    Best video for AWS VPC I have seen so far.

    Really fantastic video! Things I particularly liked:
    1. you ask questions of what you covered that prompts recall. This helps comprehension.
    2. You run over the material multiple times: the big picture illustration, the examples, then bullet point summaries.
    3. Your address a lot of prerequisites that might otherwise be assumed: IP subnet masks etc
    Things Id love to see in future:
    1. Higher volume. I really have to crank up the volume to hear you
    2. Terraform scripts to replicate all the steps automatically

    I just completed 50% of the video and could not resist myself to send my compliments without checking the final round of it. This is wonderful. Many common things are hyped too much using useless jargon words in the IT world. The presenter of Enlear Academy has simply cracked this jargon and made things easily understandable for the viewers/learners.
    * One thing not clear (maybe a silly question) - Why does the source of Backend server Security Group
    "Source' - is taken as Webserver SG? Can't I use the Local IP of Webserver (used within the same VPC) as 'source'?
    ** More complicated is -- if I use the Public Subnet webserver SG as a 'source' for the private subnet's backend server "security group' don't I compromise the security of Private Subnet?
    *** Request to other viewers to excuse me for my idiotic (perhaps) question.

      -- if I use the Public Subnet webserver SG as a 'source' for the private subnet's backend server "security group' don't I compromise the security of Private Subnet?
      it's still better than being directly accessible from internet, one more hoop for the hacker

    After going through a number of videos out there related to VPC, subnets, NACL and more and with everything going above my head. I came across this video and it is the first video that I was able to understand. Every bit of line was clearly understandable. There are no words to explain the impact this video have made for me. Thanks a lot for this knowledge sharing.🤩

    • @srivattsansudhakar7112
      @srivattsansudhakar7112 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      VPC CIDR - 10.0.0.0/16
      IP Address range: 10.0.0.0 - 10.0.255.255 (65536 IP addresses available within VPC)
      Subnet 1 CIDR - 10.0.0.0/24 (AZ 1)
      IP Address range: 10.0.0.0 - 10.0.0.255 (256 IP addresses available)
      Subnet 2 CIDR - 10.0.1.0/24 (AZ 2)
      IP Address range: 10.0.1.0 - 10.0.1.255 (256 IP addresses available)
      See 3rd Octet in both the subnets. All IP addresses in Subnet 1 will start as 10.0.0 and All IP addresses in Subnet 2 will start as 10.0.1 which confirms IP will not conflict across subnets and that's how it should be.
      Also, both your subnets will fall within your VPC CIDR block (10.0.0.0/16).
      I hope this clarifies you.

    48:55 assosiating subnets to route table explicitly while there is already written that any subnet not assosiated explicitly to a route table has implicitly associated to main route table so it means you are explicityly associating subnets to main route table which was already implicitly associated. Any particular reason of explicitly association?

    Thanks for the video but I got confused about public subnet. In the diagram at 20:38, you are showing the public subnet with IP 10.0.0.8 only. My understanding was that this kind of internet facing subnets have two IPs (one for public subnet and one for private subnet). So, public IP (i.e. 34.44.45.46) can use internet gw without need of NAT gw. Isn't it correct?

    • @srivattsansudhakar7112
      @srivattsansudhakar7112 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Halil,
      From my understanding, Private IP (10.0.0.8) of your public subnet residing instance will talk within your VPC CIDR block (10.0.0./16) with that private address.
      However, it needs a Public IP assigned or an Elastic IP created so that it can talk to outside world via Internet gateway.
      Hope it clarifies you.

    • @srivattsansudhakar7112
      @srivattsansudhakar7112 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And to answer your second part of the question.
      Yes, we need not require Network gateway if only your Web server is going to talk over Internet.
      NAT gateway was used to perform NAT-ing and provide Internet connectivity to your back end server in this video which reside in Private subnet.
