.
I live in Hesperia and in my Huracan with a full tank I can go to Vegas and back with out stopping once. 520 miles on one tank. EV's are not even close.
