Definitely my kind of Carmen, and the most convincing and sensible Cherubino I've found so far (Agnes Baltsa was my first choice, but Maria Ewing totally won my heart). I discovered this amazing singer earlier today just to learn she passed away a few days ago. I simply cannot stop listening to her, and lost count of how many times I played her magnificent performance of Voi Che Sapete. I'm pretty sure if Mozart himself could hear her performance he would fall in love. She is brilliant, and just won another fan of opera. Rest in peace, angel in human form.

As Callas said in an interview (paraphrase) Carmen takes the role of the man; i.e., she picks out the potential lover and decides whether or not the connection is going to be made, it doesn't work both ways. She's the one who decides.
I love her singing! What a voice!! :) The pronunciation is a little strange in spots. I think those two were planned like that for emphasis. She seems to be able to pronounce them fine elsewhere. :/ PS. - cordoor36, bondjou was writing in French. Potentially because it is hard to identify questionable pronunciation if you haven't been exposed to a language much.
