If you found a bunch of gold in your own backyard, you'd have every lawyer in the state running around trying to figure out why you're not allowed to keep it for yourself.
I really like Dave's attitude here. He was open minded, knowing that not all gold mining procedures are the same. There is always something to learn. Thats how you increase your expertise

I have been doing this for a long time. It is a very rare day to find a gold nugget. Advertise quitting your day job? I know of nobody who has made a living at this. I have heard of just a few. Great business for the metal detector, pan and prospecting equipment companies. The idea "you can find some big gold" is in the same probability stats as lotteries (maybe a bit better). Sorry to burst some bubbles. Maybe you can get on a tv show? If Dave had to do this for a living without the help of the Discovery channel, you would be hearing a different tune (or mutters) from him. He also wouldn't be wearing any shoes because he couldn't afford them at Goodwill after kicking at the ground after the 10,000th rusty nail. Fun hobby though! Keep swinging.
Friend of mine on a piece of property there in Placerville. It was putting in a new fence using a post hole digger on his tractor and out popped and 01 Oz nugget popped it out of the ground. He went and got a metal detector and scan the rest of the property but didn't find no more
Here's a comparison for people who aren't quite gold nugget collectors It's like buying a brand new car from a dealer or taking the brand new car rolling it down a river for a 100 miles then buying it
Is gold really worth it to buy ? In terms of the short term considering taxes and overall cost of upfront purchase then trying to resell when I actually need the liquidity, is physical or gold stocks more worth the cost ? Because it seems to be when people speak of gold their not being specific to the short term or Long term approach to justifying the purchase. Let me know your thoughts , thanks anyone.
I would LOVE to gold hunt in an area like this. Already have the equipment, just need a place to go. Not much gold to find in my part of the country. Maybe just a few flakes for a day's worth of panning. Detecting only nets pails full of trash.
Another tip. Make sure you give half of your gold to the state of California!! Hahahaha… I love how beautiful the state is outside of the cities but thank god I got out of there!
Any newbies like myself in WA, USA? If so ...I'm in Tacoma and looking for other newbies or experienced detectorist that may want to join up possibly a couple weekends a or couple of days per month and hit some old mines or ghost towns or river beds or whatever👍. Don't let my tag line throw you off...created it about when aol was big as a joke and never knew how to change it😂 so I've just kept it😂
Do all these companies in America know they are violating Treaties when they don't consult with North American Indian's sovereign Nations.?, my people the Iroquois negotiated for our people and it was agreed that at the point of sale the first 50%($) was suppose to go to us, but we are being ignored. Our people will not continue to be ignored.
It's all about selling us something.. metal detectors gold kits pans whatever .. it's about getting you to believe you can do it too. You just gotta buy that stuff ya need.. it's only a few hundred bucks..
Because gold nuggets are collected and get paid for that value…instead of just their weight in gold sometimes even double the true weight value and in even more rare cases an even higher multiple Also described in the video
Sorry that Gold is worth shit. Until it's been assayed, it's just junk Gold. Until it's refined it's not pure Gold. It's jewelry gold which isn't worth anything until shaped.
Seems these days everyone is selling the untie yourself from that tired old job.. live the life.. leave that stale old life behind.. Seriously... Truth is life's a lottery.. most lose a few very few win.. and the winners are mostly just lucky not smart not tough not special.. jut lucky that one in 50 million or so...
We find pretty good gold here in southern California. Guess what river. Would love to meet that gentleman and learn some things I might not have known otherwise. Joe gold
A million dollars an ounce for crystalline gold, utter bullshit. Based on the size of the gold and the uniqueness, you're getting 1.5X to 8X spot market per ounce. So yes, that 19oz. nugget could get him a new F150, really good character, but not a seven figure nugget. 😅

No one would know if i found gold on my property.
Jim hunts gold because he's living the dream.
Dave Turrin for the win
These people make more being tv personalities than gold miners
Doubt it, no way the discovery channel is paying them millions.
Probably not safe for this guy to advertise like this....
He said he keeps this in a bank in a vault, I’m sure he is fine.
Now that's awesome collection of gold Jim keep swinging low and slow a large yard too prospect Brilliant.

Placerville ca was part of the gold rush also. My aunt lived there and it was actually cool because ask the hills have caves that miners dug out

Looks like an enjoyable hobby
What's this tv show called. Cant find it on discovery
The show is called Gold Rush, and it's on the Discovery UK.
It is called America's Backyard Gold
Here's a comparison for people who aren't quite gold nugget collectors

Thank goodness there's no sign Todd Hoffman. Dave is exponentially better off without him.
Sure would like that gold piece
Wouldn't we all $$
what bank vault did he say the rest of that crystallized Gold was in? .. asking for a "friend" who gets paroled next week
Watch out, he might shank ya😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Don't chase women, chase your dreams and the women will chase you.
All young men need to read this!
When you can wear a large nugget around neck you know you've done well
Wrong. Metal detectors use an AC frequency and when a metal is close enough to the coil, it de-tunes that frequency which sets of the detector...
Dave what’s the brand of headphones you use with the metal detector?
They are KOSS, don’t know the model number though.
How bout investing in a 125$ pin pointer dude haha
Beautiful territory in California
Sure but when was this filmed...whatcwas the hold price THEN?
I found a 31.132 gram PC of gold not far from plymouth ca
Man I wish my backyard had gold I would quit my job and just gold mine all day long
I just played cards with him at black oak today
Another tip. Make sure you give half of your gold to the state of California!! Hahahaha… I love how beautiful the state is outside of the cities but thank god I got out of there!
You can’t use an entry level detector. They aren’t sensitive enough.
That’s so so cool I always wanted to do that
must be nice....OH Honey, I'm gonna go gold hunting
I’m not seeing any crystallized gold prices at a million dollars per oz.
What metal dector does he use or is there more than 1 please list..
It looked like gpz 7000 which is expensive
Plymouth ?
He couldn't find his ass with both hands and a flashlight😅😅😅
Couldn't find his asshole with his thumb if you have him 40 pokes
thqats alife time hoping no one ever robbs him
That's why it's widely advertised that the gold is stored in banks not in the home
he has the wrong coil on the gm1000. the 5". works best. thats a light weight. detector.
Still he found 3.5 million more gold than you
It's called crystalline gold. Not crystallized. Just letting you know.

Dave with the gold monster 😂, could have at least hired a 6000 for the shoot
Amazing finds, nice work!
Lived in Foresthill, California
Way better than 3.5 million or normal gold. 😅
I thought Dave retired
All that gold go get a manicure 😂
He Wishes his voice is that deep.. 😅😅
Wish I could get that black sand.

im getting my detecting machine soon and out to the sierras
Cool
Rare gold? Interesting. How is all gold not rare and what sets it aside from gold. Gold is by weight so how can one gold be worth more?
That’s the same question I was thinking
🤦🏽♂️ not a good listener I take it
Because gold nuggets are collected and get paid for that value…instead of just their weight in gold sometimes even double the true weight value and in even more rare cases an even higher multiple

It's an A.I. video
yee haa ! 😊
Cool👍😎 You won't find anything like that in British Columbia 🇨🇦 Nope!!!
Just wait for CA to implement the wealth tax "We estimate that land is worth $100 million, hand over $4million/year"
pffft, i get my tips from Todd in the tent Hoffman. Im still waiting on that motherlode though.
Nah it's gold fever.. it's human greed.
That necklace piece looked like it's 1/4 to 1/2 ounce, not 2 1/2 ounces.
😂
that was easily 2.5 ounces
You're wrong.
Why on earth did you buy a ford? 🤮🤮🤮
lol I don't get it either. Some people like fords.........Weird folks all over the place...
what's a better truck?
Difference between a ford and a wheelbarrel
Fords easier to push
Fake much 😂😂
Hi I'm Bangladesh speaking ❤️
Lord you put it in the bank vault and then announce it to the world that it's in the bank vault FBI's going to be there
Dave Turrin is a joke
Dave turrin knows nothing about gold 😂😂😂😂 couldn’t even get 1000 ounces out the ground
He forgot more about gold and has more gold and money than you will ever touch in your whole family's life!😂😂😂😂😂

Nuggets are worth much more than the gold weight, especially unique pieces like these. Shows how much you know.
Sorry to disillusion you, but natural gold can and usually is worth ore than refined gold ounce for ounce.
Brain damage much???? Go back to school kid. You didn't learn crap 😂😂😂😂😂😂
