You only hand tightened the nut on bottom, you will eventually have a leak. I have installed over a 100 of that same brand and ran into all of the problems you can think of , one of the problems is only hand tightening that nut, another problem is using that plumbers putty, silicone works everytime sometimes the plumbers putty will also let water leak through, I also put silicone underneath. Got tired of call backs, these are nice pop up drains when they don't leak.
I just bought a similar pop stopper, looking forward to installing sometime next week. First off, Thank you! for the video, you took your time, you explained "every" step and made it that much easier for a non do-it-yourselfer(which is me). I do much better when I see someone showing the steps. 👍👍👍👍👍
Wow! again! Your awesome video showed me something I never knew - I recently remodeled my bathroom and the sink came with a drain like the one your installing but I didn't know that the pop up part can be removed - So I went and checked and it pops out - Now I know Thanks again!
I need this for my tub. Do you know if just the pop up strainer piece is universal so that I could just pop it into my existing hardware in the tub after removing the piece that I have which rotates to open and close?
@@FixThisHouse Thanks so much for your reply. I did look up the link you posted. It looks like there are other brands that just have a similar stopper/strainer for the tub but they don't look as high of quality as the brand you used. (My main issue is my long hair in the tub drain no matter how hard I try to keep it from happening and I am absolutely disgusted with the plastic drain cleaners,,😩) I get all of your notifications so I'll keep an eye out for an update. Thanks for the great idea 💡.
I installed one similar years ago and thought, "Huh! I didn't know that basket part popped out." *pause video and goes to try it* Nope, it's firmly connected. But now that I think of it, it might unscrew. I think I like the basket version better.
Hi! Yes the one in my guest bathroom is a screw in type! I like this version better because my wife had so many close calls of her ring falling down the drain or necklace! My daughter just a few days ago almost dropped her earrings down the drain! 🙈
I purchased the chrome unit and installed it properly, no leaks. My problem is it does hold the water in the sink, the water seeps through the drain. Is there an adjustment to prevent seepage? I can't figure this one out. Thanks
I looked on Amazon for one in nickel. Please explain why some models are Explosion Proof? And they definitely should have these for Bathtubs as well! Thanks
Nice video, but couldn’t you accomplished all this with, just buying one those mermaid magic drainers (weather, advertise on TV a lot recently,) that just you replace the top device in your sink, in 10 seconds? Is it necessary to have to replace the entire straight pipe underneath the sink as well?
Great video, as well as the others I watched prior to this one. I just became a New Subbie of yours and I look forward to watching more of your content! I do have a question! Do they have something like this for the tub drain? And, how in the world do you remove an old tub drain in order to replace it with a new one, be it this type or another? I’m having a heck of a time trying to remove mine. My tub is probably about 40plus years old! I think there may be a screw underneath the round water stopper that I’ve tried to unscrew but, I’m not having much luck at all unscrewing it! Any tips would be greatly appreciated!😊
Hi! This one unfortunately has a slight lip because of the contour of the sink (fish bowl style). Each sink basin is built differently. Some have an indentation around the ring for this to fit flush like my IKEA sink or my Swiss Madison style. 👍🏽😊
My sinks drains are threaded all the way down to another connector that converts it to a plastic connector. I'll have to order one and take my existing connecting drain to Lowe's to see if I can make it work. Hmmm
Hi Mabel, the best way I did it it was to get a small box knife and start cutting the tangled parts, then just pick them off with a toothpick or use needle nose pliers. Kinda satisfying and therapeutic 😆
Thanks for the video. I don't get the appeal to popup drains. Put your hand in dirty water to let out the dirty water 🫤👎 I have them in all 3 bathrooms of the house I recently purchased, and will be changing all of them.
You are most welcome! I agree, I guess there mostly if you plan to soak something or in my case kids love using it as a lake for their toy boats and rubber duckies 😂
I really like this sink stopper! I also like the faucet. What is the brand and model of the faucet?
Hi! Thank you so much! Here is the links to the faucet and stopper:

Installing these today! Thanks for showing the process, I always like to double check before I dive in with a replacement project!
I repeated your steps with the same product and it worked out great. Thanks for posting.
Never apologize. Great video, thanks.

I’m not sure, let me check and I might have one for a tub! Please stay tuned I’ll make a video on it soon 🙏🏽

Looks easy enough that even I could do it!!!
You got this Leslie! 👊🏽😎
Nice job! Good video and verbal instruction!
Thank you so much! 🙏🏽😊
I don't know how plumbers do this work hahaha nasty but very satisfying when you see no leaks! Great video bro.
Thank you so much Jay! Yes the clean up was 🤢, but very satisfying when you turn on the faucet and see no leaks for sure! 😊🙏🏽🙈
👍 Terrific video.
Thank you so much Elmo! 🙏🏽😊
ciao, come risolvi il problema di "no overflow"?
I installed one similar years ago and thought, "Huh! I didn't know that basket part popped out."

Does this drain slow? How's it going with it now?

With or without overflow? Does that mean the hole some sinks have at the top?
This style is with the overflow 👍🏽😊

Awesome !
4:15 Somebody previously did an ugly job by putting the silicon as a sealant instead of the plumber's putty.
Is it sitting flush with the bottom of the sink or is that putty causing it to stick up a bit? Worried about junk accumulating around the rim.
Hi! This one unfortunately has a slight lip because of the contour of the sink (fish bowl style). Each sink basin is built differently. Some have an indentation around the ring for this to fit flush like my IKEA sink or my Swiss Madison style. 👍🏽😊
@@FixThisHouse I wondered the same thing, so thanks for clearing that up.

3:00 p-trap
4:20 how did u clean?
Hi Steve! I used Clorox disinfectant wipes. 👍🏽😊
how do you remove your wife's and daughter hair from the strainer catcher basket?

Did you not watch the video? He points out the main reason why pop-ups are the better way to go at 7:50.
Niceeee
Thank you 🙏🏽 Eddie !
I ordered one. The only problem, it doesn’t have an overflow hole! I ordered the wrong one 🤦♂️
The ring would be stuck in the P trap
It’s possible but not guaranteed. I wouldn’t want to dig out the ring or jewelry inside all that build up 🤢
❤️😎
Thank you Diane! 🙏🏽😊
👍🏼
Sorry I meant it does not hold water.
save you from the wrath of the wife.
Haha for sure! 💍
Nobody wants their hands to get dirty 🧤🧤😂
Save u thousands…. Cmon bro👎
Jewelry, plumbers bill, etc.
Thank you
