In the possessives, the difference between Greek and English, apart from the inverted word order, is that in Greek, we don't have possessive adjectives, just strong and weak forms of possessive pronouns. For example, you can say "αυτό είναι το σπίτι μου" (= this is my house), with "μου" being a weak form, while in the sentence "αυτό το σπίτι είναι δικό μου" (= this house is mine), "δικό μου" is a strong form, because it emphasizes on who the owner is.
This is really useful, thank you so much! I’ve been trying to learn Greek for a couple of years and this clarifies the possessive. When I’m in Greece I find it difficult to speak more quickly because I’m always having to think of the correct endings. I’m hoping that by listening to your channel and also by speaking and listening when I’m in Greece the correct endings will become familiar to me so that I don’t have to spend time thinking about them too much. It was also really useful to hear how the accent is changed to the last syllable: I’ve noticed this in Greece and I’ve also noticed that I don’t do it: now I understand why I will try it- it does sound so much better.

I also visit with or without friends cause normally in such places people come to relax and they are open to talk to each other - as opposed to the average greek that normally focus on their company/friends, not talk to strangers and almost never goes out alone. Such places are also very popular with tourists that love beer and every time you would go you 'll meet someone from abroad. maybe we'll drink one together sometime!

But how do you tell the difference between 'Her husband reads a book' and 'Τhe man reads her a book'. Wouldn't they both be Το άντρας τις διαβαζει ενα βιβιλιο ? Very confused.

@@simold13 I think it would either be clear from context, which happens in English as well. Or you would try to avoid confusion by picking a different word, like "a" man, or "this/that" man, your husband, their husband etc. There's bound to be some way to make some extra distinction.

If this Easy Greek for beginners, why are the explanations of why a pronoun is used where in Greek? The explanations often contain the most complex of the words and they go quickly. I would appreciate the explanations in English.
