Joe turned his back on his friends, plain and simple. This vid came across as more AK and Joe favoring as opposed to the sheer audacity that Joe had in destroying what he had with his friends. It isn't their fault for believing in him, it will always be Joe's fault for being a bad person
It is their fault when they didn't see the clear signs that everyone else saw. That's like a woman dating a guy who has a history of abusing women and being surprised when it's done to them

This shit was planned by Rory. Even if Rory didn't pay this guy it's still pathetic and it low-key shows white people been waiting for Joe to fail. It's disgusting

This is why you have a solid contract when you partner up. I made the same mistake but my company was only worth about 250k. My partner dropped out but wanted a ton of money to leave. Lawyers, 20k and a "fuck you" later, and he was gone. Never making that mistake again.
Joe Budden is fickle and emotional. Doing business with him is like messing around with an unstable chick. Don't make long term plans with people like that!
Joe is that "friend" that would leave you drunk on the couch after bringing you to a party. He's unreliable and a complete loser. He's got money now but fame is fleeting and his children will sadly have to put up with him and his reputation.
The fact that Akademiks has a voice in this world shows how fucked up the content nowadays actually is. You can only be famous if you're a full blown basement dweller
When Joe didn’t mention Rory and Maul during his Spotify deal announcement post, just went on about himself, they should have woken up and smelled the Joe Budden flavoured coffee and kept it moving.

@@arikari7288 You might need another edit...you still got it wrong 😂 TLR and TRL are not the same thing. One is the name of the channel you watched this video on; the other was an MTV program
Being a fan of Joe Budden is like being in a toxic relationship. You try to stick around for the good times but in the end you're only fooling yourself.
Watching this months later, it's very eye opening. A cautionary tale warning against assuming friendship with someone. Throughout the whole ordeal, i blindly sided, and still side with Rory and Mal, but i am keen to learn from their mistakes. Rory mentioned it best on the point of friendships ruining businesses and businesses ruining friendships. Ignored subliminals about the friendship, or lack thereof, if addressed may have spared plenty of hurt. For Rory and Joe, i feel the business did not start because they were friends...the friendship started because there was business. For Mal and Joe, many assumptions about the business, on both sides, went unaddressed because of the long-term friendship, leading to the demise of both the friendship and business.
Kinda hypocritical that joe said “I don’t care abt contracts” then when mal says “he never thought he see the day joe would tell him the podcast is none of his buisness” now joe cares about contracts😂
It's all about context. Joe makes those statements, but whether it's Spotify or Complex he always fulfilled his end of the obligation. That final episode between the original cast when Rory asks Joe "Isn't the move we made the same as yours at Comcast & Spotify?" showed he misread the message. Joe builds up a show then waits for his contract to end to ask for more ("stick up time"). Rory & Mal just completely broke their contracts.
How about the fact he was writing the cut scene descriptions on a Microsoft Excel Spread Sheet, which is such a subtle dig at Rory’s telling of how he received the “accounting” I doubt many caught it.
Ross, to be fair, you skip over the fact that Rory tried to bring stuff to the table on behalf of the podcast, but Joe would bug out on him for it. Unless by "having something of his own", you mean something separate outside the podcast, which even then, he has Dussepalooza (until the pandemic) and the group he manages and whatever else on the music side. Also, it should be noted that the split was likely inevitable anyway by even Rory and Mal themselves, as they figured Joe would attempt to make them take a salary pay once their contracts ended, which he knows they would never go for, thereby purposefully pushing them out.
He either is not caught up and didn't watch their response to Joe&stuff. I was disappointed 😞 when i saw all the holes missing and all the reused Ak Jokes made me wonder if maybe his alliance to Ak made him not include things like this.
Lmao true ! Honestly could you imagine waking up in the morning and looking in the mirror, and see akademics, tshhh be so disappointing tho.. like how do you have the confidence to talk to any women anymore
Watching this back a year later. It’s actually kinda funny to me how wrong everyone was about Rory & Mal. I think people underestimated the amount of respect Rory and Mal had form the industry. Hell tbf even I didn’t think they’d land on their feet but props to them they did.
@@trtmuslimmcgregor4200 I’ve been saying this if Rory and mal had actually got respect and had a chance to talk then the would’ve had Spotify deals and would have to have been named on the pod they would have gotten there respect and would have had something to own/negotiate with it tbh if they would had gotten air to breathe than joes network would have actually been worth something 😂

If you watched Everyday Struggle at all, that was probably when his ego was at its peak. He constantly blew up on Ak, albeit Ak is a culture vulture. Telling someone "I don't like you having personality or opinions just stick to the facts" isn't exactly very useful criticism. Especially on youtube a platform where any type of content you can imagine has entire communities of people doing that very thing. So a person's personality and style is what sets them apart.

Trying to compare Joe Rogans podcast deal to Joe Buddens is like comparing apples to corn. Joe Rogan has multiple guests multiple times a week and covers subjects that span the board. Budden is exclusively dedicated to hip hop, which will only appeal to one segment of listeners.

True but for sure better than Amy’s podcast
@@cardbored_ Joe Rogan is a "stand up dude"?? how did I end up on this side of the internet? 🥲
Akademiks has no right to talk about other people's talent level. Everyday Struggle died after Joe left. He made his "success" off mocking the dead in Chicago. He's been checked on air by people on Everyday Struggle and backed down every time. Every time I see a Vod/clip of Akademiks he's always drunk looking like a alcoholic.

Hard to act like all three people deserved equal equity when only one person is known.
If Joe really was going “above and beyond” in paying them like he claimed, like pulling money from other ventures to pay them because the podcast wasn’t profitable enough, wouldn’t Joe have jumped at the chance to show them the real numbers? If they were really being overpaid compared to what their contract stipulated, then showing them the real numbers would’ve been the boss move and put them in their place as he was so obviously clawing to do.
The easy answer is yes. The complicated answer is also yes. The length dude went through to hide his books can only mean one thing, he lied and underpaid them.
@@williamblackfyre4866 nothing but facts. Companies. CEOs, and stock brokers are always happy to show what they did "out of the goodness of their heart". Makes it a great PR move, and tax write-off at the end of the year

The “large sum” Jay-Z wanted to feature on the nonexistent “Pump it Up Remix” was $250,000 U.S. according to Joe. That sounds realistic. Snoop Dogg said he charges the same.

You completely missed what Rory and Mal brought to the podcast.
Yes Joe is the A mic but only because he screams and shouts his edgy, hypocritical and often delusional takes.
Mal is Rocafella royalty. Played it cool and let his actions speak for him the same way Jay and Biggs taught him. Dude is close with half of the NBA too. He's a humble dude and he's not a podcaster but he knows right from wrong and would never compromise himself or his integrity for anyone.
Meanwhile, Rory was an honorary member of the industry illuminati. Always at parties and with connections that no one really knew about. Somehow manages a massive R&B group and put together an album out of nowhere with crazy features like an American Mark Robson. He also was legit the funniest guy on the podcast for a long time. So yes Schulz is a comedian but his podcasts arent funny or listenable.
People might have showed up to hear Joe's crazy takes on this or that but the only reason people stuck around or bothered with a whole episode was to hear Rory and Mals take on the topics and do their best to bring Joe back to reality.
Ice and Ish are cool but there's a reason you can't replace Rory and Mal with a Builder and a Deadbeat Dad you met in a stripclub.

Joe seems like a classic narcissist. I've had loads of experience with this type of personality. Highly motivated, massive egos, perfectionistic, can be extremely dynamic and loveable/charming at times. They are only ever looking out for the most important person - themselves and what they can get out of the people and situations they're in. Every interpersonal drama is easily explained as the other person's issues. There's never accountability or ownership. They are basically clueless how people really feel about them or just don't care. Joe will never change. He'll keep sabotaging his life and never really learn. These types of people can't get past their own egos and aren't self aware/humble enough to make lasting changes.
